The safe way to fight Manus is to stand pretty far away, a few steps closer than the point your lock-on would drop IIRC. The fast Manus-goes-ape combo is no threat there and everything else is heavily telegraphed, and dodging several of the attacks causes him to leave his hand down and wide open for ages, long enough for shit like a jump attack with a Zwei. When he gets low enough to start doing dark magic you can either use the amulet or get a little closer to a sweet spot where you're not too close to dodge the dark shotgun attack and not too far that you can't sprint into Manus' crotch to evade the one where a bunch of dark bolts explode around you.

I see, good place for long range heavy weapons like the Demon Hammer, and Smough's Hammer, but I think Greataxe and fist users will still be in a world of hurt (though I'm capable of fast rolling with those bones on my hand, so it shouldn't be a problem for other users of the same type).

I've read that you can shoot Manus to death (or at least shave his health down) from outside the boss room, standing to the right of the path going to the fog gate and looking down.

It's true, you can, though it's somewhat dangerous as you have a chance of falling off the cliffside. Keep sending arrows towards him, and sooner or later, he'll drop dead, and drop the Manus soul right between your feet.

It's the only way I've ever beat him.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
fuck this, i can do no good fighting kalameet. sorcerer with moonlight greatsword +5, usually it deals crazy damage, but he's resistant to magic.

going near him, he throws that spin attack, stomping attack or fly + AOE fire.

going far, he dash, blow fire or fly. fairly easy to dodge or block, but i can't figure out how to do decent damage while keeping distance

Haha, first time I fought Kalameet was not until I came with fully upgraded Black Iron Set including Black Iron Greatshield, I was just that scared of that thing.

You need to learn the timing of letting him graze the upper left of your raised shield while he swoops down. Only then will he do his tail slam which is COUNTER!!! time.

Trying to get his tail weapon, or just outright killing him? If you're on PC, I can help, and hell, I'll even do it with my Ranger Build (Pure bows and Greatbows, killed Kalameet with "HEADSHOOOOTS" to his center eye with a greatbow).

That 'stay far away" strategy from Manus works on Kalameet too. You can shoot him with something to slowly wear him down or just run in and chop his shit when he does the slow left-to-right sweeping firebreath. If you want to do the tail cut solo just stand a bit behind his ass after you dodge the swoop to bait his tail attack out. Takes a while but unless you get stunlocked to death by an easily dodged firebreath nothing he can do will prevent you from chugging even if you fuck up a few times.

use pursuers or homing crystal mass with crystal souls spear and soul spear.

On my mage build I actually got kirks armor, I didn't even know that I could get it. It was just laying next to quelaggs sister.

thanks, i watched some vid about a guy using that dragoncrest ring, power within pyromancy and soul spear. each spears does 800 damage to him, and crystal soul spear does 1200 damages.

gonna try it soon

BEAT HIM!! FUCCCK YEAH

switching to crystal halberd +5 with gold pine resin do wonder and i was lucky he spam that easily dodgeable fire and stomping attack.

going for manus now. and he seems to be resistant to magic too.

damn, this whole DLC is discrimination against sorcerers :(

maybe during development the vanilla game is too easy as sorcerer, now they made everything resist magic making me a little bitch

I would not say so, it's just those bosses are very fat compared to anything in the vanilla game. Manus takes almost the same damage as any other boss (maybe 100-200 points less), but he has 7k+ hp (it seems so) and it's hard to predict whether to cast something or use pendant for black magicks protection, or simply roll away. That's why i stopped, it was incredibly frustrating to die at his last 100-200 hp thanks to the input queue. You can also try Crystal Catalyst for extra oomph (crystal spear hits for 1.7k+ on manus if you dont miss it, but you'll have only 2 shots).

fianlly beat him. figured out how to summon puppy sif. he's got damn whole lot of HP, and provide a nice distraction while i heal.

then i went back to firelink shrine and defeating gwyn. which is pathetic compared any of the DLC bosses (i would say all 4 lords are pretty easy except bed of chaos), the fact you can counter him and attack him for massive damage is cray.

Make sure to riposte him with a fist weapon or unarmed, that way you can punch him directly in the dick.
