This ain't exactly the usual 3rd party middleware, everything from the asset store is tied into the editor they'd have to release. You can't remove it because things in the game depend on it being there. If you buy a tool from the asset store it gets integrated into the game's source code which is what causes the problem.

Oh my, this is an interesting interview. All the writers vanished!

It starts at around 5:30.

In addition to the cut La Brea Tar Pits area which we knew about, they also had to cut Matthias' underground HQ in California.

They have plans to bring back La Brea in a future game.

Some specific characters that Nathan Long wrote: Vargas, Angela Deth, everybody in the Ag Center, everybody in Ranger Center

Nathan says the first area he wrote for was Titan Canyon, and he ended up writing way too much. For subsequent areas, he learned to be more concise.

"There's probably going to be another Wasteland game"

Long's favorite quest: Hollywood's questline, even though they didn't have time to iterate on it.

Yeah, I had a feeling they'd cut some good stuff about Matthias' underground HQ.

All that stuff about the crazed Dr. Goochman doctor n shit, operating on people.. would have liked to experience that. Eh, too bad.

Define "broken".
The vanishing NPC issues have been fixed for some time now, if you mean those.
It's still possible to trivialize much of the early-mid game combat if you know what to do, though.

Someone must convince them to do a "Wasteland Tactics" kind of game. I'd pay double price for that.
Imagine playing the role of Vargas and commanding the different Ranger Squads in the Wasteland and playing the battles in glorious turn-based tactical combat.
A JA2 in a Wasteland setting. Damn I'm aroused by just thinking about it.

Wasn't wasteland 2 exactly that already?

No not exactly. It was essentialy a group RPG, you only controlled a squad through a story line.
Im saying to go to a more strategic approach where you control all the Squads in the world map, send them to missions/distress calls etc, handle their compositions and Equipment and so on.
A Fallout Tactics meets Wasteland 2 which meets Jagged Alliance 2 and X-COM if you prefer

Yeah, I've mentioned this before. Would feel very natural to have some kind of dispatch interface like the JA2 world map, and have events and crises unfold based on game clock instead of triggering based on character actions. Have distress calls all over the place, you have to manage resources and get teams there in time. I wanted to send two Rangers each to Highpool and Ag Center.

Yup exactly. To be honest the more I think about it, it feels so obviously awesome that I wonder why noone has started doing it already.

Wellllll, the scope of something like that would explode ... like if you wanted W2-level reactivity but multiply it for all locations in the game, seems like it would be a pretty colossal undertaking. Personally I would settle for something shallower and broader, but where exactly do you set the needle? Ask 10 different people and you'll get 10 different answers. Risky question.

And actually people have tried, you look at something like JA Back in Action, they spent the budget, but missed the point and got panned. Flashback also tried and also failed. JA2 was the magical 1 in 1000 project that did it well, and even it wasn't perfect. I'll continue to back Kickstarters that make the attempt, and I'd back the fuck out of one if inXile wanted to try for it, but ... I'd be betting the double zero and I know it.

I remember there was floating back here a list with all locations and who had designed them. Does anybody has it? I am curious.

The credits list the following

Highpool & Ag Center Design
Chris Avellone

Angel Oracle Design
Colin McComb

Rodia Design
Patrick McLean

In addition to that Avellone designed Seal Beach and the return to the Ranger Citadel, Jeremy Kopman designed Titan Canyon, and according to sea Joey Betz also worked on Rodia. With the other designers, it's a big question mark, at least as far as namesearches on the Codex go.

New squad roams the Wasteland! This time without blank points in intelligence! I am already missing my old mates.
