People that say that they hate Erretis or that he's just another Minsc clearly:
  1. Don't have Scan Thoughts. (Seriously, playing anything other than Nano/Scan Thoughts is a shit choice).
  2. Didn't have Matkina before trying to recruit him.

So apparently I started the endgame sequence after ~14 hours. Main char has an excess of 500 XP so I doubt I missed anything major. I expected something similar to PoE in length but this is much closer to AoD.

I did everything I could find including the sidequests for the companions I didn't use (and fucking Tantalum), but I never reloaded to check other outcomes and played combat sped up. Sagus is basically half of total playtime.

Regarding Scan Thoughts, it's mostly flavour and you can get a item which gives it to you at the halfway point.

Yeah it's mostly flavor but 99% of this game is reading flavor text so getting insights into characters and understanding them better is actually a much bigger benefit than other ability options.

The Genocide guy? Technically, his story is relevant because it reveals how the Changing God saved the city from him and his pals, IIRC. Thing is, his story is just info dump upon more info dump about things you know nothing about and don't really care because you're not given any reason to care (what the fuck is the Underspine other than "it's our slave, our master, our God blarghblargblargh dick slurp dick slurp" and how is it in any way relevant to me, for example?).

Bro, I know his story might have been an info dump or whatever else - for you - but there is a lot small things like that in the translation. Person who was responsible for those errors probably had no idea what he/she is translating at times. It is a problem, because some random potato who "can't into inglese" won't understand those things at all.
That was only an early example of how shitty the translation is. Info dump which doesn't make any sense is still worse than something that makes it, especially because it MIGHT be actually relevant to some dude.

I am fascinated to see what will happen with Inifere's dialogue in translation. I ran a phrase of it by a very talented Polish translator and after much wrangling he managed to make something with it, but only with my deconstructing the sentence and his spending a lot of time on it. If Inifere's dialogue is just literally translated it will be nonsensical.

14 hours??? Jesus. Fargo promised that Sagus is like 30% of the game!

Yeah, so far it's the only character I like even remotely. I fucking hate Happynegro and Tumblrista. Matkina could be OK, not sure yet, and Aligern is just meh.

It sorta annoys me that the main character gets fuckall out of his Descriptor/Focus, while every Companion is shitting unique skills out of every orifice. Why would Matkina get "Castoff Vitality" and shit out of her "Murders" focus? Why does Aligern get "Spurred by Ink" from "Fights His Demons"? Such horseshit.

And you believed it?

I kept hearing the 1/3 figure, but I always figured it was much closer to 1/2 or more.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk i fucked up the Levy quest.
If you mention the cognizant Levy to the Lady-of-Levies, she sends for its disassembly
I tried to stop it, even went to the place where they're made, but not one mention of it. can anyone fill me in on what happens otherwise? I don't have a save that goes THAT far back

But you meet so many irrelevant and tiresome NPCs in the first couple hours, it drags you down.

Defiance Bay in POE was criticized for being lifeless. TTON is criticized for having too many characters you can interact with. Protip: You don't have to talk about everything with everyone.

This thread made me think. And I don't really remember. Did "Don't trust the skull moment" in PST had any meaningful follow-up? Or just awesome moment in itself and that was it?

Well, we cant forget that Morte was part of the Pillars os Skulls, made of heads of liers and deceivers.

So far I've seen recommendations for the game in this thread from people who seem coherent, and screaming and drooling from those who are constantly crying about SJWs, so I'm convinced to buy the game and then I shall give the definitive review. The posts by Lacrymas are the ones that give me the biggest pause because that's kind of how I figured the game would turn out.

It's getting 9/10 reviews everywhere. Hip hot takes from millenials on kotaku who spend their time writing top 5 lists. Any game that even has pretenses towards writing will likely blow their minds

If my posts are giving you pause then don't buy it. It's not on the level of PS:T, nowhere close, it just has the surface elements, but none of the understanding, character drama or setting that makes sense within the context of the narrative. Sure, the setting is "weird", but it's that only for the sake of it. I'd even say it's just a mishmash of random "weird" ideas.

Do you mean the one that's full of sorrow?

You make a machine that transfers life from the baker dude to the levy, levy gets healed, baker goes off for a nap. Its kinda nice.

Uh when only one person in the thread is saying he finished the game that quickly you should consider the possibility that he's a freakishly fast reader before pulling out he Fargo memes

This pic should be really added to our smilies.

If you actually watch the film, the guy in the photo isn't actually a liar. The main character writes that to make himself think he's a liar rather than accept the truth.

This LPer's bemusement at the random reference I threw in here made me laugh.

EDIT: Ha, he's equally perplexed by the Cleve reference that follows.

You can pirate the game and see for yourself. If you enjoy it, buy it.

Fixed.
