For me it was Lionheart. Setting had so much potential if used properly - and it all dissolved into mindless and meaningless clicka-clacka. It had tarnished both Black Isle and Interplay names to boot. Heh, I looked up what other shit the developers have churned out in the meantime, and the list is quote telling.

Not even close to any of these. Pools of Radiance deleted my hard drive twice and it's not even as bad as some of the shit I've played.

How the fuck did you manage to do that twice?

I need to know this too.
I installed it on my computer and didn't like it so I uninstalled it, which ruined my hard drive. I fixed my computer but my dad found the disc and decided to install it. He didn't like it either so he uninstalled it. Then I broke the disc in half. This was before it was widely known uninstalling the game would ruin your computer and it might have been before we had the internet.

Descent Underworld is so shit people even forgot Avellone was one of the designers just so people can say he never did a horrible, shit, boring game.
It's buggy as hell, borderline unplayable. But when it works I find it decent, way better than games like Thunderscape, Menzoberranzan and even Stonekeep.

Combat is simplistic, but the magic spells & potions are cool and MCA's writing does feel unique and makes talking to characters interesting:

Being able to spot MCA so easily only shows how shitty and bland the writing is on 99% of RPGs out there.

That's questionable, but when is the right word here. Which is, sadly, quite rare to happens.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I'm pretty sure there are loads of horrible RPGs out there but of the ones I actually spend money to get, my worst would be
DA2,DA:I and Oblivion
And yeah, I don't know why I got DA:I after DA2.
Especially with Oblivion though, I couldn't get past the first hour of the game, I found it always overwhelmingly boring and tedious. But it looked good..

Pathfinder: Wrath
Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny HD is the only true answer here. The other options might be bad, but they are leagues ahead of this turd.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
I played all of them. In a way, I can forgive Legacy of the Crusader, Descent to Undermountain, Might and Magic IX. Obviously they were released for the dough by troubled companies. If they succeeded on their vision, each game probably wouldn't be too crappy, and in the case of Lionheart, had some brilliance tucked in there in parts. There are also games that folks didn't like the direction the game went and they were buggy piles anyhow: Ruins of Myth Drannor and Arkania. In this, I don't really know if any of these games are the worst ever.

The only one that could stay on any list of worst is, unfortunately, Ultima IX. It was Ultima by folks who never played Ultima. Too big a shift, too buggy, dated and poorly optimized engine, too much hype and an incredible let down. God only knows what happened there, but as much as I like the Ultima series, I spent my time playing this game kind of shaking my head.

Is unique and interesting RPG codex speak for a couple of generic options found in all RPGs and a Dirty Harry rip-off?

Arcania can't be that bad can it?

Yes it can...really. You may see it looks nice and has some nice vistas but it's so fucking uninspired and basic and easy on every level that it feels like an iphone port. Maybe being a Gothic fanatic I'm extra butthurt, but truly from all the RPG maker trash, D2U, crap from the early 90's, Oblivion etc.there is nothing more pointless and shitty than this game. It's lazy as fuck, the same 5 character models you face, the same feeble mobs, no genuine rewards for exploration, no sense of progression, linear as fuck while pretending to be open world.

The big problem is how cynical it all was, you could see it was an attempted by the numbers cash in by Jewood before their demise. Futher shown by the 3 hr long 'expansion' Fall of Shit-ariff'.

No matter how flawed the other games on the list are here, at least you could never say that the developers didn't at least try. With Arcania they didn't even do that.

Spelljammer: Pirates of Realmspace
What?
Spelljammer is quite interesting game that just suffers from severe bugs. It has proper and very intense combat, some exploration and quests. It's a very short game, though. Also Neogi and their umberhulks are real pain in the ass.

Not even close to any of these. Pools of Radiance deleted my hard drive twice and it's not even as bad as some of the shit I've played. Did you people ever browse Home of the Underdogs back in the day and indiscriminately download any RPG you could find? Because that's what I did and there is just some absolute irredeemable shit out there that is far, far worse than anything on this list. There was nothing good about The Red Crystal: The Seven Secrets of Life. Bad Blood is another awful game. I made a topic about the worst game I've ever played, The Holy Sword The Ring. So yeah, none of these games can even compete, not even the Blade of Destiny remake.
Anyone can make a shitty game in their basement. There are games worst than those you posted on the RPG Maker community and even on Steam.

But the truly horrific ones are those that fool people into playing them, into having high hopes - "OMG! A modern Pool of Radiance sequel made by the team behind (some of) the Gold Box series!!!!", "OMG!!! A AD&D-based Daggerfall-like game made by Interplay! And Chris Avellone wrote it!!! or "OMG, Ultima in 3D! Even farts are dynamically calculated and can make birds leave their nest depending on what the Avatar ate!!".

You can't compare that to paying two potatos for an unknown Taiwanese game with Link Zelda in the cover.

Can we add SCL then? It meets your criteria. Almost all game sales were from Pre-Sales Hype, the store page has a laughably low score. (Hated by mainstream)
Everyone thought this game was gonna be NWN3 and it ended up being a shitty version of a Dark Alliance Game.

If it can win awards for looking good, it can win awards for actually being shit. :troll:

Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex USB, 2014 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
There are a lot of contenders. In terms of the poll, though, Ultima IX takes the cake.
