Just finished the beast on the first try, wasn't that bad, took 5 gas grenades, few HEs, and some 9mm w2c ammo I've hoarded for K&H, no caltrops/bear traps. I even forgot to pop focus stims. I'm wondering how the hell sniper or melee build would work, probably lots of traps?

Anyway, how much stealth you need in order to sneak through gray army base?

Currently have ~150 and often they've spot me on sight, didn't even have to get close.
Tried to pick them one by one with mini izu, but got bored and went full murderhobo on the whole base.
Spec Ops armor seems cool with bio res, might come in handy in expedition.

I did gray army base with 140 stealth yesterday, was annoying and had to spam f9 + needed 7 agi to jump over fence in the area where the oil is

think I make another char now since theres a good chance my last run is dead

probably something melee maybe dex dagger or str with x weapon need to check feats again to plan it out

actually i dont think you need that high? You just need to get from vent to vent + obtain uniform

you hit rat king, get shit ton of traps.
traps(bear+occasional acid) + caltrops(crawler) everywhere. + you keep throwing gas grenades. Works on dom for every build, no need to attack. If you do need to attack, you didnt set up your ambush properly.

+ needed 7 agi to jump over fence in the area where the oil is
if you got stealth you probably got 7agi

Dunno if some of their variants have uber high detection etc but it felt like a bug - the stealth meter didn't even fill up, combat started immediately when I was in sight, even dozen tiles away. Tried to sneak through the last area with the oil, but immediately after jumping over the fence some guy on the other side of the map always spotted me. That was the last straw and I said fuck it.

okay figured out another build melee not sure yet which weapon probably knives

3 str
10 dex (throwing knife feats maybe if I spec into knives)
8 agi (sprint, uncanny dodge, fancy footwork)
8 con
3 per
3 will
5 int (expose weakness for beefier targets, cheap shots)

start with sprint + nimble

based on this no reason to have 4-5 str instead of 3 so rather get more con

kinda wanted to do melee str build or shotgun without stealth but stealth is probably better since Im still trash at this game
unlike last playthrough I skip diplomacy + pickpocketing this time
also I wanted to have high perception so I don't miss too much stuff but guess I can't help it

are you sure that your armor penalty is at 0%?

Ops enemies(with night vision) got helmets that boost detection

Max dex and low str kind of locks you into fists/daggers, doesnt it?

if daggers you will want 5 will and 6 int. At that point just drop that CON and go with 10 AGI for blitz. Extra movement is always welcome too.

5 will for ripper guess I go with that since I have 10 dex already
6 int for weaponsmith?

oh well think I just drop 2 con for 2 will and see how it goes

yes

those 2 points are best at either agi(blitz, sneak, dodge if used, movement are all huge bonuses) or int(crafting feats, crafitng in general, mercantile)

sprint+fancy footwork is useless. Drop sprint.

BTW: im of opinion that expose weakness is inferior choice to versatile and equiping a laz0r in stabby build. Once you come to terms with it - boosting INT to 9 and picking high technicalities comes naturally.

Don't need EW anyway, kukri does the same thing, except its only 25% reduction instead of 50%, but its enough, EW is considered a weak feat these days.

Yeah, it's definitely the spec ops guys. They're naturally better than the standard soldiers and then their helmets give them +60% on top of that. Dominating completely changes sneaking through the base by scattering them around to create "can't go here" zones unless you have really high stealth.
On the plus side, if you've ever wanted a helmet with night vision and a detection bonus+no penalty to perception...

Thought that the +60% detection googles might be the case, but still, it's bonkers from how far away they can spot you even with 150 stealth.

Distance doesn't matter if you're below the instant detection threshold. If you're in vision range they spot you instantly, the end. The factors that normally impact sneaking like facing/lighting/distance stop mattering.

And into Expeditions we go!!

Heavy Guns build is nice, loving the ability to just mow down moffos with the power of dakka although the sheer weight of all that armour, LMG and Minigun and ammo has forced me to take the Packthound perk. I specialised in Concentrated Fire and it can get pretty absurd, up to 300% bonus damage when it reaches max stacks! The minigun can easilty reach over 1000 damage per bullet, and it fire a lot of bullet. And that's without having tried it with Contaminated bullets yet.

Also, I have just discovered the joys of Rift Walking, how did I ever survive without it until now I don't know.

funny how this lovely lady just decides to charge with knife against her own turrets :salute:

Vivian :negative:half of these quests I would get fucked without stealth, fighting 8 coil spiders same time for example is beyond me even with consumables spam
based on first 3 quests I prefer JKK route over praetorian

regarding kukri I had that but..

vs
1718209143154.png

30% chance with 25% reduction vs 100% chance with 50% reduction
also kukri locks your weapon choice unlike expose weakness (until proc at least)
so it made sense for me to get it

so far I find knife more enjoyable weapon than sniper (lvl 13 now, sniper was 16) but robots are annoying mainly spamming shock knife + emp and kiting against those

I also crafted taser this time and yeah thats pretty busted

Kinda doodling up the build here. Think of (again) finishing the game with TC/TM. Robots cuck TC hard, but i think i can manage tricky places like RAF with TM and a specific headband for robot related encounters. TM not being able to crit sucks, and i love crit oriented builds.

Damn nice. Now enjoy keeping count of every single bullet and raging at that one rat hound that didn’t die with the others for the next 10 levels.
