Neither. Man up and fight him properly, you'll succeed eventually. This fucker made me stop the game for a week back in the day to keep my sanity. After the break, I killed him on my first try. Today I beat him again using pyromancy, but after DS 3 everything seems too easy in DS 1.

The minute you come through the gate, roll towards the stairs. Kill the dogs. The Demon himself is easy just watch his attack where he crosses his machetes, that's going to kill you probably if not dodged.

Edit: About the upgrades. Keeping your weapon upgraded is the single most important thing to do in Dark Souls, more important than upgrading your stats. With a good run towards Andre the blacksmith you'll get enough souls to upgrade it to +5. Also, ditch the Drake Sword, as it will become useless later on, you can't upgrade it properly. And do yourself a favor and do not watch videos and read guides in your first playthrough. Play the game by yourself. You only have one first playthrough to enjoy. You can ask here for tips, but watching videos to cheese Capra Demon behind his fog gate takes so much from the game.

Also, classes don't matter as you can spec your character the way you want. If you go full melee, dump the magic stats as faith and intelligence. Upgrade stats that you find helpful and keep an eye in scaling of your favorite weapon. I recommend upgrading vitality and stamina, plus your weapon.

100 times this. If this is your first souls game then 1000 times this.

Got the elite knight armor and drake sword. I did kill the hollow merchant to get the katana. Is it worth upgrading and keeping as a knight class? I heard it will get better with upgrades. Now I am at the capra boss after ringing the first bell. I tried fighting him but of course he immediately blocks me with his annoying dogs. I even tried throwing feces at him before entering (seen a yt video). Should I try to summon or go another way with the master key?
First playthrough already ruined:

1) Bee-lined for Elite Knight Set
2) Drake Sword
3) Killing Merchant for Uchi
4) Poop throwing at Capra demon

Hey I just followed what other users told me :P I don't mind some help thought. I remember I did this back in the days when I got powered armor early in Fallout 2 :P

I tried this game on a different computer and got a steady 30fps without DSFix but it really looked like shit on a big screen even on the highest settings, holy hell.

Considering that poison dindus are 1-time things, they are not actually that big of a nuisance compared to those hellhounds or whatever they are. Also, you can skip the barbarian on the way down if you just jump down two levels in the big rotund thingie that spider was attached too. Ground poison is also very weak (although i'm wearing red 'plague doctor' set so maybe it's decreased by resists, i dont know), so it's probably not worth getting rid of it with moss unless you have to fight something.

The poison damage isn't affected by resists, but the buildup rate is. I remember Blighttown being pretty easy the first time I went through it because I was wearing the same set so I didn't get all the hate towards the area. On later playthroughs I realized I was wearing a high poison resist set without realizing it.

:)) Thanks a lot, I really don't mind spoilers for this game since it's so frustrating sometimes....

The poison area at the bottom of Blighttown can be rather damaging for your health, but you know what they say about fortune favoring the bold, right?

Also, have you found where you can gather items that cure poison?

Those items including super-valuable purple blooming moss drop from walking trees in darkroot garden / alice in the wonderland place behind the sealed gate

The first time I played Dark Souls I took a deprived and fooled around with spears and stuff in the beginning. Got lucky enough to have a titanite catch pole from the demon in the parish. Eventually mah boi found its place in the world inside Havel's armor, weilding a Zweihander and Havel's Greatshield. I don't remember which rings I wore. But the point is that my guy was slow as fuck. Gameplay was block block block. Although the Zwei is a major pain device, I often found myself getting killed under ridiculous circumstances due to not having enough mobility and despite the fact that I was wearing the besterest heavy armor.

In my second playthrough I payed attention to equip load and mobility. Always under 37,5% with the Elite Knight Armor and two handing either a rapier or Iaito, and with Havel's ring (later replaced with FAP ring when I had enough stamina), the game was ridiculously easy by the standards of Dark Souls. Sure, I could die 3-4 times to a few bosses before beating them, but with my first character who was a blockfag I think I may have fought Ornstein&Smough over 50 times in order to win.

I really, really had a better time with a quick guy in medium armor with no shield than a heavy tank getting cockslapped all the time.

I'm playing with mouse/keyboard so that also has to say something (except from me being a fucking retard).

The same happened to me once, but someone else killed him after I was there for like 2 seconds. I didn't even see the guy.

700000+ souls.

looked at my soul counter. Jumped to pit to join him and when i respawned i jumped again.

After hours of pointless deaths on O&S i even started to contemplate cheating just to make the pain stop. Still i know it was my fuck ups - sometimes i stupidly over-casted when the fatguy jumped after O's death, other times i simply died because of Power Within eating last % of my hp, most of the time i got stunlocked to death. I looked at the videos and the sorcerers there somehow did 800+ damage with homing soulmass - are they cheaters or how is it possible to get that high even without Power Within? Is it better to kill fattie first and then deal with Ornstein as he is easily dodgeable and attackable at the same time unlike this hammer monstrosity which one shots me even if i get nicked once
