Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
IMO it is too OP, particularly with the easy availability of Dampers.
I was thinking the same thing, but I tried the hydra fight without dampers and got fucking destroyed. Mostly because I had no access to units that resisted fire, and all the best demons were weak to dark. I think it's fine considering only humans can use items,
For now.
the dampers only stack to 3, and they only last a single turn.
You only really want them up during enemy Magatsuhi boost rounds anyway.

Enjoyed this much more than i thought.
But imo going into this game you shouldnt expect a story/character heavy game.
The grind, fusion and exploring the map is where its at or at least for me.
Of course the story isnt bad i actually liked it but it's not as much in the foreground as it is in other jrpgs.

One of the best games i finished this year. Didn't buy metaphor yet but played the demo.
I'll see if i will like it better or not.

You can even move around the camera in rendered movie scenes with SMTVFix.

Don't know why I slept on this series for years, this game slaps. It has been a long time since I just can't wait to get home and play. Only in the second area so far but it's been great fun, considering starting over though since it seems the new story line gives more bosses? Might save it for a second run but I'm generally lousy at finishing games.

Bosses aside, the new story line is better overall. If you don't play to replay the game, then yes, better go with the Vengeance route.

Well this might just be the game I will replay because so far I'm really into it. I used to dislike games that forced me to swap my party configuration all the time but for some reason it just clicks with me in this game.
I am however a bit confused about 2 things. I decided to make a debuffer MC with Luck/Vit and it's working okay so far however it seems almost all the dedicated debuff demons are really good at their jobs, making me think I could have the MC being something else so I don't have to swap around his debuff spells all the time depending on immunities and whatnot. Secondly rank/affinity seems to determine hit rate, dmg and mana cost for spells, fair enough, but how does this actually work for the support skills and Def,attack down etc. ? Because those seem to have a 100% hit rate regardless and their effect is just a rank 1/2 affair. Does upping the Support lvl just decrease their mana cost?

Skill potential doesn't affect accuracy at all, only MP cost and damage. And for support skills, yes, it only reduces the costs since those always land.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Sempiternal Vengeance is a total gameplay overhaul mod that aims to properly engage players with the game's systems, increasing difficulty while also vastly expanding the tools at the player's disposal.

The mod is designed with the Hard difficulty on a new game in mind.
  • +200 Boss adjustments, including new movesets, behaviors and gimmicks
  • +200 Skill adjustments, such as improving AoE skills and turning all buffs into AoE
  • +30 new skills, both unique and generic
  • Complete overhaul of innate skills, primarily buffs to existing values
  • QoL additions such as visible power values of skills in descriptions
  • Nahobino's innate skill Magatsuhi Spring recovers 25% MP, directly influencing the relationship between how well players utilize Magatsuhi Skills and their MP economy
  • Omagatoki: Critical replaced by Omagatoki: Potential, strong encouragement to use different Magatsuhi Skills in various strategies
  • All -kaja and -kunda buffs target all allies, Ma- buffs/debuffs now cover two buff types instead of one
  • Buffed all Charge-type support skills and increased their cost
  • Uncapping skills with multiple hits, allowing them to hit up to their max hit count against bosses
  • Several new and improved existing innate skills that make demons significantly more unique and useful
  • Significantly stricter item reserves, including restricting Dampeners to only holding one at a time and removing them from the shop
  • Additional press turns and removal of cheese strategies for bosses, they now present a significantly higher challenge that requires good teambuilding
  • Improved cost and effect of certain miracles, such as summoning discount going up to 75% and halving the price of Physical/Almighty Mastery miracles
  • Completely new
    Mastema
    fight on CoV Chaos
  • See FULL feature list here
Might be worth a seperate new HARD playthrough.

Well that seems very interesting after I finish this first playtrough. Difficulty felt fine so far but I haven't been pushed to use all the gameplay systems to the max so far except for the Hydra fight.

Another question regarding mechanics, it seems that after a while old demons level slower than newer ones despite being a lower level. Is this true? I assume the intention is to keep you evolving trough the tree but I kinda like some of the unique passives some have.

Yes. You aren't really intended to keep the old demons around forever, although there are mechanics to help make this possible as well. But outside of some gimmicky parties like an All Jack team it's not really worth the trouble since higher tier demons have superior resistances.

Well it does make sense, but I don't have a replacement for my +Crit dmg, +Acc/max Hits setup yet. Only comp so far that just melted trough the bosses.

you also get like 100 grimoires so u can spam those for couple lower level demons u wanna use whole playthrough
artemis (lvl 37) is such a beast she ended up even in my final party until true final boss there I had to optimize little bit more
but original smt5 dlc demons were very busted (cleopatra is standard demon now in vengeance speedruns)

Dunno about DLC stuff since I didn't play the original. All I knew is to disable the extra money/exp/glory DLC. I know about Grimoires but just like the demon stat buffs I haven't really needed them so far (Hydra excepted) . I'll just roll with the constant upgrades for now. Early in area 3 now and I'm still having a blast. Thinking of doing Nocturne after this, and then a second playtrough. Is there much of a difference between Noctrune HD and original?

no, most notable thing is that in hd you can choose skills you inherit, original its rng fest
also without dlc 1 story character is different
