Have you ever managed to recruit Gary Wolfe? Went with Militia last time, he didn't spawn. Went with Militia this time around too, again no spawn. Charisma always well over 25.

Or is he spawning somewhere secret? Can't find the dumbass. I know he's bad but I just wanted to see him for OCD reasons.

There are reports that he's bugged right now and never spawns.

How many more months should I wait before this game is fixed and playable? I heard bugs from the original release of the game are even still around.

Did they add one to every map though, or just to ranger citadel (or even just one direction of RC)? I wondered about it when watching the new cinematics.
Oh, I'd be surprised if they already put them in for every map - why would they have? - but it's quite clear that they could, at negligible performance cost. At this point I see no good reason to lock the camera like this.

Its irritating that you can't see what's in front of you unless way zoomed out. POE mix of 2d backgrounds and 3d chars much better. I would have prefered a fallout style fixed camera 2d game over this.
The thing is, full 3D camera control in a game of this format was being done with no problems at least as far back as eight years ago.

I wonder if anyone knows how to mod camera tilt?
I haven't heard of anything. Let me know if you hear of such a mod.

Unknown, but more than zero.

camera angles a bitch, but enemies are never out of weapon range, its an annoyance but at least it doesnt significantly affect gameplay.

its still not the game i hoped it would be, but at least the DC seems playable to me, and i might be able to tolerate 30hrs of it. I quit the first after the ag center, the slog just didnt feel worth it.

i dont usually powergame but this might be onr that calls for it to alleviate the tedium. because the good bits are....good. but like shadowrun is only great if you have a giant vagina for cyberpunk...wl2 is only worthwhile if youre a buttslut for post apoc.

whereas appeal of games like fallout, system shock, et al generate appeal that goes beyond genre fans.

DC is really pretty compared to WL2 vanilla, I must admit that. I just wish they added more content and fixed more stuff. I am still having fun with it, perks added nice character planning layer that was just not there in the past.
Now I am combining my melee character with other skills that have perks that work well with melee or deciding who I want to have as weaponcrafting person so I can take that sweet perk that gives +1 AP if you are in light armor.

How so? The Fallout brand hit the big time with Fallout 3. Is there anything to suggest it had appeal beyond its niche before then?

Seems like getting every half-intelligent ranger 2 points in Weapon Maintenance to get the Tinkerer perk is a p good idea.

Only if you plan to use light armors. But yes, that perk is probably best low level perk in the game.

That last thing will always be the case. There has never been a RPG that fixed literally all the bugs.

It took them five months last time. They might not devote that much time to it this time around, but I'd recommend at least until they go on break for the holidays in December.

I took a quick look at the DC to see what had changed. Didn't look like much. Graphics are noticeably better but the UI is still horrific.

I can easily understand bugs being there in games with a lot of content but I really don't get how you can miss the fact that NPCs are disappearing when the player dismisses them. Like did anyone play the game before they released it? I've been waiting like crazy for that and now I'm not even sure if I should start... :/

So is the missing companions bug fixed yet? I don't want to start playing until this is gone :?
Didn't see any patch appearing recently so probably no... Also it happens in consoles too so I'm guessing they SHOULD BE fast...

That's why you need quality managers even if they are the most annoying assholes 90% of the time

There's always a chance it could be an unintended side effect of optimization as well. Fun fact: Optimizing code really just means removing parts the player won't notice to speed things up. And because of this it usually breaks the shit out of things at first.

On the contrary, the tendency on consoles is for fewer and bigger patches. In the past, patching console games actually cost money for the developer, though I don't know if that's still the situation today.

I know they released a hotfix to the camera and I got that, but am I the only one who still doesn't like the camera angle? I can't see what is front of me since the angle of the view is pointed down at the ground. Only way to get a sense of direction is zoomed way out. Maybe I'll get used to it....

the more you zoom out, the more the camera changes to a top down perspective which sucks. moreover, this issue doesn't even put in a favorible light the game 3D assets.
that was underlined since the first release but it all fell on deaf years.

currently I play Asge of Decadence and the possibility to pan the camera freely is liberating!

Look. I'm a senior software engineer. Not a game developer but still, I know that no serious programmer would optimize code before a major release without enough time to regression test everything. Or at least someone WOULD STOP HIM.
I get what you're saying but I guess that's the price we pay as PC game customers since we're not multimillion companies that will cut off funding if some shit like that goes wrong...

That's true, I'm just saying that HOPEFULLY it's on super high priority currently... Also I do hope we dont get the PC patch along with the console ones....

Yeah, it's amazing how much more polished and professional AoD feels compared to WL2.

The traditional opinion of oldschool RPGers on forums like this one is that they don't want to fiddle with camera controls.

The shift to top-down perspective on zoom-out is for those who want to play in "Wasteland 1 mode". It's a bit silly, but hey.
