I never heard of Cara Ellison before yesterday ... a quick search shows her main thing is analyzing storytelling in games and how to make it work, which seems like exactly what we should want in a writer. She seemed cool in the stream. Some of you are citing her involvement as problematic, which I'm prepared to believe but I haven't seen any lynx yet. Can someone point to some? Please quote or tag me if you want me to see it; I can't keep up with every post in the thread.

Once again western inferiors need to learn from their superior Japanese peers.

I hate this go-to retort we've seen ever since V5 that "WoD has always been progressive." Because I seem to remember when "progressive" was a liberal label, and not so goddamn illiberal and postmodernist. It wasn't just my imagination, right?
WoD was never "progressive" in the way naysayers want it to be. WoD was very clearly punk and anti establishment. Sometimes for the sake of it and most times with an ironic air to it. It was never self serious BLACK GAY MOOSELEM VAMPY MAN and BASH THE FASH!

You just wait, when you buy your VTMB2 Deluxe Edition with exclusive Jeanette's Panties and load the game up and you're assaulted with a legion of hermaphrodite cocks in character generator and witness sodomy between gay vampires in the streets, that's when you'll see what evil Cara Ellison is capable of delivering.

Right now you think she has great intentions. She'll help make a true successor to the Bloodlines name. Oh, but you just wait. You just wait when you're down there in a neon rave club being pounded by a train of Gangrel oil chads high on molly and wearing gimp gear with Lacuna Coil blaring in the background.

Ellison worked for Rockstar North as a QA tester on Grand Theft Auto IV until 2008.[3][15] In 2013, Ellison wrote the text-based interactive fiction game Sacrilege, which The New York Times described as a "raw exploration of female sexuality that also includes some astute observations about male desire".[16] Ellison also has collaborated with artist Howard Hardiman on Badger's Day Out, funded by a combination of a successful Kickstarter, with backing from the Arts Council England.

She was contracted by Arkane Studios as an external narrative consultant for the 2016 title Dishonored 2.[17][18]

In August 2015, she gave a keynote at Dare to Be Digital.[19]

20+ fucking pages in less than a day for the cash grab sequel to a good (but not that good) game from than 10 years ago. Jeez...

You guys should just accept it. There are no good Western AAA developers anymore. The best hope for the Western game industry is that all the AAA studios crash and burn, and the few quality Indies rise from their corpses.

As it stands only Japs know how to make quality AAA material.
If only there was something between the West and the Japs...

Things are getting worse by the hour
“It was very of its time,” Ellison said of the first game. “It approached certain topics differently. How we look at stuff has matured since then.”
“It’s fifteen years later and things have changed,” Mitsoda said. “We have to be very sensitive about how we handle things like mental illness and that was a concern for us and for Paradox, in how we can make a mature story but if we do anything, we do our homework and make sure that we are punching up and not punching down.”
“We talk about these issues constantly,” Ellison added. “Because we care about including people, we want them to feel powerful and sexy, and we don’t want them to feel like it’s not for them.”

Yeah...this gonna have Tyranny sale numbers and DeusEx: MD costs. That's only conclusion when you realise that they want every single one of these:
TnRgyd2.png

to feel included. And only way to make sure they feel safe and wanted is to make it dull, boring and as uninteresting as much as punk priest lecturing you about safe rape to EVERYONE else. These types make 1% of population and 0.1% of market cause most of their games are played through youtube emulator, either because they spend too much money on soy supplements, or too weak for more then 10 mouse clicks/h or just like to watch others having all the action and playing with ''their'' things, cucks they are. It's financial paradox so they at least are living up to their name, I guess. And that it leads to steep decline in sales has been proven time & time & time & time & time again by much bigger boys in industry. This all ordeal is yawny, to be frank

In true emo/goth kid style, my reply is: Pfffffft

1E was all about the masquerade and staying in line, so Camarilla is the establishment in the vampire world. It took quite some time before Sabbat and other shit became more than cannon fodder from the bestiary.

The four factions of Bloodlines are:

Marxist agitators. ''Communism could work with Vampires, whereas it fails with Kine."

Globalist moneybags. "Before the cries of fascist oppressor clog the city."

Gangbangers lead by deviant transfurryman. "Where are they going to deliver pizza to? Warehouse filled with hothead triggercunts 14?"

And the Great Yellow Tide. "Lol fuck you and the sewer you came from, blooodsucker."

As homework I recommend playing Bloodlines and guessing which characters said what.

Bull and fucking shit. Whenever a Dev says this, they never mean actual accessibility. I don't mean dumbing things down for idiots. Real accessibility like filters for dyslexic people or even some kind of text to speech diction for in game text would be great. But you never see that. Nor do you see some kind of toggle for people with epilepsy to toggle off effects that trigger it. Nah just dumb down the game so soy slurpers and their big black bulls can play the game.

For my game I actually intend to add handicap ramps to every building and platform I can. The world is too dangerous not to make it safer for the developmentally challenged characters.
