IIRC there are no real penalties for dying in the story missions, various side missions have a limited number of deads before the mission fails.
on side missions, you can choose tarot cards that give stat penalties on death. But that's optional

You mean random missions? Probably just intended to freshen up the selection of side missions, in case you don't find the present selection desirable... or something like that. Never saw any specific reason otherwise.

Erm, why is there a timer on non-campaign missions?

Do they expire? Why?

To spice things up or pretend you to leave escortee on back and clean the map yourself, all those tarot cards are 100% optional you can finish campaign without any rewards from side missions anyways. Some the special game modes are fun though like this one where you hunt dark eldars or serve as beacon for lance bombardment on planet overun by demons and quarantined by Bolter Bitches both have time limits.

You mean random missions?

I mean the missions in the various planets in the star systems you travel in.

When i click on one it says "remaining time" at the bottom and it's usually between 3m and 5m.

I left the first star system to go look for the Magos whatever to heal the space marine i saved in the tutorial missions. Are all the missions in that system just going to expire? Is the system going to be empty of missions eventually?

I don't mean time limits within the mission, i mean there seems to be an expiration date on the missions themselves, the ones in the star chart.

Wait a minute, are the random missions and the missions in the star chart the same? Are the missions in the "mission deployment" basically just a list of everything contained in the star map?

I think they are just replaced with new missions.

Alright, i get it, i'm finally figuring out how this game works.

Some of those twists to the Diablo formula are interesting, but for now it seems the biggest problem with this game is lack of difficulty. Then again, most aRPGs are piss easy on "normal" difficulty so i guess that's how it has to be. This game needed harsher penalties for death though. You can pretty much do all the campaign missions at max difficutly just by wiping your way to the end, which is stupid, and the only reason not to is that i can't beat the monster prodecting those green chests before the timer expires, so i've defaulted to "insane" difficulty for now as my OCD flares up when i miss out on loot.

Also, this game really needed less generic music. The visuals are great, and the sounds are punchy and satisfying as well, but the music is mostly non-existent.

So typical Diablo-like. The game only gets hard after you've got rid of the normal content. Can't fault this game for being like every other aRPG ever, but i wish they'd stop that.

At least you don't have to finish the main campaign three times here to get to the good part lmao. Glad SOMEONE figured out that shit is just annoying.

Well, the expansion class tech adept skips the normal start and jumps into endgame so there is that. But overall the game felt mediocre, mind you some of the models look great and would have been nice to see in some of the WH40K strategy games.
But otherwise its mostly the same random generated corridors or fields, where you clear a node advance defend a node repeat and kill all the mobs.
It's not a bad game, but I lost interest in a week, yet keep going back to Gladius, don't really get this urge with this game. Maybe its more fun in MP with buddies.

damn, should have really started straight with a season character, the game's giving way more loot there.
Tech Adept is fun, having the pets do all the work, but the gameplay is less involved that with the other classes, since it's more less stand around and respawning the pets as needed

Harder game would make people ask for refunds and campaign was atmospheric enough and fun for me to finish it and then play the one from the expansion with the same Character. I would return to Martyr if campaign was continued but as it I have too long backlog on other games so...

https://neocoregames.com/en/community/hub/announcing-a-new-class-dlc-sororitas

Besides the new Inquisitorial Season coming later this year, we're happy to announce that an entire new playable class, an Inquisitor with an Adepta Sororitas background, is coming soon as a DLC.

Nice.

I was thinking it would be a little redundant with the crusader, as it would be the same type of normal human in power armour, but it seems they also get some faith powers

Players will be able to access various Acts of Faith to empower their characters and allies or smite enemies, as well as further customize their playstyle through the Sacred Rite passive skills. With strong enough Faith, the Sister of Battle will be able to transform into Embodied Saint form gain access to a wide array of unique abilities, feared across the entire Caligari Sector.

Though we'll have to see if it's just passive skill trees or hopefully some new skills

what games should i start with if i wanted to get into 40k
Space Marine and Mechanicus are excellent, DoW is a bit dated by now.
It's less dated if you get a widescreen mod

Nice.

So now we just lack Tau and Eldar!
:troll:

I'm pretty sure eldar (both standard and dark version) have been in the game for quite some time, ready to get purged
