It's been a long ride, but all good things must come to an end. I am proud to have been a champion of women's rights, and of homosexual activism, however our fans have let us down for the last time by not purchasing enough Asari Sex dolls this Christmas season. Some right wing religious wacko groups have also brought us under fire unfairly for our advocate of consensual relations between men, women, and boys and girls of any age and for the involvement of many of our employees in poly-aged sex activism. When Chri Priestly was arrested for pedophilia dor consensual sex with several teenage male fans of the series we were shock and outraged. Yes, shocked and outraged that 20 years into the millenium this kind of draconian control of who can touch who continues on. Well, I promised you we would fight til the bitter end, and we have.

You are all laughing now, but in 50 years or so it's likely to be true. I bet people 100 years ago never even considered a marriege between two men possible. As long as gay phedofiles keep running our countries the decline continues :decline:

Yet in 'great warrior land Sparta', sex with women was viewed as only suitable for reproduction, whereas only man-on-man could have the capacity for monocle-intellect and manly-romance needed for true love.

Most of the time, they'd be shagging the boy that they'd raised from near-birth. It was encouraged for military tactical reasons. The Spartan used long spears (2 hands, sometimes buckler but no shield), and would use a tactical formation where they would hold an ultra-strict line, working on a tactic of alternating movements across 2 halves. Each group would thrust then block across to deflect anything directed at the guy next to them. The two groups would be staggered so that while one group was thrusting with their spears, the guy next to them would be sweeping and protecting them from any attack (hence the long spears and ultra-strict line formation - meant that they could just sweep across and down without having to worry about the multiple angles that a closer-range sword combat would have opened up). They encouraged the paedo-sex because the guy who raised (read: 'shagged') the kid would be deliberately put next to them in battle. The belief was that if you had been raised by a guy, and spent your whole life with him as your one love, you sure as fuck weren't going to let some Persian pike get through your block and kill him.

Regardless, the Spartans were pretty much the uncontested dominant land force of their time. The Athenians completely wiped the floor with them, but that's because they were so much better culturally and scientifically that their ships and siege equipment were lighter, faster and could transport more men. Think of the Mediterranean and Turkey, and then think about the Athenians having utterly uncontested naval dominance. The Spartans could march to attack Athens and the Athenians could send their ships, kill everyone in Sparta, leave the Spartans without a supply trail and be back in Athens before the Spartans were halfway there.

Of course, eventually the Athenians pissed everyone off so much that all the other city states said that they'd agree to pay taxes in return for a vote in the Athenian senate. Athens said 'fuck you, you'll pay us taxes and you won't get no fucking vote in our senate anyway' (or words to that effect). Then every country in the (then) known civilised world attacked Athens at once and occupied them long enough for Sparta to actually land an army in Athens without Athenian ships assraping them on the way.

Anyway, moral of the story: no point in citing historical expectations as evidence for your personal worldview. There's always an earlier example where people held the opposite view, and did well with it, holding it as central to their explanation of their own success (ala Sparta believing women were too shit for anything but recreation, true love only being between men, and homosexuality improving military bravery).

Well being a co-founder is not a job. He will be a co-founder of Bioware even if he works at another company. Like, Peter Molyneux is the founder of Bullfrog even though the studio doesn't exist any more.

Would be cool if Ray & Greg decided to form a new studio, and then only hire Bioware oldtimers (James Ohlen, Dave Gaider etc.) and then make some real RPGs again.

....

Naaahh.
I believe the good doctors have no interest whatsoever in classic RPGs. Only business.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Competent people at BioWare. That''s a good one.

Can we keep this hateful discussion out of the Codex? It's stuff like this that drives people away when we should want to be welcoming.

From what I've seen I'm sure Bioware's Janitorial staff is competent. Please wish them the best.

Poe's law, my greatest internet nemesis.

Seriously the 2nd line should have given it away. Outlander confirmed for consoletard unable to absorb more than a handful of words at a time before the need for AWESOME reaction images takes hold.

Sarcasm detection fail

Critically hits self for no damage. Outlander is now dead.

They earned their doctor titles in their schools , whether you like it or not.
Doctors, by definition, should have some knowledge and be able to teach. The only thing those fuck ups know and can teach is how to ruin business.

They were medical doctors. Bioware started out as a medical software company.

Aren't they medical doctors? Bros, think of how many lives were indirectly saved by them opting to make games, instead of practicing medicine. You heard it here first: popamole games save lives! Buy ME3, keep Bioware in business and continue to save lives! It's the right thing to do.

EDIT: Dammit, Roguey! Don't you have some stalking to do, girl?!

What stopped them, I doubt they were doing worse than they are doing now.

BioWare was established in February 1995 by Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuk, and Augustine Yip, who had graduated together from medical school at the University of Alberta.[4] The three had done some programming for use in med school and they used video games for recreation, eventually deciding to develop video games.[5] Their success in the medical field provided them with the funding they needed to launch their own video game company. To make their first game, they pooled their resources which resulted in capital of $100,000.[5]
Their first game, Shattered Steel, began its life as a proof-of-concept demo, similar to the MechWarrior games. This demo was submitted to ten publishers, seven of whom returned to Muzyka, Zeschuk, and Yip with an offer. A publishing deal for Shattered Steel was eventually signed with Interplay Entertainment. Pyrotek Studios was contracted to help see the project to completion. BioWare's first game was released the following year. Shattered Steel's release was described by IGN as a "modest success" with "decent sales". Two noteworthy points were the deformable terrain (player weapon damage caused craters in the environment) and zone damage (well-placed gunfire could shoot mounted weapons off enemies). A sequel to Shattered Steel was planned for 1998 but never realized.[5]
BioWare's founders and staff were keenly interested in both computerized and pen-and-paper variants of role-playing games.Their next development project, therefore, was determined to be an RPG. When Interplay financed "exploratory development", BioWare presented the publishers with a demo called Battleground: Infinity. Interplay suggested that the demonstrated gameplay engine would be well-suited to the Dungeons & Dragons license which it had acquired from SSI. Accordingly, Infinity was reworked in line with the Dungeons & Dragons ruleset.[5]
This resulted in Baldur's Gate, which witnessed a development cycle of three years. During this time, the three doctors continued to practice medicine. However, in the final years of the project, the demands of development prompted Muzyka and Zeschuck to leave medicine and move into full-time development.
