It's amazing how changed the game looks : from graphics, to interface, finally a good map system. Great job InXile! Can't wait to go home to play.

Is it better optimized? My toaster had some trouble with the base game for no obvious reason as it looked like a muddy shit.

I will judge the quality of this release if the laser sights still go through platforms :)

The FAQ's mention of "smaller changes" makes me pray that they managed to find the time to implement the original Endgame. Especially as this is the last piece of Wasteland 2 related content to be released, the DC team is now moving onto Bards Tale 4.

Without spoiling anything, the original Endgame contained most, if not all the answers that were left loose in the game.

Can you finally move characters with left click?

You move with right click but when looting you must press left click

Made a new team. Few remarks: take snapshot doesnt work in my setup, the snapshot isnt aligned properly and features half face, half torso. Temporarily changing to giant or midget size doesnt help. Also custom portraits need to be copied to the new dc directory, this doesnt happen automagically.

I've taken the game for a spin. Made a combat-oriented assault riffle char, took 3 premade chars (brawler, medic and the thief) and cleared the first area:
-AR are still better than any other weapon type I've tried, good AP, great range, good damage. Pistols are still beyond useless, SMGs are very nice when they hit but still take too much AP IMO.
-Brawler char on the other hand was much more useful. Was able to deal high damage and soaked-up much damage, I remember him to be a waste of time the first time I took him in the base game
-Some quirks are just plainly useless, others are OP. For example, there is an opportuinst trait that gives you bonus damage against targets with less than 30% con and reduces your damage against targets with less than 30% con. Considering the fact that enemies stay above 30% of the con most of the time it's basically gimping you damage through the game.
-Graphics are indeed much, much nicer
-Trading interface is a worse than the base version, having to switch between yours and shop's item instead of displaying them on a single screen

How about heavy weapons? They should be much better..

How is it possible to fuck up the trading interface further?? It was already super shitty in vanilla. This doesn't bode well :(

ARs are supposed to have less ammo available. From what sea told me months ago they'd decided that with less ammo nerfing them was not necessary.

Because you can know weapon balance based on starting weapons.... and no access to all the perks...

Has Energy Weapons vs Armor Rating been changed? Towards the end of the original game, I stopped wearing any armor with an Armor Rating higher than 5 since it made all the Energy Weapon-wielding enemies I met deal 10x damage on my characters.

I guess you could scout ahead and check if the enemy is wielding Energy Weapons, and if not, switch out your Kevlar Vest for Power Armor. But I just found the entire system awkward.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
It did change. Energy weapons simply do more damage to "Conductive" armors now. Which of them actually ARE "Conductive", I have no idea. But no more thresholds and stuff

Less ammo over the old version? In my experience from vanilla Wasteland I never had issues with AR ammo - early on AR are slow and 5.56 ammo is plenty, unless maybe you make 3 or more chars with AR. I had more issues finding enough .38 ammo.

Yes, I'd wait until at least late Arizona or early California. I found early ARs underwhelming in vanilla. Only when I finally found one with auto-fire they became really good.
Pistols were ok-ish as a low-ap backup weapon for my snipers.

Yeah, I just found it in the manual.

Has the armor system changed?
We've changed the light/heavy armor distinction so that now heavy armor is Conductive, and certain enemies you find will also be marked as Conductive. Energy Weapons now do bonus damage to Conductive targets, and less damage to normal targets, instead of scaling off of the enemy's armor value.

Making it binary instead of checking thresholds is an improvement.
But I would still prefer if Energy Weapons had a different effect than magical bonus damage against high-end armor - such as armor penetration, multiple enemies in the line of fire taking damage, splash damage, blinding the enemies etc.

These are my first impressions, not the review. Chill out.

In Vanilla you had your equipment on the left side and trader's goods on the right. Now you can only view one inventory at the same time and have to switch between them using sell and buy buttons. For me it's a straight downgrade.

I hope they know what they are talking about because I remember swimming in all kids of ammo and tons of cash pretty soon in vanilla.

Disparnumerophobia is so fucking broken. It's like gifted on steroids - a total WTF. Though Thick Skin and Brittle Bones are also great, but phobia probably rules them all.

Brittle Bones penalty hits very, very hard. Mobility is pretty important in combat to flank enemies. So it is quite balanced.

I wonder if Disparnumerophobia disadvantage can be eliminated completely by radioing in every two levels :smug:

For anyone else on GOG, they were on the ball with simultaneous release.

Hmm. I don't appear to have it in my GOG library yet. It is offering to sell me the "Director's Cut Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade" for a cheeky AU$23.99.

Just tell me... Have they finally fucking fixed the NPC portraits?

"You encounter a black tired war-torn old man"

Then you look at the portrait, and it's a white dude with red hair and freckles... wtf...

Or vice versa
