This shit is in the bag!

I am so jealous of your Team Echo.. I can see them bringing great change to the wasteland.

Do Ben and Anne get along?

but then they discovered it wouldn't cost anything to just unlock the x-axis and let the user spin it to taste.
Well it's more than that. Like Reject said, with 3d camera you also need good assets and levels for it to work.
Right ... but they were using all fully rendered 3D assets anyway. With 2D art the buildings don't have backs, because why draw the backs? But since they were using 3D assets from the Unity store, everything was viewable from every angle before it was even placed, so they figured, what the hell, why lock this camera.

As for level design, I can't comment on that except to say that it seems cool to me. I haven't tried to navigate without moving the camera, nor would I care to. I do know that originally they were designing for fixed camera, but I imagine that went out the window pretty quick when they unlocked it.

I initially did try to play it like Fallout.. then I realized they were hiding chests behind the walls. from the angle you enter levels or buildings.. so if you never move your camera.. you will miss a lot of items and even cave entrances.

Yea, that's the culprit.

I doubt this was in wasteland 1, haven't played it so I might be wrong, but why make in w2 what basicaly arcade games do?

The camera does kinda sucks. Basically I am playing this like first person shooter, with my left hand constantly on WSADQE which constantly adjusts the camera. It's like game within a game!

I wasn't complaining about the 3D camera view.. but the frame rate does take a shit because of the assets all being 3D Models.. unity might be based on Mono which does use the GPL of video cards.. but it's data storage / management pipes are still shit.. It's a Managed Language trying to be a compiled binary..

I really hope using Obsidians engine with flat planes and walkmesh painting will mean that the only costs will come from non-static assets with animations. Meaning the game won't take 10 years to load the interior of a house.

I'm starting over. Spread skills a little too thin I think and also missed an opportunity to profit from cow shit.

Some questions. Does Rose stick with you for good or something? I thought she would return to Ag after leaving but nope.

Also there's a bug at Ag center: Even after finishing it, Kate or whatshername will still tell you to hurry inside if you use the intercom outside.

It's a "Strategic Alliance"

Ben use all of his money to buy a bunker(that's why he is alive) and Anne is the last survivor clone of the holocaust museum(To spread white guilt and a reminder that 6 million jews died because of aryan monsters such as yourself).

Ben lost all of his money and followers... he has no power in the new world order and Anne its just a clone of someone that died in WW2, she is no longer jewish.

If you pay attention to her dialogue, she actually gives a well-written little spiel about how she likes working with you and wants to help out with your mission.

The battle after releasing the dude's pigs from the farm is really cool. Got my sniper onto a rooftop, melee fighters waiting at the corners of buildings to ambush people and my two assault rifle people in positions that allowed them to cover the entire farm. First time combat actually felt tactical rather than just frantic.

Hey guys I have a question. I backed Torment high enough to get myself a copy of Wasteland 2. Can I redeem it now or will I have to wait until Torment's finished? (which is gonna take a while).

Are enemies meant to respawn or is that a bug? Loading a save seems to respawn all enemies (even ones that were defeated seconds before the save was made) and fog-of-war the entire map, which is annoying to say the least.

By the way, on a scale of 0 to Obsidian, how do you people rate bugginess of the game right now? I want to try it out, but thinking of waiting until some patches are in.

being a unity game, you can play in borderless fullscreen windowed mode by launching the game, setting the resolution to your desktop resolution, disabling fullscreen and exiting. then in properties -> set launch options (this is for steam), add "-popupwindow" minus the ".

If you're using the gog version, make a shortcut to the .exe (or view the properties of an existing shortcut) and add -popupwindow after Target: "..\WL2.exe" so that it looks like
Code:
"G:\games\Wasteland 2\Build\WL2.exe" -popupwindow
for example

You could "herd" the pigs from an alternative road behind without anyone noticing.
Not fun as slaughting them all though :)

I didn't find any bugs in about 5 hours of play yesterday. Load times are kind of slow, that's about it.

Still, if you're not itching, I would wait as I imagine there will be some QOL patches, more optimization, etc.

I keep seeing a remake of the Wasteland 1 cover when a new area is loading. Do anyone know where I can find that picture? It would make a really great wallpaper!

Novella completed.

It's HHR-bait. It's an anti-televangelist/organized religion story written by a smug atheist (was completely unsurprised by the author's picture in the back), which is odd considering how televangelists rose and fell in the 80s and the one in this story made it big until the mid-late 90s somehow. It's an aspect that isn't relevant today, so this story ends up feeling like something that would have been written/published in the 80s/early 90s.

Lesi would hate it too considering its depiction of women, one Asian woman in particular (why is this gross person the only one whose non-whiteness is explicitly defined..?) , and its particularly absurd handling of mental illness (though tbh every person in this book is awful). It's also obviously written from a (fauxgressive) white heterosexual male perspective.

The climax/ending is ham-handed and keeps stretching credibility again and again and again. He had a particular ending in mind and damn anything that would stop it from happening.

I can't believe inXile is charging $10 for this. I wouldn't pay anything for it, even though technically I already did.

Finally got around to reading All Bad Things myself (better late than never). Depressing as fuck, really leaves you with a sinking feeling. I kinda liked it. :M An interesting little tale that doesn't waste any time getting to the point.

I was hoping somebody would remain alive for me to meet in the game though. :?

The Stackpole/Long story is much longer so we'll see when I get to that.
