Is there a way to research nightwalk spell without having occult research ? The only npc (outsider) able to do it was shot down after several harsh random encounter...Seems my playthrough is fucked as well.

I like my stealthy criminal with firearms and speechcraft so far.
Stealth seems very useful at times but then when the game forces you into combat it becomes useless.

So I'm not sure it's a viable strategy to rely on it.

I had 11 Stealth when attempting to go through the warehouse and it was extremely difficult to get by some of the ghouls, then at the end the final room just forces you into a (nigh-impossible) combat encounter.

Cool. Well there's two places to search. I found trick cards and nothing else. There's a greyed out option for subterfuge for all his magical shit but that's it, man.

There's more than 2 places to search. Remember you can hover over mundate items and get an eyeball icon that gives you text of what's there. Keep searching.
Did you manage to kill all the gangsters in the basement? After 30 turns of spawning,i assumed that it is endless.

But the sanity reward is nice

The blows to your sanity when you find yourself in a brutal and cruel situation beyond your control are also really nice, from a pure gameplay perspective. It's the details like these and the immense variety that comes with them that puts this game a step above as an RPG.

My true humanitarian has developed a psychosis from all the horror and has morphed into a true codexer

Yeah where is stealth actually useful? The game just forces you into combat with enemies the whole time really

No not the whole time, I was able to stealth through many sections. I got through the bank's first area after a couple of tries. I got through to the final room of the warehouse after... MANY MANY fucking tries (getting back to the start with a Sense penalty from the booze I had to chug was fun).

So it's not useless, far from it. But if it can't be relied upon to bypass all combat, it's not a valid strategy. You can't, as a developer, say to a player who has fully invested into stealth: yeah I'll let you bypass some combat but then WOOPS you HAVE to fight these dudes! Did I mention they're almost impossible to kill? Have fun!!!

Stealth is useful to rest without interruption that's about all since you end up in ambushes and boss fights in any cases. Seems its not as good a game as expected, you dont get any advantage with specialisation, just distribute the points evenly and you are good to go.

Quest question so spoilers!

Is it possible to get the note from 303 without getting the mob to come after you? I can't drink him under the table since I'm just a wimpy academic

Make the Codex Great Again! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I helped put crap in Monomyth
So anyone know how insanity works? I randomly become paranoid, not sure how, and now my guy is spouting out nonsense when it comes to dialogue. I even got into a fight I can't win thanks to it. Is there a way to cure it? But I'm mostly curious how it happened in the first place? I didn't drop sanity to 0 or anything and being paranoid shouldn't make a complete loon I think.

when you rest you can do things to recover sanity based on your worldview.. if you are rational you can read science books or something, if you are divine you can pray (I think you need a cross) or read the bible

you have to find/buy these things, of course.

btw I recall someone talking about the brick wall in the bank earlier and how they paid the guy outside to do it, just wanted to say it said I could use science and wanted me to pick a material to use so I went to the chemist and bought a bottle of hydrochloric acid that worked to melt the stones...

Yeah, I have been doing that, I know the mechanics of it. Someone else in the thread said my paranoia came from reaching 50% sanity loss. Feels a bit unfair, since I can't say I read anywhere that reaching 50% would activate anything. Going down to 100% sure! So make sure to never reach 50, it seems incurable too.

Another thing with the game, running non-combat really gimps you. I have used my academic skills(doctoring) once to avoid combat, otherwise I have just run a gimped character. Feeling a bit disappointing by that. Now I'm at a point in the game where non combat characters could really use a bypass to avoid combat, but instead it's a physique check to avoid the confrontation...

So you can both avoid it by being a fighter, and have an easier time fighting through it if you choose that path.

My next character is definitely going to be a melee fighter.

Purifier, can find it in crates outside, or on town vendor.

I used Investigation and had to manually find a loose brick in a minigame.

You could summon the ghost in 304 and tell him that the guy next door wants to evict him ;).

Answering my question since I found a way, not that it felt natural...

If you are weak like my guy you have to boost your physique with some really expensive drugs:

Ferocity & Amfeta-man.

Why it didn't feel natural to me, is that you are only allowed to knock twice, and even if you say you will be back with the drink he requests, he will attack and try to kill you the next time you knock on the door. So you got to have everything prepared before you even knock. Just drink the shit, have a bottle of copperhead whiskey prepared and you are good to go. Boosted my physique up to 8 and that seemed to be enough.

how do you even craft stuff?
There is crafting benches, one is in the warehouse's first room with no enemy and the other one is in the hut where the dude sells drugs.

yeah but I go there and it says you have nothing to craft but I have a shit ton of crafting supplies.. is it because I don't have any blueprints?

Played a couple of hours and I'm not too impressed. The game runs very choppy, with commands having to be executed multiple times to go through. Combat system seems very basic and boring.
