Volourn, I'd write you a poem but I won't.

And the best thing about this is that many people on the Bioware forums actually thought it was real until they took a closer look at the screenshots! Hell, without the photoshopped screenshots it would probably been able to pass off as the real McCoy for a much longer time. Says a lot about the direction Bio is taking with the PR work and the game design, really.

Oh, and even though ME will be an EXTREME game, it's still going to be rated T with no disturbing elements whatsoever, sole exception being the upcoming Shock Trooper chick nude mod. God damn, I hope that's not the only romance they're putting in the game!

Dialogues are one of those old conventions that we're trying to avoid.
:D
Judging by the reactions, this piece of creative journalism pretty much hit the spot.

Just a quick question VD, isn't there a always a fair amount of insulting going on in the posts here at the Codex?
Of course. Let me paint you an analogy though: imagine a "western" town where fights are common and laws are virtually non-existent. Everyone's ok with fights breaking up every now and then, but someone who tries to hit every guy he sees would just annoy people and sooner or later they will throw his ass out. Not for fighting, but for being a dick, if you catch my meaning.

Lately Volourn has been ending his posts with "idiot" or "moron" instead of a signature, snapping at people for no reason. I've already warned him once, and he calmed down for a time, but this time he decided not to. Choices & consequences.

Anyway, the above doesn't imply that I'm right. If the community feels strongly about it, I'll unban him today. Otherwise, I'll keep him banned for a week.

Not funny, neither the misuse of the front page nor the apparent banning of Volourn. Having been "only" a reader of the codex for several years I don't have a lobby behind me like several others here (as evidenced by the circle jerk) but it leaves a sour taste that one has to doublecheck now whether the news or genuine or not.

I thought the Codex was primarily a news site and news comments/forums where the place for mocking. Oh, and since when free speech abolished here ? Obviously the new "management" has other plans for the Codex than the previous one. :?

You can't please everyone, eh?

...but it leaves a sour taste that one has to doublecheck now whether the news or genuine or not.
 Surely you can tell that the interview was fake without doing some serious research?

Calling people "morons" is free speech now? Free speech is sharing a different opinion and not getting persecuted, and you are enjoying free speech benefits right now.

I suspected it after reading the headline and was sure after the first couple of sentences but only because I was aware of all the "in-jokes" from the other threads where Mass Effect has been already ridiculed by the locals. I wasn't aware that it is now obligatory to read the forums as well in order to be able to distinguish between genuine news and satire. This whole purpose of this interview seems about entertaining the established posters here as I doubt the humour is clearly evident to irregular visitors of this website.

No, I don't like the rude language which is sometimes predominent here but I tolerate it because I still think the benefits of a free speech policy outweigh the drawbacks. It's the same why I'm a democrat although I'm aware that I'll help to vote a bunch of incompetent politicians into government. The alternatives are simply even less appealing.

Previous one? I've been an administrator for 3 years.

I didn't doubt that but as far as I understand it some of your colleagues have gone missing (for instance Proverbius). So while you might be an oldtimer on the administrative board the distribution of power seems to have shifted in your favour.

Anyway, I just wanted to make my voice heard as one of the passive participants of the codex.

That is after fallout so it is new, and bad.

That was not the purpose.

I disagree, but that's a different topic.

Nothing has changed for me. I post news, reviews, interviews, etc as I did before. I banned people before. I have no desire to turn the Codex into a "VD's site", and I'll gladly leave the site's administration to Dark Underlord and others.

Man, what a bunch of wet-asses in the RPG "community." This interview is some serious comedy gold, and so many whiners. "Ooh, the 'Codex is bullying Bethesda and Bioware! Mermermerrr ... " Great to know we have the power to shake the lunch money out of the pockets of the genre's two biggest players.

Also, good call on Volourn. She needed to be spanked.

I'm gonna miss the big galoot. Volourn provided a voice of dissent, even though that was voice was often rambling, puerile, and incoherent. :honourblade:

Normally I would bitch about this because I hate when people regulate forums besides for spam and shit but I've gotten sick of volourns bitching. make him banned for a couple weeks. He might not come back but who cares, this site lived after Sol and it will live after :honourblade:

Besides he has too much bitch in him to leave the site based on principal.

Anyways the interview was awesome, I was surprised by the answers going "WHAT? IS THIS GUY AN IDIOT?" then the point about good vs evil thing came up and you said "good point" and I knew it in my black little heart.

The interview was funny. I'd rather see some real interviews though, which seems pretty unlikely to happen again .

Banning Volly is pure douchery on VD's part. Yay for him, he can ban people. Sure Volly deserves it, but every one on the codex deserves to be banned.

I'm for unbaning Volly at once. He may be annoying and stupid, but he is part of the codex. And he makes fairly good points hidden under all this R00fles!" MORON" "DEAD" "IDIOT" "LOLERZ" gibberish.

One of the things whichused to make the codex attractive is that you can say what you want without having to fear to be banned. Dont break with that now.

What do you mean? That no self-respecting developer will ever talk to the Codex again?

Banning Volly is pure douchery on VD's part. Yay for him, he can ban people.
You don't understand. I have a very low self-esteem. The only way for me not to fall apart is to ban some poor fucker every few days, which explains the steady population decline.

Sure Volly deserves it, but every one on the codex deserves to be banned.
Not really.

You can still say whatever you want. Anyway, like I said earlier, Volly will spend a week meditating and thinking about his behavior. However, if the majority wishes for him to rejoin us immediately, I'll respect it and unban him immediately. So, speak up.
