Maybe some of you lore gurus can help me out. I had the theory, and people on Reddit as well, that Phyre is indeed in Fabien's body which would explain the modern hair. But then I rewatched the video and Phyre clearly talks about the mark on her hand and that she was covered in Thinblood vitae and not that she is in another body. So this theory is out, but maybe a Thinblood alchemy experiment failed. Anybody know anything about this?
She also mentions some bitch named Ysabella, who 'stole her power', so yeah, I guess just some sorcery ritual gone wrong (or right), and the thinblood was a sacrifice with some unintended side effects.

Probably no playable Nosferatu because changing everything so that people act appropriately to seeing a Nossie takes too much effort.
I would guess that the stand-alone DLC will be a nosferatu campaign.
Kind of doubt it, Nosferatu don't seem like a clan with a wide target audience attraction.
I mean, it's cool to have them, but I'm pretty sure that if we make a popularity chart these guys would be at the bottom.
Frankly this clans dlc idea is kind of ridiculous for single player story rpg.

Imagine the pitch though: heeey so we have this sexy vampire fiction where you play the ancient hipster looking gaylord who's going to dominate all the loosers around him with amazing powers and suck them off dry. And for a modest 14.99$ fee will instead let you play as an ugly awkward sewer dwelling nerd! $$$

Maybe it'll be Tzimisce, just imagine fleshcrafting your own furniture and decorating your haven, can even sell cosmetics as dlc this way - 'You want this screaming chair or a bed that moans each time you lie on it?'

I don't see it. Fabien is a guy. It wouldn't be his body if you're playing as a woman. This kind of twist would only work if you were forced to play as a male Phyre (even if you did choose your gender as female in the beginning, which would actually be pretty amusing; there's a way to make an elder vampire trans right there)

I wonder what Brian thinks of all this

Drinking heavily because he lost this game and his nearly-decade-long marriage over all this.

Kind of doubt it, Nosferatu don't seem like a clan with a wide target audience attraction.

DLC doesn't have to mean some short game, it could be a 10-12 hour expansion pack sequel where you play as a different character with unique mechanics. Hypothetically speaking, that would be a good way to manage scope, carrying over DLC clans to future sequels. Of course this is a "best of all possible worlds" scenario, given the nigh-universally negative reception the latest video got, we're looking at Paradox either never funding games like this again or filing bankruptcy after release.

Could be good old Infernalism, perhaps. Daemon worship and the power it grants. Big taboo in vampire society.

That was my first guess. Now I'm thinking that Phyre woke up ravenous and consumed Fabien, who is a thinblood. Somehow Fabien stuck around and became a voice in Phyre's head. How Isabella and her power sapping ritual figures in is up in the air.

People used to speculate on wether the Mitsoda BL2 was gonna let you attain clan status by diablerie. It's like they took that mid-game plotpoint and turned it into its head.

It has to be Phyre's own body since Fabien is always a white male, meanwhile Phyre can be either a female or male of turkic origin.

Likely it was a plan by Fabien and a coterie of thinbloods to take revenge on fullbloods. In the dialogue transcript ripped from that one dev's monitor, you have Fabien say that they [thinbloods] take care of eachother unlike fullbloods. This is right after thinblood-allied ghouls storm some Camarilla holding. It seems like Fabien is part of their little terrorist group.

My speculation is that thinbloods intended to use their alchemy to weaken the sleeping elder, then have one of theirs inhabit the body and control the elder. Then use that elder to further their own goals. But something went wrong and the thinblood didn't manage to take control.

Tbh, this is a known side effect of diablerie. And happens often.
Diablerie is pretty fucked up.
Most stupid Kindred who try it, especially on Elders, deserve to suffer its consequences...
I wouldn't allow it either in the game or as a Storyteller.

Vampires can't cut their hair?
You can, for like 12 hours. Then it just grows back up. Satanic black magic, sick shit.
I assumed that since vampires are supposed to be dead, once it's gone it doesn't grow back, which would explain why nosferatu are all bald. Figured the other clans have some kind of dweomer to appear however they want to hypnotize victims.

So is "Annoying ass NPC living in your head to provide monologues" going to be the new cool thing for next half a decade?

At that point I would just get a very expensive wig and call it a day.

But I wouldn't be surprised if the game forces you to have bad hair and blame it on the lore.

The vampires are cursed to remain exactly like in the moment of death. With a few exceptions: The Nosferatu become ugly as part of their transformation (the balding is often, but not universal); the Gangrel develop bestial traits as they frenzy; the Tzimisce can reshape their own flesh and bones, as well as those of others - living and dead alike - at will.

Also, despite how controversial he might have become, Brian Mitsoda was a big part of Bloodlines and his involvement with Hardsuit alleviated a lot of fears that the sequel would be nothing like the first game.

Fears that have returned in full force with THC.

This new attempt isn't looking very promising. I wonder how many on the team actually played the original.

I vaguely recall reading someone claim that Hardsuit pitched and made a game that played like a sequel to Bloodlines 2 more or less, but somewhere in the middle of development Paradox decided that it needed to be "modernized." Hardsuit/Cluney/Mitsoda just ignored that directive and kept making the game they pitched, leading to Paradox's anger when they got milestone builds that were no longer what they wanted.
I do wonder if "voiced protagonist" was one of these directives that stayed with the new version.
