the NPC giving you a randomly generated quest to go get the [classified documents] from [haunted space station]
Actually, a haunted space station would be pretty cool.

Are there any games like that?

Every time Bethesda has done procedural content in the past it's always been generic boring shit you don't want to do but the game tries to force it on you one way or another. And nobody ever liked that shit.

But now Bethesda comes out and announces a game where procedural generated content is fundamental to it's whole design and somehow people think it's going to be great this time because it's in space.

This is SPORE's fault.

Followed by No Man's Sky.

Those games have created a neuron connection in the brain of consumers to make them falsely believe that Procedural Content + Space goes together like peanut butter and jelly.

Bethesda's marketing knew this and it's the only reason they are making a space game in the first place. It's the perfect setting for them to go big with their dumbed down radiant AI bullshit. Big fucking surprise, right? But none of you could work that out because you actually believe they came up with this concept 25 years ago. 25 years in the making! A whole decade before the mind of Will Wright came up with the idea. Todd was a genius before Wright was, amirite guyz?

Also is it only me or this new Adoring fan has quite dead looking eyes, damn even eyes of the Oblivion one looked more lively, though you can never be sure if gameplay from a Bethesda game wasn't modded. Unless the gimmick is that nuAdoring fan is some kind of a psycho rather than annoying doofus.

The old and new Adoring Fan look like the old and new Mr. Pringles:

The wormhole that took him from the world of Elder Scrolls to Starfield must have been harrowing.

It really looks like you can join the cops or the frontier cowboys or the space pirates and have solid content for each.
"another planet settlement needs your help, I'll mark it on your map"

solid content.
Preston is annoying, but the concept is sound. A game is made from its default scenarios. If you throw boring gameplay at your quest designers and ask them to make lemonade, you're going to fail most of the time. It's the achilles heel of half of all RPGs. Conversely, Tears of the Kingdom is even more underwritten than a Bethesda game and it's already received enormous acclaim.

i guess the game appeal more to space sim crowd than me

I don’t know why you would think that, given that there is no space sim in Starfield.

The only thing that stood out to me was their supporting lots of playable factions. It really looks like you can join the cops (and) the frontier cowboys (and) the space pirates

I assume there are actually only the standard issue NuBethesda three or four factions you can join, how is that ‘lots’?

You do realize there is a 99% chance that these memes are pumped out by some obscure viral meme marketing department that is bought and paid for by Bethesda themselves. So great job being another usefull idiot who shares "memes" around for free advertisement.

I remember Bethesda really getting excited by the Arrow in the Knee meme. I heard a rumour they were even thinking of buying KnowYourMeme.

No, Preston is straight awful. My first encounter with him was my first moment of complete disgust with Fallout 4.
* Two factions are fighting but you HAVE to side with the Minutemen.
* You are a nobody, but Preston immediately trusts you and makes you responsible for the entire situation, including his own life and the lives of everyone he's supposed to protect.
(A Chosen One who touched the magic rock is bad enough. A Chosen One for absolutely no fucking reason at all is pathetic and absolutely inexcusable.)
* A dozen people could all fight the raiders instead of you. Preston himself could do it. But none of them feel like it.
* It doesn't matter if YOU don't feel like it. You have to anyway.
* There is NO WAY to resolve the situation except to do exactly what he says: kill a bunch of human beings on his say-so.

Combat is an arcade shooting gallery. Will be fun for maybe 10 hours max (that's generous) until either the balancing breaks down or you get bored of shooting stationary targets, whichever happens first.

Oh, you don't play melee in Beth games? That might be the issue right there.

Todd was a genius before Wright was, amirite guyz?

Who's laughing now?

Two factions are fighting but you HAVE to side with the Minutemen.

Or you can just leave. You can even tell Garvey that you don't care.

I love Bethesda. I love Bethesda's "memes". I'm paying full price for this. I might even go into Todd's house at night and leave extra money atop his sleeping form, to show my devotion. Nothing and nobody can stop me. Not even RPGcodex forum user Drakortha.

They do everything better than everyone. It's fucking pathetic if you think about it. Their design is so impeccable and above everybody else it's downright pathetic when looking at other studios.
You can't be fucking serious. This has to be a troll post.

If you count out this being yet another of MassiveSoft's goyslop "rpgs" and that is a reason alone not to buy it, this game still looks so bland and boring... Even pre release Hikerim and Hikeout 4 looked more exciting.

Who are you kidding, you'll either get day one premium edition at 100$ with the cosmetics or pirate it, like every codexers.

Considering this is day1 on gamepass I will certainly try it on my Xbox X but I do not expect much from it. They put some Skyrim edition that cannot be modded on it and vanilla Skyrim is barely playable and I also tried Fallout 4 that could be modded but not even those mods can save that game, especially when you are forced to play it with a controller.

I am unreasonably mad with Starfield.

I never before wanted so much a game knowing full well it won't be even close to what I want.
