I saw your question and went looking for a video of stuff people thought was funny in this game. It was physics and AI pathing glitches (hardly intentional humor) plus this exchange:

Bandit A: "It's my birthday."
Bandit B: "Yeah?"
Bandit C: "Fuck your birthday."

Some woman claiming aliens did something and Max saying "I think she's insane" in a deadpan voice.

A sign that said the company would charge you for denting their pipes with your head (a gag used relentlessly throughout this game)

Etc.

Sooo... I don't get it either.

I have a dyke cousin who went to welding school. But she has a bad back, so I'm not sure if she should be considered strong. Best I could do. My experience with mechanically inclined homosexual wemons is limited.

And got curious. Is this a representative set of faces, or the guy just cherry-picked the worse ones?

That sample is essentially accurate, he could have made much much worse by simply hitting randomize an a PC female a few. The result of that is actually horrific. That is a fairly middle of the road sample of females in the game. Perhaps there are some more attractive outliers he could have included but its not an unfair sample.

This game has an odd sort of replay-ability. The more you play it the more you want to do another play through where you indiscriminately kill everyone immediately.

One of them yes. Although I would use the term "writer" loosely. Technicaly she/they/he/zhe does string words together into sentences. But given the vapid and shallow self-insertion fanfic content zhe/they/it/zhe/xe/assaulthlicopter produces "writer" is being generous.

The game does have fun moments once you get some of the broken perks, namely the guaranteed critical after a kill and the one that makes you move at normal speed for 7 seconds during the slowmo if you activated it with a full bar. With 100 in long guns a shotgun and another perk it basically allows you to freeze time almost indefinitely in most situations.

The hub design is getting to me though. I miss the ability to just pick a direction and walk until you stumble on something interesting. The process of fast traveling to the ship, travelling to the planet where the quest is, fast travelling to the location closest to the quest and then reversing the process got old a long time ago.

It's not that you can't do that, it's just that the only thing waiting for the player in various nooks and crannies is more saltuna.

But the main issue is the level scaling, particularly in regard to the itemization.

One moment I first arrived on Monarch and was barely surviving fights with Mantis Queens with my trusty old tinkered Deadeye Rifle, the next I went to the shop, bought a level-generated Plasma Rifle 2.0, which is waaay better then the "restricted stock" of these traders OR anything I've found as hand placed loot on Monarch so far and proceeded to murder everything.

Monarch is where I lost last shreds of goodwill toward gameplay parts of TOW. I am kind of person who opens every can and sniffs under every stone so it took me almost week of hour-long sessions to get through the place. I was on "good" route so I only had Byzantium and endgame for after and went complete pacifist there. At least plot picks up for a last couple of main quests and I story parts became almost decent.

I usually do not abandon games after putting in 10-15+ hours, but completing TOW took some conscious effort.
