Their server meshing tech

What server meshing tech? ;D

The one in the works. Whatever it will run or not you don't need to wait for finish to realize what it entails. In order to have private server you have to have first game that can be done completely on one server which CIG doesn't even plan to do at this point.

As if the store itself wasn’t already a clear sign that they wouldn’t actually deliver on it ;)

I'm really confused about the multi crew ships. If you can fly around in your own ship and do whatever you want, what is the draw to being one of the 23 crew members on someone's Javelin? Genuine question, I'm pretty ignorant of MMO shenanigans.

Also, I'm trying to imagine a world where I know 22 other people that I would let touch anything I paid $3000 for and coming up empty.

If there's a limited appeal to being a crew cuck, that means that there is an incentive to keep very few of those ships around, so they remain valuable.

You can get paid just by being crewmate. You can take harder missions which pay more. People with ARGO Mole often post work notices on chat. Mole has 3 manual mining lasers. Sometimes you need all 3 to break some bigger asteroid, some of the stuff is also time sensitive so if you break rock you have little time to pick stuff up thus again requiring all 3 lasers.

Good example of that is Drake Cutlass. If you man it alone it is pretty good ship. Ton of missiles, good weapons. But it is a brick to fly and higher tiered enemies can shred you easily.

Basically people are force multiplier in SC.

Now add second pilot which will focus on shields/scanning and missiles firing them on targets your don't focus on, add third for turret that will give you protection from above and back. And you now have very capable ship that can do a lot more than it used to. Then add some buggy/bike and 2-3 more people to handle ground operations as well and you have jack of all trades all rounder ship that can be used to do pretty much everything.

If you don't have crew then you can only fire missiles or shoot or scan one at the time, you can't use turret, in case of ground operation you are alone and there is noone to heal you when you get shoot, if you find loot you will have to deal with it yourself which takes time and so on.

Also in full game CIG says that you will be able to hire AI crewmates or replace some of them with server blades but in both cases they will be worse than real humans.

It sounds like it won't matter a single bit how much better people are vs AI, because the draw of not relying on 23 people being online at the same time will win. Either a bot that will perform at least adequately or the possibility of a meth head in Omaha? I guess it's a gamble.

Edit - I just realized that most of the meth heads I've known are actually the exact kind of dedicated pieces of shit I'd need to pilot one of the bigger ships. I'm fully on board if crew payment is acceptable in tiny bags of meth.

Being a crewmember can be fun. The most important appeal is the social factor. When you are onboard a hammerhead, a carrack, or an 890 Jump, and there are at least half a dozen other people onboard, you really do feel like you are part of a team, that you are onboard a spaceship, and it's pretty immersive.

Wish there was more to do on multi-crew ships besides being a gunner or flying parasite fighters. Could be fun to man a radar station and play a radar minigame trying to scan weakspots, hack enemy ships and disable their systems, trying to scan for cloaked vessels, or checking and turning hallway cameras during a boarding operation trying to track the invaders. Or it could be fun to run around as an engineer trying to fix the ship, or running around as a doctor trying to heal people.

Bear in mind there are no ships currently in the game that require anywhere close to 23 crew members to man. 4 - 8 people is plenty for the largest ships in the game now. All discussion of AI crewmates and large-scale multicrew is purely an exercise in game theory since those things are almost definitely not going to be in the game in the next couple years.

The draw of multicrew as it exists now is basically just the fantasy of flying around space in your own Millennium Falcon. Jumping on a discord call with a few buddies and crewing a ship around the Stanton system doing missions together sea of thieves style. It's one of the funner things in the game right now IMO.

Ah but imagine how glorious it would be! 2 space ships in the entire server, fighting each other, with a frame rate of a PowerPoint presentation, what 5 magnificent minutes it would be!

Im not the one making a claim about a tool they know nothing about, you cant claim something is superior without actually knowing everything about each tool, my judgement of the tool is what is actually in each of the games that use the tools.

SC is superior with just the basic facts that is does multiple things compared to coherant labs tool which is focused on one thing.

:shredder:

Roadmap Roundup:

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Every two weeks, we accompany the Roadmap update with a brief explanatory note to give you insight into the decision-making that led to any changes. This is part of an effort to make our communications more transparent, more specific, and more insightful for all of you who help to make Star Citizen and Squadron 42 possible.

With that said, let’s go ahead and dive into this week’s Roadmap Roundup!

-CIG Community Team

Notable Changes for May 25, 2022

As we explained in great detail in our latest Letter from the Chairman last week, we're going to update Release View this week to reflect the rollout of key technologies in 2022 as we continue on the road to Alpha 4.0.

First, you'll notice that the 3.18 column has been adjusted to now arrive in Q3 2022. We're aiming to include with the release of Alpha 3.18 the implementation of Persistent Entity Streaming (PES), a core technology that allows for all dynamic objects in Star Citizen to persist across servers and play sessions. A fundamental change to how state is recorded in the persistent universe is going to have a lot of edge cases and issues we have not come across yet or foreseen. Because of this, we are going to be approaching 3.18 differently than our previous releases, as we are anticipating that 3.18 will require a much longer time in the Evocati/PTU testing phase than our previous releases.

The goal will be to get 2-3 months of testing on Alpha 3.18 in PTU for an Alpha 3.18 release to LIVE in late Q3. However, there's still plenty of content on the way in the meantime! This will be released on the current Alpha 3.17 branch in a 3.17.2 update, which is targeting late June. These features will appear on Release View in the existing 3.17 column, currently marked as Tentative until their final reviews are complete. As a reminder, a column encapsulates any incremental patches within that same column. For example, the 3.17 column lists all content coming within that patch cycle, including 3.17.0, 3.17.1, 3.17.2, etc.

Once 3.17.2 is released, testing on 3.18 will commence shortly after. The 3.17 features listed below (save for the first one!) are all targeting this Q2 release.

Additionally, there will be an Alpha 3.19 update at the end of Q4, with a similar testing approach as 3.18 for the initial release of Server Meshing, the Pyro System, and more in Alpha 4.0. Therefore, you'll see the 3.19 column has been updated to release in Q4 2022.

Please let us know if you have any questions on the new release cadence, and be sure to check out the Letter from the Chairman for more details.

Release View

The following cards have been added to Release View:

Drake Mule
Building, implementing, and balancing Drake's cargo vehicle, the Mule, as a game-ready vehicle. This feature has been added to the Alpha 3.17 column.

Illegal Delivery Missions
Implementing illegal variants of delivery missions into the persistent universe, including reputation gains with criminal factions. This feature has been added to the Alpha 3.17 column and is targeting delivery in Q2 in 3.17.2.

AI - Planetary Navigation
This system allows NPCs to move on planetary surfaces using a dynamically generated navigation mesh. This will efficiently process planetary terrain and objects to prioritize the processing of the environment around the players into navmesh, allowing the use of all existing functionalities on planets. The first implementation of this feature will be the Reclaimer Derelict Points of Interest. This feature has been added to the Alpha 3.17 column and is targeting delivery in Q2 in 3.17.2.

Derelict Reclaimer - Points of Interest
Additional points of interest that will be scattered both on planets and in space. They will be derelict Aegis Reclaimers with some type of activity (puzzle, traversal, missions) along with rewards to loot. This feature has been added to the Alpha 3.17 column and is targeting delivery in Q2 in 3.17.2.

Additional Stanton Lagrange Points
Implementing additional reststop locations surrounding microTech and ArcCorp, including both the stations themselves and the gas clouds surrounding them. This feature has been added to the Alpha 3.17 column and is targeting delivery in Q2 in 3.17.2.

Siege of Orison
Implementation of Siege of Orison, a new dynamic event in the persistent universe. Featuring both FPS and flight combat, this new event puts you against Nine Tails to liberate the floating platforms of Orison. This feature has been added to the Alpha 3.17 column and is targeting delivery in Q2 in 3.17.2.

Persistent Entity Streaming
Implementation of the Persistent Entity Streaming core technology into Star Citizen. Making use of services such as the Entity Graph and Replication Layer, this will allow every dynamic object in the game to fully persist across all servers, irrelevant of whether it is owned or held by a player. This feature has been added to the Alpha 3.18 column.

Progress Tracker

The following deliverables, previously Unannounced, have now been revealed on the Progress Tracker:

Drake Mule
Building, implementing, and balancing Drake's cargo vehicle, the Mule, as a game-ready vehicle. This deliverable has been added to the Audio, Narrative, Vehicle Concept Art, Vehicle Content - EU, Vehicle Feature, and VFX teams' schedules.

Anvil Legionnaire
Building, implementing, and balancing Anvil Aerospace's dedicated boarding ship, the Legionnaire, as a game-ready vehicle. This deliverable has been added to the Narrative, Vehicle Concept Art, and Vehicle Content - EU teams' schedules.

That's all for this week!

and easier to read current work by their teams assigments (100% doesn't mean something is finished. IT means current task is done which could be one of few):

Wait, wait, wait, hang on… is this like, the real roadmap, or is it the old roadmap, a temporary roadmap or is it the roadmap for the roadmap with some extras?

roadmap.

The second jpeg is from their progress tracker basically a tool that has all internal teams and what they are working on currently and progress on their current task. Just in form that is easier to read done by fan.

I know there was a roadmap, but then the roadmap stopped being roadmap and in it’s place there was a roadmap for a roadmap, I need to know if this roadmap is that roadmap or if it’s just some other roadmap.

Appears images in signatures are no longer allowed. What a shame. Your post just reminded me to try and use mine.

I agree, a shame indeed, it’s a nice way to display your retardation without people having to read the dumb shit you write.

Edited: Stop using post ratings to share how you’re feeling, just get a twitter account or some shit.

Those "my wife/girfriend made "insert geek thing" for me" are always fake. Just some losers who are excited about their new purchase looking for some pat in back instead of getting back from someone that they are fucking losers.

Either way. Speaking of losers. CIG doesn't seem to be one. They already beat half of their record funding. If curve is right they should hit around 110mil in one year.

Also from this chart you can see perfectly well when game became "playable" as this is the moment when money started to pour in. Late 2019 when they released really stable patch and got most of Stanton system done and the release Object Container Streaming for both client and server which made game go from 10fps to 30ish in cities.

Oh yes, it’s always possible, and sad if you think about it, as if posting about spending 2,000$ in concept JPG wasn’t already shameful enough.

CIG doesn't seem to be one.

As if there is any room for doubt about it, CIG may be a lot of things, but a loser isn’t one of them, no matter the outcome of this entire shitshow, they already won, big time.

… and you just had to disappoint me, didn’t you?

By the way Perkel, the free flight is going to last till the end of this month? If it does, I might take your offer.
