The "essence" of Bloodlines seems easier to replicate than Torment's or at least easier to figure out, also Numanuma had a different setting and a different story lead which in hindsight should have been red flags. Add to that that Torment's strength was the novelty or cliche-breaking if you will which made it so memorable, it is rather hard to replicate novelty. In Bloodlines, at least for me, the main strength came from the fact that it came closest (but not as close as it could) to Deus Ex in its genre hybrid style adding in decent writing and more cRPG elements. The devs seem to realize this strength which gives some hope, but they can still fuck up.

If it is a fuck up which of course it can be it shouldn't be as monumental as Numanuma was. There is hope for the gameplay, the storytelling though might suffer due to CURRENT YEAR issues. We will see how bad it is when the game comes out, I expect it will pollute some side quests. Battletech's hysteria over pronouns and SJW activism turned out to be a tempest in a teapot, a minor and irrelevant flaw when considering all the other issues with that game.

Devs focusing on pandering and virtue signalling is a huge red flag that they don't really care much about the actual game, so it really isn't a "tempest in a teapot".

The gameplay will be the generic console action game tripe that we've seen over and over in "RPGs" for the last decade or so. You should know what that entails by now. That's not to say the first one's combat was anything worth mentioning, but this'll be even more generic.

Impossible. This is going to be a melee shooter game with no options.
“You can use your social skills like seduction or negotiation, or you can just be smart about [navigating] the environment, to go around combat,” said Paradox lead producer Christian Schlutter.

All lies. Don't be naive. Start extrapolating.

:hmmm:
Do you even know what you are talking about? The jap shit came 14 years before that tender song.

The entire video game culture of Japan is built on the Western one. Including its music which uses western scale, influences, traditions and cultural trends like this. It is not about tender or that Jap song in particular but how the whole Japanese video game industry is a frankenstein made of western influences with Japanese perspective. As to be both superficial and distilled for a Japanese audience.

It should come as no surprise really, an imitation cannot be as good as original, even when it is competent. At its best it is a successful rip-off and at its worst it is shallow derivation.

I just don't understand why generate so much hype now, 1 FUCKING YEAR AWAY FROM RELEASE (1 year if optimistic, wouldn't be surprised if it gets 1 year and half, or oven two).

Also, are they planning to go on with the Tender ARG for the whole year?

If they give us a stealth option, we can at least ignore the combat.

In old game stealth was useless against bosses while was great against generic enemies and to avoid combat, in early game was vastly superior to fireweapons.
