It’s been 20 years get over it, imperials lost Damocles
What's Damocles ?
The big imperial counter attack that counts as an imperial victory somehow even though it did exactly what i described: iom rolls in and stomps over initial tau resistance (tau practice elastic defense doctrine so iom wasted time on lightly defended early warning garrisons) and then tau just outsmart the iom as the humans do silly things like sending waves of guardsmen unsupported straight into tau gunlines.

This is when iom lost titans to mantas because said titans were unsupported, where all space marines who werent ultras got wrecked including the raven guard and where kroot beat catachans at jungle warfare and get eaten.

But the iom was totally going to win! Even though they were described as being on the defensive with the biggest imperial battlefield wins coming from sm buying time for imperials to evacuate, wow such win.
Then the tyranids arrived so the imperial armada had to leave to fight on the other side of the galaxy, providing a nice cop out excuse.
Then the tau immediately ignored all signed promises and agreements like they always do and went back in and reclaimed all their lost turf whilst dealing with the stranded imperials left behind, before expanding once more, thus ending with more territory then they started the war with.

Later on, the ultramarines by themselves would reclaim some of the lost territory in the zeist campaign or whatever it was called, whether the ultras accomplishing more alone then the grand invading imperial armada is the ultras being plot armored or proof of how incompetent the imperial leadership was during damocles i’ll let others decide.

So the Imperial guard is useless, Tau are strong!!! but not that much and Ultramarines save the day but in the end nothing has changed.
Thank you Games Workshop, very original.

The Tau don't belong in the setting, full stop.

Are we really still doing this
Never stopped.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Tau are a great meme, but it's a failed experiment in drawing the anime mech lover crowd and everything about them clash with the setting.

At least they're interesting, unlike the Votann.
What IS the 40k setting but a kitchen sink of bullshit at the end of the day?

It's a kitchen sink for literally anything.

I mean that by they don't restrict authors.. Which allows Dan Abnett and others to just write in a totally different scenario, area of the galaxy, or even what year/time (because Eisenhorn, etc., happens centuries before M41).

Note that this side of 40k (Black Library novels) has very little to do with the writing for official codices and stuff. Kinda like separate departments, because I literally love the former and hate the crap out of the latter miniature-profit part.

IG are pretty crap outside of the Sabbat Worlds. And even then..
*laughs is Steel Legion and Krieg*
Krieg fucking nuked his whole planet, and all the Kriegs are produced with Krieg's genetics because the radiation is so much you can't procreate, with the few survivors of the planet.

You know how the Kriegs don't identify by name?

Take off their helmets and see how identical they look.

Besides, their main benefit is being pro-suicidal so they don't need any Imperial oversight lol.

Good luck trying to pry off their helmet, only thing they arent suicidal about and will murder anyone that tries to compromise their personal protective equipment. Its not radiation causing lack of procreation, its 'germs will kill me, cant let them near me'

I thought it was because they were horribly deformed due to radiation and poor cloning procedures? Either way, the end result is the same: They're fanatically loyal to the Imperium and awesome, as well as hated by the wokes

So I just found out that there is a Genestealer Cult in one of Necromunda's Hive Cities (hardly surprising, but bear with me). The Cult even multiplied into sufficient numbers to kickstart the psychic beacon, despite being quarantined in that one Hive only. The kicker? Upon receiving the psychic message, the Tyranid Hive Mind decided "that way lies cancer", and stayed clear from Necromunda. Such nice climate they have there

Necromunda is such an awesome setting it's so sad that the two video games we got on this planet were quite lacklustre.
Hired Gun has great atmosphere but it's a very basic Doom clone, should have been a Dishonored / Deus Ex game.
Guys at Streum On are talented but they needed more time and money i guess.

The other game, Underhive Wars is basicly a worse version of the Mordheim video game, Rogue Factor never fixed the obvious flaws of their previous game.

It's a bit more nuanced. Some dudes saw the whole Genestealer Cult business and decided "I can fix them", so they tried to cure those infected and, uh...

GW is both progressing a narrative but at the same time is extremely scared to progress so we live in this weird limbo of progression right now with modern 40k.
