Ok,

So far I think Wasteland 2 is better than Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. Having extra characters really improves the combat system.

Ok,

Restarted to adjust my team, make them a bit better. I also higher the Hobo, Ralphy, and the ranger chick and did some easy stuff in Rail Nomad. Since I didn't do AG Center first last time I did it after Radio Tower and some of Rail Nomad.

How the fuck would a new player do AG Center if they choose there first?

What do you mean? You just go there and follow the quest instructions...?

First time I played the game I went there, since I always felt it made more sense.

Its extremely easy to head south rightafter leaving the Citadel, get the radio calls, and then choose Ag Center. You are are especially fucked at the higher difficulty levels.

Make sure you're well-supplied with ammo before leaving.

And if you do this you'll have a much more pleasant experience. I actually arrived at the AG Center at level 3/4. Granted this was my third restart and I wanted to see what AG had compared to Highpool.

What? Why? Like I said, I headed pretty much straight to Ag Center when I first played, and I don't remember being _especially fucked_. Do you think it's notably harder than anything else?
Also AG Centre simple more interesting and rewarding.
Yeah, when I went to the town I was very disappointed, really. First time I played I thought it was because I didn't go there first, so it was basically just a shitshow, which made sense, I guess, but the Ag Center is a better, more fleshed-out and interesting location regardless of where you choose to go first.

A player who doesn't buy ammo who relies heavily on guns can be in a world of hurt if they go to the Ag Center first. The enemies don't drop ammo, so you're at the mercy of random drops* for resupplies to keep you from backtracking and getting the bad outcome.

*I understand that the DC put in more hand-placed loot so I suppose they could have scattered a bunch of bullets in containers there, I wouldn't know

I guess that could cause a problem, yeah, whereas in Highpool, you can pick shit up if you run out of bullets. I didn't consider it from that angle.

What other games have a combat system like Wasteland 2?

Or, I should say:

What games did Wasteland 2 borrow from for its combat system?

Xcom is an obvious one.

Who, me? I don't have a backstage pass; your guess is as good as mine. I don't remember any specific games being mentioned during development. There was a lot of pressure to be "the real Fallout 3" and of course they didn't even try phase-based combat as in Wasteland. Obviously you see the new XCOM games. I'm reminded a bit of the Jagged Alliance series. Why do you ask?

I enjoy Wasteland 2's combat and it's also similar to Mario vs Rabbids which is apparently all like XCom.

easy choice which to pick.

Some RPG designers have had a pigtail fetish since the days of BG and apparently they can't see beyond that.

Combat is much better in Wasteland 2 than fallout 1 and 2 there are many more weapons, tactical options and ways to kill stuff; even AR being criticized was bs for me this is what small units do use as basic infantry weapons since WWII with only one man needing to be heavy weapon/sniper/medic using pistol support specialist. On the other hand quests and dialogues even graphics looks far worse than original fallouts thanks to this trash 3D unity engine. Still its the only Kick starter game I don't regret to back and finished multiple times.

Eh, the combat system most certainly is better than Fallout 1+2. Atleast the Directors Cut.

Yeah I got a lot of negative ratings but I was referring to the combat system (which is over half of the game).

I'm assuming I got most of those for saying Wasteland 2 was better than Fallout 1/2, period. The story is pretty... meh. Wasteland 2 story feels like a fan fiction variant of Fallout 1.

If Wasteland 2 had a bad combat system it'd be a trash game to be quite honest. Graphics certainly are quite shit compared to Fallout 1/2. Music and sound effects are decent. Dialog is acceptable. Voice acting isn't too bad.

Fallout combat was considered trash already when it came out. That's hardly a standard of excellence that that WL2 should be compared against.

Nonetheless it feel extremely satisfying even now, when W2 lack that feeling.
The lost technology of the precursors I guess.
