I got a cheater question- is there any way in Wiz 8 to create a party and trick the game into thinking you're importing a party from Wiz 7 or 6?

I don't think there are any crucial differences. If you import you just get 5 levels at the start for free and you get to keep the gear you brought over. Both can be easily done with the editor. The only other difference, afaik, is a few NPCs spout some references to the events on Guardia but that's just cosmetic.

Yeah, the party banter in W8 was godly, that's how you give character to player-configured chars

It's really a shame that nobody took W8's template and build on it.

It's basically the same game as W6 for PC, albeit with improved graphics and automap.

When you talk to NPCs instead of the keyword system where you have to fish for information, they basically tell you everything instantly (I remember that this could have been due to how the fan-translated patch handled it, as the SNES W6 isn't so much translated as the PC script inserted into it).

I felt your to hit chance in the beginning was lower than in the PC-version, making it somewhat harder, though I've no prove whether that's actually true or not.

Overall, it's pretty great and apart from the character portraits who have a slight anime touch, it's western looking almost all the time.

I gave the five flowers to Xen Xheng (he didn't stop me and say "you need this item"). Can I ever get them back?

W6 on the SNES is great, and the preset characters are actually pretty monocled. It's a lot easier than the PC version for the first few hours.

Importing cool stuff from W6 to W7 is definitely a major advantage of playing the PC version, really gives you a major boost in the early stages of W7

Has the name of the world on which the first six Wizardry's take place ever been mentioned anywhere?

The only reference to a specific place that I can remember in the original games is Llylgamyn, which is a city...

There's one extra major thing I really dislike about Wiz8 - some RPCs won't go here, some won't go there, jesus christ. I mean, why? What is the gameplay logic behind that? Is it meant to cut you down to 6 PCs to prevent you from being too OP in the late game areas? But then if you take on Rodan and Drazic, blow up the Black Ship and then simply don't report back to Yamir you can take them anywhere anyways. AND without repercussions afaik since you get all your XP for blowing up the ship before you hand Rodan and Drazic back to Yamir.

It's nonsensical and annoying. I recruited Saxx and Sparkle and I want to take both of my shitty characters wherever I damn please. No matter tho, I edited the shit ouf of this in the Cosmic Forge :smug:

I think the idea was that you try out different companions

Sure but that should be up to me.

In some cases, you need the spots open to recruit certain NPC's from an area. Think rescue mission.

Yeah but again, I should be able to take my RPCs to Bayjin or Rapax Camp, discover I need to dismiss them for a time, rage a bit and then do it then and there. Instead of not being able to take them at all. Sir-Tech should really reconsider that for the next Wizardry.

just run around to deplete their stamina and kidnap them into the area while they are ko'd

problem solved
