I hate the CLASSIC system. It's impossible to make a decent character with flavorful 'realistic' stats, everyone is a min-max of dump stats and perfect tresholds to stay in the AP sweet spot for their weapon choice and get the most combat initiative and skill points. It's really stupid how your attributes don't affect skill behavior in any way apart from CHA+Lead. Also every character needs to be combat capable (or at least 3 out of 4) so you need one dedicated weapon skill out of your limited skill pool, making cool builds even harder. Game would greatly benefit from having separate skill point pools for combat/utility since thematically everyone is supposed to be combat trained anyway.

Really sad it seems nothing has changed about the core system structure in the DC, tells you all you need to know that they think this is good.

No, but I am finding myself stalled whenever a new bug turns up :(

I'm delighted to see you aren't a minmaxing fuckface, but those Intelligence scores make me sad. 1, 4, 8, 10 are the only scores that mean anything; it's just points down the toilet otherwise.

True. Actually after checking 2 and 6 also give bonuses. I also know why I blundered. The system counts all bonuses from assigned attributes points no matter how many of them are assigned, it's easy then to assign 2 points with one of them blank and see there a bonus. Quite careless of me :)

2 and 6 int don't give fixed bonusss, they just contribute to the AP formula: AP = CO/2 + (STR + SPE + INT) /4

So instead of going from 4 to 6 int to get an AP, you can just add 2 SPE or 2 STR and get more bonuses out of it.

Agree with everything except this. Don't take away my ability to make a character who focuses on combat or noncombat. Strongly agree that stats should be fluid, there's no reason for everything to be rounded off to the nearest threshold. We have computers now, they can do fractions.

Yeah, non-threshold Intelligence doesn't provide zero benefit, BUT it provides absolutely nothing that other stats can't do better.

People can say oh, I hate Luck, or Charisma isn't that good or whatever, but these stats do provide unique, measurable benefits that you can't get otherwise. Non-threshold INT is an unequivocal downgrade.

Well this would just be the simplest for them to implement.

Vex for cool for a while as a person that murders stuff (but made comabat too easy) but now he too often keeps murdering my guys with this burst fire shots. How the fuck do I get rid of him?! It is Marcus with heavy weapons all over again!

Stopped playing now because of the disappearing recruits bug. Strange that this wasn't hotfixed already.

Force attack him? One grenade should be plenty. Or send him in alone against a party of enemies. He's only got ~50 HP.

I'm really enjoying the game, so far. The Canyon of Titan, in particular, was tough on my decision making process. I started to lean toward the faction that seemed most familiar to me, then saw what they were doing to travelers and decided that the original owners of the Canyon were at least more honest. An hour later, I decided to flip again, for reasons that don't need spoiling. Now, in the aftermath of a quest given by the winner of that little contest, I think I'm going to kill them all, and let the Canyon police itself.

I got lucky enough that the robot bit the dust in a fight against red skorpions. I guess you can always force attack him (ctrl) or blow him up with your splosives.

It seems the game has some memory leak. After few hours it seems it started using my HDD too much and slowed down to a crawl on any alt tab or load screen. I even took 2 minutes to exit from the game. After I restarted it, it worked good again.

The recruits' voice overs are occasionally disabled on reload, and only a full game restart fixes it. Noticed it when taking Scotchmo out of the hobo camp to start his quest - the first time around, it was all voiced, and after a reload, it wasn't. Not the worst thing in the world considering the general VO quality, but yet another annoying bug.

Wasteland 2
I told my wife Monday night that I was excited that Wasteland 2, that Kickstarter game that I spent $100 a few years ago, was finally getting updated and I was going to be able to get around to playing the whole thing. My wife, who doesn't play video games, said, "Yeah, after they take two weeks to patch it."

Either I have talked about Wasteland 2 way too much around her, or she is secretly lurking the Codex.

One more week and it should be playable....right, guys,?

I know they released a hotfix to the camera and I got that, but am I the only one who still doesn't like the camera angle? I can't see what is front of me since the angle of the view is pointed down at the ground. Only way to get a sense of direction is zoomed way out. Maybe I'll get used to it....

Change "occasionally" to "reliably" now. Whenever I reload a save game, Scotchmo's voice over is permanently disabled. Presumably it's the same with everybody else, but he's the only one I can easily test. Only workaround is to fully restart the game before every reload.

Someone else got the impression random encounter chance is much higher now?
I can sometimes barely move for 10s on the world map before encountering some raiders. Last trek from Highpool to Citadel had 5 or 6 random encounters.

I think it fixes itself after a while, There was no sound when I loaded the game, Ralphy had "Its shiny" dialogue or something close to it in the Ranger Citadel, The text kept floating but after the sound and voices came, he said his line and the text disappeared.

I was hoping for a better one but the camera indeed still suck IMHO.
If only it was a fix camera like on PoE...

The character system is "very" good, at least much better than anything we are used too for a a cRPG with a party.
Luck and charisma suck and the intelligence thing is no good either (still 4 important threshold that really matter 2/4/8/10 so that's ok)...but still largely enough possible interesting build to make because whatever what you want to do, there will be at least 4 stats that would really be important.
And 4 important stats is a lot IMHO (Wizardry 8 known for his very interesting character development has 3 or 4 maximum important stats depending your class, the other stats being almost useless in comparison).

Yeah. Why lock the tilt controls? I hate it. But I got used to it eventually.

What really grinds my gears though? They actually added a skybox but now they won't let us look at it. The previous excuse about no horizon so we can't let you tilt the camera has been soundly debunked by their own cinematic hubris.

I found why you can only hear NPCs talk from one speaker. It seems this game has an extreme L/R balance settings. If person you talk to is right of your screen they will only come from right speaker but if you center the camera during the conversation it will then come from both speakers. Conversations with many NPCs center the camera first so it sounds OK than but for some that does not happen.

I never played a game with such extreme stereo effects. I would still consider it a bug although now I know a workaround.

Did they add one to every map though, or just to ranger citadel (or even just one direction of RC)? I wondered about it when watching the new cinematics.

Also didn't get what everyone was talking about with the mono/stereo VO. Then I found out my headphones where switched to mono since I watched a youtube video with only one channel a few weeks ago. :negative:

Its irritating that you can't see what's in front of you unless way zoomed out. POE mix of 2d backgrounds and 3d chars much better. I would have prefered a fallout style fixed camera 2d game over this.

I wonder if anyone knows how to mod camera tilt?
