I had forgotten about that shit. There are some hilarious results.
Wow, I can't believe that Sephiroth lost to the Gears of War dude... and Kane lost to Andrew Ryan?

They're just trolling.

If it does get released, trust it to be utter shit. You cannot mod a game and not involve the community in creation. Their development policy was absolutely retarded.

Nah, it's legitimate.

However, Xen will not be included. They're still working on that and release it as an Episode later.

No. Development on xen is already underway and we hope to have it finished up in a reasonable timeframe. Xen is going to basically be a complete game in its own right, it's not going to be just an epilogue to the game; more of a whole new chapter. It'll be pretty well expanded.

HL2 was a good game, it had weak-ish bits but fun overall. Same as HL, really - though of course HL was far more innovative back then with a lot of *holy shit* moments (the tentacle boss... good times), while HL2 was just a solid game. Didn't play the "episodes".

Much to the contrary : Xen is the one place where HL really needs an improvement. I am still not playing Source before they tackle that part. Keeping great game design and letting it stay great game esign is not that much of a prowess.

Shit, and to thinkI am about to play the Dreamcast version for kicks.

I don't think they ever promised to improve on the actual game design simply update it under the Source engine. Xen is just poorly designed and beyond redemption.

Xen was the only shitty part of an otherwise excellent game.

Btw, this is not a 1:1 total conversion of HL1. The devs took some liberties to change/improve(?) certain levels.

I'm curious about the AI and animations. Everything had to be created from scratch.

The only problem with Xen was that it felt more like a platformer level than a HL level which didn't fit the game at all. They just need to change the level layouts and keep the cool stuff like Big Momma (minus the getting-her-stuck abuse) and Giant Alien Fetus.

How so? How another version of joypad or Carmac Occulus or something peripherally else can be an exciting thingy? On the other hand, pure hardware "steam-box" sounds fun. And steamy.

Well, since this is the Valve Thread, I'm posting this info right here:

Valve 'frustrated by lack of innovation' in PC hardware, 'jumping in'
Hiring hardware specialists for apparent development

http://www.computerandvideogames.co...lack-of-innovation-in-pc-hardware-jumping-in/

Will they limit themselves to input devices? Or a pre-made PC? Or a Linux-based console?

Shit just got real
:flamesaw:

Valve are over-reaching, but so did Apple; the fanboys will flock.

Oh God-Gaben,lead us to the promised land Gabecube:bounce::bounce::bounce:

How is developing another niche peripheral device regarded as 'innovation?' M+K work just fine for pretty much every genre of game except for some platformers (which are more traditionally associated with consoles, anyway). A 'Steam Box' would probably be more profitable. Just use cheap guts and slap the Valve logo on it. Works for Dell/Alienware.
