It's fixed but they haven't patched it in yet. Expect it in January. What's the status of the save-loading? Checkpoint retardation still rampant or has it been fixed out by now?
Playing it now. It actually seems to have really good writing so far and several memorable characters, many of whom are just standing around in the street waiting to take you to sidequestland, it seems. My favorite at this point is a former heavily chromed shadowrunner now working as a bartender and chef who went so far as to get cyberware installed allowing him to Cook the deliciousest fucking steak in the universe. That's dedication to your job! This one looks interesting:
Hub-based design. Inspired by classic cRPGs, Nightmare Harvest is open for you to explore at your own pace.
No golden-breadcrumb trail. Nightmare Harvest isn't about getting to the next waypoint so you can click the next conversation so you can get to the next fight. You'll have to think about things, read descriptions and figure stuff out on your own.
Not just one way to do things. Nightmare Harvest wants you to role-play. There are different ways to solve every problem depending on your class, stats and personal style.
Dialogue is gameplay. Characters don't talk to you to dump exposition in your lap. The choices you make in your interactions with others affect the game.
Content-complete. Nightmare Harvest is finished. You don't have to wait six months for chapter 2. You can play the whole thing now.
Different outcomes. Everyone in the Shambles has their own agenda, so why shouldn't you? The story adapts to your choices and mistakes.
Repeatable runs. Stuck? Want to grind up some Karma? Go to an area you've already conquered and see if there's something new.
Anyone played it?
Edit: Author sounds like a bro:
When I made [lethal dialogue], I was homaging Planescape:Torment. When I first played that game I remember being blown away that you could make the wrong choice and just die! It really engaged me with the (already excellent) writing.
Can you find it outside of steam? I didn't saw it in Nexus.Playing it now. This mod absolutely shows promise. I recommend you play it.
Already partway through. It's got the vibe right.Finished it, took me like 4-5 hours or so. It is easily the best mod for SRR I've played with very, very strong writing, actually better than that of the main campaign and even some subtle shoutouts to PST and Fallout.
Play it nao.
Played it for a while. Feels like there's a lot of combat you can't avoid without some form of clairvoyance.Finished it, took me like 4-5 hours or so. It's the mod that I played with the best writing so far (not that I'm saying much as other mods have terrible writing), with just a few very convoluted story bits. The writing surprised me a few times and was full of derp on others.Hmm haven't played that one yet. Sounds good though
And Blackguards have a release date set on Jan 24 (if you do not want to Early Access it).A lot of the complaints are legitimate but I am still jonesing for this shit. Also that Banner game is coming out this month, whatever the fuck it's called. Good month for turn-based RPGs.
