OK, found it, thanks. I've got the postcount forum added to my places to look.
I don't know if anybody here has been following this, but apparently dfortae finished his remake of Wizardry 6 within the Wizardry 7 engine. The download link can be found through the video information section. I've been wondering when he would release it and am definitely going to be trying it out, people in the comments have confirmed that it works for them.
I can understand that, it does have its own unique feel. I'm just interested to try it as a novel experience. I like the graphics and presentation of both Wizardry 6 and 7 pretty much equally. It's pretty cool from a technical perspective, but from watching some of his livestreams, I think I'd rather just play Wizardry 6. The oppressive atmosphere is completely gone when the castle dungeon looks like New City.
The Expanded 1.1 mod ? if yes, then you need to put a fan patch 1.28 build 4850 - download http://www.postcount.net/forum/show...anniversary)&p=3999759&viewfull=1#post3999759WTF, Wiz8 has stopped working for me suddenly on my win7 laptop that I use for classic gaming. Enhanced version just crashes instantly, while running original either ctds instantly (steam version) or gives "insert proper CD and restart" prompt (gog version). Never saw anything like that on any machine I played Wiz8 on and did not mess with the laptop in any way. Searching the net gives nothing. Anyone had similar problems perhaps?
Someone recommended a mapping program to me awhile ago regarding The Bard's Tale but I can't remember what the recommendation was exactly.
Probably Grid Cartographer. Excellent program, highly recommended.Someone recommended a mapping program to me awhile ago regarding The Bard's Tale but I can't remember what the recommendation was exactly.
GC doesn't support The Bard's Tale yetProbably Grid Cartographer. Excellent program, highly recommended.Someone recommended a mapping program to me awhile ago regarding The Bard's Tale but I can't remember what the recommendation was exactly.
I meant for manual mapping, not automapping. I figured that's what the recommendation was for as well. In any case, it's what I would recommend for Wizardry 1.GC doesn't support The Bard's Tale yetProbably Grid Cartographer. grid cartographer works in wine but I never tried the gamelink part of itHmm, it seems like there's no free CRPG mapping software that runs natively on Linux. I'm gonna have to pause my Wiz1 playthrough for now, but on the bright side, now I've got a good idea for a school project.
Because it makes multiclassing bad.Why does Cleve hate Wizardry 8?
new party is more challenging, but if you have a party from W6 to W7 to W8 it feels more epicSo, import Wiz 7 party into Wiz 8? Or start Wiz 8 with a new party?
Which is more fun and/or challenging? I have grown estranged to my Wiz 7 party by now, so there's no sentimental reasons to import them.
If you're gonna import, do the whole trilogy from 6-8 for the full experience. I did that and it was very cool, there's also some very tangible benefits from importing which you don't get from starting fresh. So, import Wiz 7 party into Wiz 8? Or start Wiz 8 with a new party?

This got me thinking about how many people actually still had their save from 7 when 8 first came out. Probably like 12 worldwide.Importing is more prestigious if you've had your character files saved to a 3.5 floppy in the 90's, waiting for the next release a decade later. But if you have no attachment to your party, then probably a fresh start would be tougher. Although imported characters have stats/levels reset and equipment stripped as expected.
There's no multiclassing you low functioning sperg, there's hybrid PROFESSIONS and PROFESSION switches.Because it makes multiclassing bad.Why does Cleve hate Wizardry 8?
Back in the day, hardware and software specification were obviously a lot different. Due to storage limitations on the PC, I often had to uninstall DOS games to make room for another. But I was in the habit of backing up save files and end game files to a 3.5 disk... just in case. What's more amazing to me is that the developers of Wizardry 8 even kept importing in mind and allowed for such functionality. This got me thinking about how many people actually still had their save from 7 when 8 first came out. They're called professions in Wizardry 6/7/8. If you're going to be pedantic, get it right. There's no multiclassing you low functioning sperg, there's hybrid classes and class switches.
Even more amazing is the fact that you get a safe file at the end of 8 too, considering the trilogy's story has definitely concluded and more importantly SirTech was dead broke.Back in the day, hardware and software specification were obviously a lot different. Already done 6+7, and I have the final save game from 7. At least I hope so. Which file(s) do I need?If you're gonna import, do the whole trilogy from 6-8 for the full experience.
