What's even the point of using cheatengine to speed up games?

I personally don't do it, mainly because when I took up the majority of my gaming habits, cheatengine wasn't a thing. That said, isometric party based RPG especially (see BG and PoE), have often huge open areas. Your party spends (relatively speaking) a lot of time just going through empty or useless terrain to, for example:

-Exit an explored area.
-Backtrack a cleared dungeon to a spot where it's safe to rest
-Hit various stores in town
-Talk to questgivers or other NPCs

People use cheatengine mainly to speed up those parts. As I said I don't use it but I always enable cheats when replaying BG and use the teleport to cursor function because, frankly speaking, the Waukeen Promenade has become a bit stale for me, after 20 years.

You have haste spells and Boots of Speed.

Nah, I play IE games resting as little as I can. If I play with a full party, I usually only rest after clearing a location or between levels. Haste wastes slots if used for general navigation. You can hoard potions but I find it just a chore. It's a game I played literally dozens of times.

When going solo ofc boots of speed cover 95% of your needs.

The Boots of Speed work with a haste effect and both stack to greatly increase your speed.
Excellent combination and allows you to reach or evade enemies easily.

Serious question: How the fuck did you get out of Hel? I was playing Rune and absolutely got stuck on that level because I couldnt find the exit.

To return to this for a moment, it was pretty funny to me when I read that Rune was largely made by ex-Raven people who worked on Hexen, because for some reason replaying Hexen made me feel like replaying Rune. Guess you can't cheat DNA.

It also explains many of the more aggravating 'what did that fucking button even dooooooooooo' moments of which this game has plenty.

The Hanse not only colonized the southern USA, they also own Patagonia. AND the AI moved its capital to the New World. Is that... Jersey?

Heavensward had some neat vistas for 2015

Also, way more expressive facial animations than I've seen in other MMOs. (Reacting to a dear friend being mortally wounded.)

That scene made me a little teary, in part because you could see just how much the loss of someone was actually emotionally affective to her (and the others around her).

The appeal is increasing frame rate whenever you play JRPG on PS1 with annoying slow loading between battles.

Okay, but what has that got to do with people using cheatengine to speed up cRPGs on PC, and doing so consistently for every game?

Edit: thanks Matalarata

Good old Paradox. I gained a PU over Muscovy despite having a regency council myself. But then again, who cares, this rules:

Yeah EU3 used to do this a lot. I remember once Portugal moved its capital to Brazil and completely gave up its Iberian possessions to Spain.

Might as well give up now; you'll spend the rest of your ingame time trying to fix that horrible border-gore.

You know what they say. If you can't beat the daemon viking ninjas, might as well become one.

And then hammer them all into the fucking ground :argh:

Observation 1: Hammer timing in this game is extremely satisfying.

Observation 2: Rune might be the only game other than EYE that properly relays your character's OOMPH when he becomes a chaos space marine. Especially when jumping around

I wondered if I could carry Conrack's still-bleeding severed head through the portal to Asgard, and I was not disappointed.

Do you know if the GoG version is the same as the one you played through here?

Getting the game on ZOG gives you access to two versions. The 'primary' one is Rune: Classic which is a re-release from some years ago and which should be AVOIDED LIKE THE PLAGUE. Apart from that you'll also find Rune Gold in the extras, which is the original version of the game, and the one you should be playing.

Thank you! Hadn't looked in the extras folder yet.

Now that I think of it, it was probably a stupid idea to throw away all the weapons before I sent Ragnar to Valhalla.
