RIP, Jazz. You did nothing in a single game, but get stunned, KO'd, and eventually killed by a weakling elf. We will miss you.

So I started Morrowind with the MGSO mod and it really looks good, a hell of a lot better than the vanilla version. I am a bit dissapointed though that the options are difficult for my computer to run even at medium when I can easily max out New Vegas or Oblivion with mods. Look at that low fps.
When I played with MGSO, the only option that caused a slowdown was the draw distance when increased to a ridiculous amount. I ended up settling for a draw distance of a mere 20 cells.

I wonder if I should install the oblivion combat mod.
Nothing related to Oblivion should be associated with Morrowind.

I should have thought about that. I put draw distance to the max. I guess I have to edit my shit again.

Step One: enjoy the scenery. Put the prospect of death behind you. This is what the pamphlets said nature was all about!

Step Two: go up and down a road. Clutch a rattling, empty lantern for safety.

Step Three: get caught out in a blizzard while exploring. Burn pamphlets to start a fire. Shack up next to Bullet-man Bob. Drink copious amounts of hot tea to try and stay warm. Don't share any tea with Bob. He and his bullets are not to be trusted.

Step Four: as the campfire dwindles, venture out into the blizzard, seeking that farmstead you stayed in a few days ago. Find orchard trees belonging to said farm. Triangulate location of nearby road to orchard trees. Get celestial hunch that you're close to home.

I tested out the combat because this game is infamous for having bad combat and people weren't lying.

I wonder if I should install the oblivion combat mod.
Despite the awkwardness of the fights, I think that, if it's your first time in Morrowind, you can give it a try the vanilla way. Just stay away from the marksman's skill.

Btw, KOTOR still looks pretty beautiful:

Ah, sweet Dantooine.
Had a few great moments on Dantooine with that soundtrack. Some relaxing talk with Bastila and her charming english accent, away from nowadays mass effect-like garbage or even worse waifu stuff.. what went wrong, Bioware?:negative:

I have to like/brofist/whatever every Jeremy Soule's work.. but I'm new in this forum and.. err.. haven't found yet.. the diabolic contrivance to do the like thing(but i definitely found the parrot)+M

This. Besides, Oblivion had even shittier combat. Comparable amount of clunkiness, but with any semblance of sense going down the drain.
Morrowind, for its clunkiness got one thing right - melee combat usually draws out when the combatant manage to not get hit, getting a 2h axe in the face tends to make you dead.
In oblivious everyone always hits, except they might do negligible damage, even if they brain an unarmored guy with a battleaxe.
It gets even lulzier for ranged attacks - you can turn a guy into walking pincushion (with pinpoint accuracy) but leave him mostly undamaged because you're a lousy marksman.
:gumpyhead:
Maybe they should have added potions of arrow viagra to stop arrows from getting limp mid air.

In Morrowind at least a hit is hit and a block is block.

I should have thought about that. I put draw distance to the max. I guess I have to edit my shit again.

Another disadvantage with infinite draw distance is that it makes the world feel to tiny.
Also this. Morrowind was designed around its original graphics. Original graphics included limited view distance which was taken into account when placing stuff.
You can't get proper looks with view distance above around 3 cells (fog) although you can put actual draw distance as high as 20 to avoid clipping.

Also most graphics mods completely fail to preserve the feel.

Guide on how to ruin Morrowind:

Step 1 - Install graphical mods
After eight playthroughs of Morrowind in the days before fancy graphics extenders, it was fun to have one playthrough with MGSO cranked to maximum and a view distance that allowed for sweeping vistas. MGSO does have a few bizarre options for vegetation in certain regions, but it's simple enough to select the options that are consistent with the original art design.

This. Besides, Oblivion had even shittier combat. Comparable amount of clunkiness, but with any semblance of sense going down the drain.

Developers need to learn that half-assed action-based combat mechanics are always worse than character-skill-based combat mechanics. It's probably too much to hope that they'll learn from Dragon's Dogma or the Souls series how to do action-based combat correctly.

Conan looks sweet. Shame that it's MMO. Same goes for The Secret World.

Anyway finished HM two times in a row. One of the best arcade shooters for PC I've played.

This is probably the most fun/rage inducing room in the whole game. There is so much enemies in the confined space that you must be careful where you make next step. Cheesing up behind the door at the beginning can easily kill you when you lure more attention and the dogs aren't helping either.

Fun start here, where you kill the guy at the entrance and need to look out for the two more of them with the gun. This was one of those lucky replays where I lured most of the guys in a short time manner.

I should look out for a good promo on HM 2. Hopefully skacky will make a couple of campaigns when I finally buy it .
