I cannot fathom the reason for choosing a key based camera control scheme. Most games have it so that the camera can be used by a console control stick. Why would you advertise a top down game and then go oh wait a sec guys, let's make the camera key based! What a good idea! People are going to enjoy it more that way !

NWN2 likely had it because you could control a character from a very close FOV ... or because the designers of that horrible game made just as terrible decisions as the one made here.
There's an option for edge scrolling that's not turned on by default.

I only got around to play with character creation (and talked to Vargas at the 'retirement party'), but I like it so far. I mean, character creation screen is atrocious and should be changed to be more Fallout like - there's really no excuse not to have everything on one screen - but the character system itself is neat. Every point counts and makes You think where to spend it.

I encountered a few bugs so far.
- exporting custom characters does not save their portraits correctly (they get the default portrait)
- dual cursor with the in-game one following Windows one, was fixed by alt-tabing and returning
- some scroll lists on character creation screen go crazy on me randomly and start jerking up and down, making them unable to use, was fixed by going back to the previous screen and then foward again

I'm on Windows 7 64 bit.

BTW, so far game works smoothly on my Q6600 (@3 Ghz), GTX 460 (@810Mhz) and 4GB RAM at maxed out settings in 1680x1050 resolution, but I only got to play 'in the field' for maybe ten minutes. Tried to dig up the grave and died in one combat turn.

Don't fuck with Vargas, bros.

Camera controlled by hotkeys (and lots of them too ... Q, E, W,A, S, D and mousewheel up and mousewheel down (LMAO) - you can't tell me that that isn't clunky.

Hahaha.
Bad design either way.
WASD to pan the camera
QE to rotate the camera
mousewheel to zoom

That is good design. Very efficient.

Anyone else having FPS issues with AMD video cards? I get 20 FPS when I zoom out, around 40-50 when I'm up close ... 35 in the inventory screen :/

The 3D camera should be fine, IF the developers implement a control scheme whereby you can rotate the view 90 degrees clockwise/counterclockwise at the touch of a button. Get a mouse with two side buttons (most have them these days), use those side buttons for clockwise/counterclockwise rotation, the scroll wheel for zoom, edge scrolling of course, and the middle mouse button to reset/center the camera.

Otherwise, it'll be an annoyance, and demonstrates why we should give them even more money so they can go full 2D. What a crazy world we live in, in which it costs more to make a 2D game now.

I don't get paid until tomorrow, fuuuuu

Problem though - I've got an old PC - so I'm definitely interested to see how it runs on a wolfdale dual core and 4850.

Edit - any one with similar hardware able to tell me how it runs?

I think I've encountered a UI bug but I'm not sure. I have selected the Demolitions skill icon on my character that has Demolitions, there was some line thing that went across the bottom of the UI ... and now the UI is locked on that character, I can't select any other character, though I can select other skills in the action bar.

To fix it I had to deselect all characters with space bar, then switch to another character.

I have had a similar thing happen and there are reports of it on the official forum too.

I think I still don't understand what you're on about the keyboard shortcuts. It's like someone forces you to use them just because they exist.
The camera is controllable with just the mouse.

Read what I said in the post.

Essentially: Make everything left click

Bind camera rotation to hold RMB, then it would be MUCH EASIER to navigate the world. If you want to change the perspective, hold RMB and rotate around, then you get up and down rotate as well as left and right rotate and you don't have to lock the rotation to discrete steps - like is currently happening.

It's especially annoying in combat

It's actually designed especially FOR combat so that you don't move instead of shoot something by accident, which can be disastrous in turn-based.
