After hours of pointless deaths on O&S i even started to contemplate cheating just to make the pain stop. Still i know it was my fuck ups - sometimes i stupidly over-casted when the fatguy jumped after O's death, other times i simply died because of Power Within eating last % of my hp, most of the time i got stunlocked to death. I looked at the videos and the sorcerers there somehow did 800+ damage with homing soulmass - are they cheaters or how is it possible to get that high even without Power Within? Is it better to kill fattie first and then deal with Ornstein as he is easily dodgeable and attackable at the same time unlike this hammer monstrosity which one shots me even if i get nicked once
First, seeing people somehow deal 3x more damage as me with each hit while attacking twice as fast was an integral part of my first playthrough Dark Souls online experience. (I invested heavily in Resistance.) I had no idea how they were doing it. Now I think that with clever minmaxing and using scaled weapons all of that was possible without cheating. (No idea about magic, was never a fan.)

Second, 'better' doesn't matter. You get more internet cred points if you kill Ornstein first. But you lose out on a nice ring.

Is it wise to choose the claymore over drake sword? I did a +5 already and it feels good.

Use whatever feels good to you. Every weapon can lead you to completetion of game.

Drake sword is nice boost at start but you need to learn that it has special attack and use it to get max effectivness out of it. If you will use it like normaly then it is worse sword than rest.

Drake Sword is the Newb Sword. I used it the first time I ever played Dark Souls and then never even bothered to get it ever again.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
is it me or moonlight greatsword suck compared to butterfly horn? i mean the greatsword have more raw power and awesome ranged wave attack, but the horn have better range and attack alot faster and use alot less stamina for my sorcerer

I swear magic is the most op shit ever. My sorcery focused character kills almost everyone in PVP,it just shows more that PVP is horribly balanced.
I also found another weird thing where I was hit twice by Zweihander, didn't even evade and I took no damage.
All the pointy swords in this game are too op in multiplayer, they pretty much stop you from moving.

I beat Ornstein & Smough on my first try in my first playthrough by killing Ornstein first (assisted by Sunbro Solaire, whose summoning sign is on one of the staircases outside the fog gate). Then, after realizing that melee with super-sized Smough was a dangerous proposition, I
circled a broken column to keep Smough on the other side of it while opportunistically taking shots with my bow, gradually whittling away Smough's health until he was dead.

I'm doing another run of this game and for me online is pretty much dead, only sign of it are some occasional messages from other players. Other than that no invasions, cannot invade anyone, can never get summoned and didn't see a single summon sign apart from NPCs throughout entire run. Just beat Ornstein and Smough now.

easy with solaibro
As i said many times before this, summoning signs don't appear for me (probably i said 'no' to some NPC in the start of the game, or maybe it's just 2012 saves are incompatible with the current exe or something like that). In any case, i killed them (my mistake was assuming that broken pillars do not hinder Smaug's "hammer plow" move, but they actually do, after i realized that it was easy). Dark Sun and Pinwheel were piss easy compared to O & S (although loosing bonfire because of golden bitch getting angry at me for killing Dark Sun is kinda sad)

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.

Weird. I played it recently and sure, it's not as active as DS3 right now but I could invade and get summoned.

Plus DS1 shows up as the 7th on my Steam Top Sellers list, with almost 4000 people in the game right now.

Well nevermind, my playthrough is over because steam seems to have killed my savegame. I noticed the "steam cloud" box was unchecked in my options so I enabled it in hopes for my char go have bigger longevity. Well guess what, a bunch of my old chars appeared and my current one nowhere to be found. So fuck it, I disable the steam cloud but it's same - only old chars without a sight of curent one. I was using this playthrough as a warmup for DSIII but I guess I done warmed up enough already.

Check the <My Documents>/NBGI/ folder, there should be backups made by DSFix if you used it - just replace the cloud file with one of the backups and it will be fine.

I just wanted to say that I tried DS1 multi recently (on PS3) and it was definitely active. That was before DS3 release, though.

Steam cloud is fucking terrible. Your saves will disappear, get replaced by old ones or just not work completely at random.

This is the first time I ever had a problem with it though. I guess I'll remember not to enable cloud in the middle of playthrough next time.

Thanks but I already uninstalled. I already got through the best part of the game and I have finished it too many times as it is, time to do an offline run of DSIII before getting a real version with dlcs later.
