I wish there was a specific release date on Berlin already, preferably if it was like, I dunno, tomorrow :(

I really don't expect it to be released before the last week of January, if not in the last days.
Not trying to be edgy at all here, but no trailer, very few info, the save feature still beta and introduced so late (still not in i think) and the usual delay of game development.
They must be crunching like crazy, won't be surprised (and not disappointed too) if the game is delayed for end February.

Right. When a release date is simply a month and not a specific day, expect it on damn near the last day of the month.

Looking forward to Dragonfall though, I had a great time with the original campaign despite it's flaws - probably because of the SR setting. I agree though that I'd rather it be delayed than launch unfinished, we have plenty to play in January as is, supposedly.

I don't personally care if they have not given a release date yet for Berlin. I just hope they take their time and really improve upon it.

Looks like (the beta version of) the save game patch is coming next week:
Fixers, Johnsons, Shadowlanders, Lend me your data-jacks!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Patch 1.2 is in the pipe, and its biggest, most important feature is our re-vamped, chromed-out Save Game System!

This new save-game system needs all the cyber-eyes we can get on it. When the beta goes live in the very near future, you will be on the forefront of ensuring that your current and future content is ready for the changes the new system brings.

We know that YOU, the community of UGC Creators and players, have invaluable insight into the nuances and workings of the game with your time spent with the editor and that insight is critical to the release of this important update.

Your assistance in this BETA will be of tremendous help.

Jeffery, Robin, and I will be here on the forums as well as info@hbs-studios.com to respond to and collect your valuable feedback and bug-reports.

Look for a detail-laden post announcing the beta release of 1.2 in the next week, and thank you for everything you do as a part of this wonderful community!

Sincerely, John
This will probably make or break the editor for me, depending on how it's implemented. Here's hoping it's full world persistence, and not just a hacked-together 'save/restore party state' solution!
Did they ever actually state that the save game system changes the way area variables and status are re-initialized on area transitions? Or is this just "save anywhere" but with the same limitations?

I've asked them twice back in November (1 2), but haven't received an answer.

That said, the fact that they are specifically calling UGC creators/players to test out the new system either means that there's more to it than just a hacked-together "save party state" solution -- OR it's a really simplistic save game system, but it is so unstable that it's going to break games in new and interesting ways! :troll:

The funny thing is that you can buy a bundle containing both for just $25. Backers get it for free, new buyers get a big discount, people who bought DMS at release get screwed until the inevitable Steam sales.

It won't be longer.

Everyone was supposed to get the second city for free. There was a big thread on Neogaf with some folks royally pissed off that HBS decided to charge non backers for the second city.

EDIT:

When Dragonfall is released you can likely get keys from backers who have multiples. I got a free key to SRR the first time around. I will likely grab a second free key when its handed out again.

Why are you lying ?
Only backers were supposed to have the second city for free adn they do have it.
They never promised anything to no backers, that would have been stupid.
Also nice to see you did not give a single coin to a game you apparently at least enjoy enough to hope to play the sequel.
No wonder we only have shitty game to play (not that SRR is great but hey it's enjoyable and TB isometric).
Sure backers had the better deal by far, both part for 15 potatoes (for once backers are truly rewarded as it should be for every kickstarter) :bounce:

I pre-ordered the game like 6 months before it came out, so I suppose I fall in with the group that gets shafted.
That's my situation. I knew I'm not getting Berlin, however 15$ is ridiculous price for DLC to let's be honest iPad grade game, especially if you consider bundle deal Roguey wrote about, apparently 5$ is enough if you're new customer. I simply won't buy it since I don't see how possibly it can be worth this much. Usually I don't mind paying full price. I'm not one of those people who buy only on -75% sales, in this case though..

I think that it all depends on what we get from the new campaign.
It seems to be larger in size than a DLC-sized expansion that offers 2 new locations, a new class and a few items.
Rather I expect it to be a campaign at least as big as the 1st one, with more replay value if they stay true to their word.
In that case paying 15 bucks for it seems quite ok to me - if you think it's too expensive, sure, wait for a sale.

Of course waiting some time to buy a game will give you the advantage of discounts - it's the same with the GOTY editions of many AAA games that usually give you the game plus all expansions for a fraction of the initial asking price.
But I honestly don't see people getting cheated out of their moneyz here - you want cutting edge new shit, you pay premium. You are willign to wait for it, you may get it cheaper.

They said the DLC got upgraded to a full campaign and it's going to be hub based with missions that you can do in different order for different factions, Shadowrun Returns was a little too simplistic what was a dissapointment but it was worth 15 $ for me.

HBS is infamous for saying one thing and doing something else.

HBS are in kind of a bind here. I suspect that they see the original release as effectively a "beta" or "early access" of Shadowrun: Dragonfall (but with the peculiar feature of having an entirely different campaign), and that this release is effectively a relaunch of the title.

So they could up the price of the combined bundle to $30 and that would be more fair, but for a "brand relaunch" that might be too high.
