Removed the Silent Move skill and related stuff
So does that mean it's gone forever? :)

Adding move cooldown to NPC Combat behaviour where the NPC is moving towards target
:smug:

I'd be more impressed by your smugness if I believed you had any idea what that actually means.

MLMarkland Brother None?

We could probably word that entry better...

That means that NPCs are smarter about whether to charge the Ranger squad and won't do it over and over again.

Playing it now. The graphics have surely improved, the ground no longer glows like this:

Now it is like this:

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better.

Also noticed some stuff like new NPCs lying around and a store on the first area. And lots of blood. Sadly, as a keen eye must have noticed, my save is already corrupted... guess the bug on using custom portraits is back.

Synth tech has been merged into computer tech, yes.
Though normally a shrinking skill list would unnerve me, in this case I'm into it. I would never make a 'tech' character who was intended to be good at one but not the other, and in terms of visualization it makes decent sense.

Got that same thing with the custom portraits, although for me it happens right off the bat, as soon as my characters are saved. Custom portraits have always been buggy as fuck though, even last patch they often didn't save and reverted to default black man. :kfc: Hopefully they can release a small patch to fix that issue..

my save is already corrupted...

Christ. This shit again. Neat.

EDIT: Already encountered my first "infinite loading" bug...

...on my first load.

EDIT II: Spending a lot of time messing with the new controls, none of which feel entirely intuitive but nothing as bad as a, say, Bethesda console port. Kind of annoyed that inventory isn't fucking "I" and instead "B" but whatever. Speaking of, it's just as awkward as the screens showed us but at least it's better than before and makes for much easier accessibility between rangers . Just entered Highpool and have already noticed considerable incline in combat. Both in enemy AI, cover, graphics and general mechanics. Smoothness to edge scrolling where there wasn't before...thank christ.

1) Custom portraits will be fixed in hotfix most likely tomorrow (along with a few other things).

2) On the infinite loading, did you load a save first or start a new game?

On saves generally, one thing folks should keep in mind is that it is effectively impossible to prevent all problems with old saves until very close to final release (and even then not "all problems" but rather "the vast majority").

In many cases, a save was already "broken", prior to the update, due to some already existing bug in the build in which the save was made.

The update cannot fix saves that are already broken in this fashion. This is frustrating, especially because the Player probably does not even know that their save game is already broken. This situation is not avoidable for this, or any other game.

In some cases, if certain kinds of content or features change enough, there's no effective way for us to patch individual saves at this stage. The possible permutations of patching are too expansive. The splitting of a level or significant changes to a quest generally fall into this category.

Other types of issues include, for example, what to do when skills change. We could arbitrarily assign skill points away from a deprecated skill, for example, but would this be an effective use of dev time when the solution is just a stopgap for the Early Access phase?

Fortunately, there is a community-made save game and ranger editor available to help with these kinds of issues.

All that being said we can catch the most common offenders in save game forward compatibility over time and save games will become more resilient with each update as we approach launch.

Save games aside, this is a huge update and I've had the most fun playing the game over the past few weeks that I've ever had playing a game I worked on.

If anybody has specific questions let me know.

A momentary annoyance, just map it to I, it's not actually used by anything else.

Why does Inxile hate Energy weapons? Is it just the screen that's broken or does putting points into them actually still do nothing after all this time? (If yes I wonder why they didn't just blur it out like other skills that don't work...)

Edit: Why is my hair an equipable item?
Edit Edit: I'm also apparently able to unequip my head, all of this is really bloating my inventory.. I have 4 items per ranger that makes up all of my costumization options.

You don't start with an energy weapon or a heavy weapon if you put points into those skills. You can find energy weapons in the world, as well as heavy weapons. You can also purchase a SAW from the merchant at Ranger Citadel, but that requires some work if you want to acquire it prior to going to Ag Center or Highpool.

Infinitron hiver I'd understand if he has it but would prefer to wait until the final version before playing. I know I'm doing the same, despite being really excited for the game.

First impressions can be powerful things.

Just ask TB to do a WTF, that will give you more publicity than money can buy inxile, and probably would only involve putting your producers ass... in the line for some British love. :smug:

New trailer
Obviously made by someone from the team and not a actual editor; stuff like 30 seconds just to show the skills list was lame. But at least is a trailer with gameplay. Also:

ENDLESS VARIETY OF ENEMIES!
Seriously Brother None, please introduce Fargo to the concept of false advertising. The game does not have endless enemies (it barely has 10 atm), he simply cannot state a hard fact like that on a official promotional material and walk away; one could sue him over this and win easily. There's a reason why Borderlands says they have "87 Bazillion Guns" instead of UNLIMITED GUNS: they do not have unlimited guns, saying so would be a lie.

At least say "ALMOST endless variety of enemies"; is still absolute bullshit, but doesn't imply that your game randomly generates them or has some other system that makes enemy variety actually endless.

I like the trailer... it shows actual gameplay without the bullshit, and not some bullshit pretencious CGI shit.. and false-gameplay moments from the game.. that most AAA trailers do..

Also... Didn't TB already to a WTF about WL2? Quite sure he will then.
