I remember the first time I played this, when I opened the door to her office and saw her body I was so spooked that I quit the game for that day. I'm usually not into horror games and didn't know what to expect.

Mother Russia Bleeds

MRB took me by surprise, it really is a good beat 'em up thanks to some key elements. One is good character roster, since we've got Ivan - a strong, but slow character, Sergei who is more flexible and my favorite one, Boris who reminds me of Sagat if he was a crazy Russian and fragile, but fast - Natasha. The enemies start bleeding after being kicked a couple of times and overall there is so much violence and blood that never stops showing on screen. It reminded me of old Franko game on Amiga made by our guys, the only thing that is missing was shouts from enemies like "Kurwa" or "Spadaj pierdoło". Very satisfying experience, cool soundtrack and the graphic style was a very good choice for that kind of game made by indie developer. Some enemies are hillarious, like the one we encounter in the S/M club, and make the wacky setting even more unique.


Soloing the whole game can be really hard, and I would advise at least using one bot to make it easier, especially in later parts where the vast hordes of rusgoblins and orcs will be attacking with deadly weapons and en masse. Also, the story could be less elaborate. Just keep it simple and to the point. At least after the first time I skipped the dialogues and just enjoyed the mayhem. After finishing it 3 times I give it a rest for a while. There is also arena mode if you want just to relax after hard day. Oh, and remember - winners don't use drugs!

It's less tedious than its predecessor and somewhat more fleshed out. That being said, it's only worth it inasmuch as you enjoy the setting and its fluff.
