She does it to actually get rid of her power and her "destiny" (which is to birth a child that'd become THE BIG SHIT, Sapkowski's own Kwisatz Haderach) coz she's sick of it.
Abandoning her destiny to become an Empress with world altering powers to become a mutated witcher is a act of cowardice not courage.

As said in my opinion her choice is a tragedy which would make her miserable rest of her life.

Yet I can bet that ingame she will be portrayed the complete opposite, as strong independent girlboss, that dont neen no man, that is so badass for her choice and with no regrets for her life choices.
Yeah, if she does that, she doesn't get to bitch at the state of the world. Peasants kill girl as offering to a monster? Don't like it? Well maybe you could've done something about it as a fucking empress, you retarded cunt.

The object is to replace him.
They said it so, right after Blood and Wine that his story is over.

That's not what i'm talking about.

They are gender swapping Geralt specifically to denigrate him and masculinity in general.

If they wanted to tell a Ciri story they could have easily done so with a spin off, but that wouldn't serve their agenda.

She has to be him specifically, even if that actually downgrades her in power.

This is not actually Ciri you are seeing, but Geralt with tits.

I just saw a youtube thumbnail of a video on a movie called "Cleaner", being "Die Hard with a girl boss", and it dawned on me what's wrong with Witcher 4's trailer and with every girlboss trailer, and why these guys are doomed to lose.

It's biology. Both men and women like looking at men with furled brows, the image makes him look confident. Yet nobody likes the look of a woman with furled brows and bared teeth. This just makes you want to leave her alone.

They actually look pathetic when they grimace.

Considering her own biological father wanted to rape her so her miraculous child is also his, it's kindda understandable.
I was under the impression he didn't want to to do it hence why he didn't do it when he had the chance. It was more of a case of he thought he had to do it.

Oh, don't worry. The writers will push an anti-monarchy and anti-nobility angle in an attempt to cover all their bases despite such elements being a large part of what makes a fantasy/medieval setting immersive and engaging in the first place.

FYI, he was convinced (by Vilgefortz, no less) it is the only way to save the world.

I've played TW3 and I'm pretty sure about half of the quests were already about awful mean men abusing women somehow. What are we aiming for in W4? 75%?

Women at the highest role of power often end up being more authoritarian, conqueror and bloodthirsty than men i.e Anna of Kiev, Catherine 2, Victoria...

if they were so hellbent on making a Ciri game/saga
...they should make a prequel that takes place between Witcher 2 and 3, and Ciri is still a little girl:

d9z4why-b55964d8-0329-48b3-a6fb-a8de1cfeb49c.png

Ciri was a little girl in the novels, long before the events of Witcher 1.

Bam, 5 million copies sold in Japan alone. Maybe 10 million if you make sure the selectable costumes include maid, schoolgirl, shrine maiden, witch with a big hat etc.
That's your pedo brain talking. Please stop.
It would be free money & superior aesthetics smoothly combined, but of course the big JEW with their feminist cohorts would never allow it. You will play as an old hag with a swollen face, unhealthy amount of water retention signalling menopause, dry cunt, use of birth control, low fertility, hypothyroidism, and a general downfall of the Western Civilization.

Only men can be Witchers, so Ciri is taking not only Geralt's place but that of pretty much every other potential Witcher in the story.
If they can bring Geralt from dead, and un-molten glass Regis, they can also say "hey, someone actually managed what Alzur couldn't and made it so Trial works on women now" or "Ciri's plot device blood made it possible."

(((They))). Do. Not. Care. At. All.

You'll have female witchers, black elves, gay angels, tranny kings/queens, hindu Thor, Chinese Julius Ceasar, bipoc king Arthur, Goddess-Empress of Womankind, etc., stepping on your face, forever. Only psychopathic villains will be cishet White men, everyone else will be somewhere high up on the oppression/intersectionality matrix.

Or, just don't consoom woke goyslop. You can do nothing, and win.

Just started with the books. Up to the third short story.

I can see the author is fairly Fedoraish and quite a bit nihilistic, and also seems to have pagan sympathies.

Still early to comment but i'm going out of a limb and assume the whole girls can't be Wichers thing has more to do with boys bieng expendable than anything else.

Also, it's not like bieng a Witcher has any particular place of honor in this world. Geralts seems to have some sort of man with bo name kinda deal, just killing monsters for a paycheck.

Like i said i just started with the books but it seems the author just has a low view of everybody, men or women. The world is cynical in general, it's not gender specific.

Also, all the stories like to reference popular fairy tales, just in a twisted manner, which to be honest is kinda weird.

Sapkowski's works are much ado about nothing.

Sounds exactly in sync with Witcher 3, where all the "enlightened" people like witchers, sorceresses, etc. seem to be completely secular (despite 100% empirically confirmed existence of ghosts and the afterlife), the local equivalent of the Roman Catholic Church is portrayed with rabid foaming-at-the-mouth hatred at every opportunity, and various goddess-worshipping pagan cults (muh Freya, muh Melitele) are portrayed in a neutral-sympathetic light.

There's even a sidequest to restore some of the pagan idols and beat up the marxist extremist that were toppling them. And all the weapon runes are named after various slavic gods, in case you were wondering. Dazhdbog, Chernobog, Perun, etc. Well, except the one that's named after a dumpling.

Even though the statues of this "goddess" look like a hideous deformed hag (is this historically accurate? is this what the slavic pagans worshipped before being Christianized?), and a major part of the main quest is confronting a trio of hideous hags who are being worshipped by the local villagers and are unambiguously malevolent. No connection is made between these two curiously-similar elements.

Ok this is a p. definitive summary of everything there's to be said about Ciri as a witcher.

It's coming from someone who's actually excited to play as Ciri, which I'm not, but everything he says is factualy correct.

Also his theory about the most important question - why would Ciri willingly go through the Trials when she was already the most powerful mage in the world - is probably right. She does it to actually get rid of her power and her "destiny" (which is to birth a child that'd become THE BIG SHIT, Sapkowski's own Kwisatz Haderach) coz she's sick of it. Considering her own biological father wanted to rape her so her miraculous child is also his, it's kindda understandable.

can't even give them the benefit of the doubt when they hire writers(journos) like these, sorry

Witcher 3 criticized religions adequately, like the greedy satyr, who was masquerading as their god, kept demanding more food from pisspoor starving peasants.

One of the weakest parts of the game is Radovid's deterioration as a character though, going from a political mastermind in 2 to a bloodthirsty tyrant in 3, and the lack of a rational Eternal Flame/Flaming Rose character a la Siegfried, that shows the order has well meaning people in it. Graden was one of them, or that's what CDPR intended I think, but he's so irrelevant compared to drug smuggling Ulrich and witch burning Caleb Menge.

Yes, this is a terrible pity. Firstly, because the original Church of the Eternal Fire from the novels wasn't really an RCC equivalent. Secondly, because CDPR was SO INSISTENT on having to bash RCC, they transformed the CEF into an RCC equivalent. Fucking tryhards.
