Pretty much done with Arizona. While it's nice that there are only two mandatory fights in Damonta, the combat density is way too high. Even with 9s in all my weapon skills it was noticeably more demanding, though not enough to make me use health packs (I now have over 80; still haven't put any points into field medic, though of course it'd be somewhat different without those free refills).

Overall, Arizona was all right. Worse level design than Fallout Tactics, about the same when it comes to attrition-based-difficulty, but better in nearly every other category. The takeaway here is that it pays to go in with extraordinarily low expectations instead of expecting an instant classic on the first try (though tbh I don't consider this to be all that worse than those 90s RPGs).

Maybe, but in the US, everything is in the wake of a mass shooting at a school.

I think the shooting was n the UK because only the UK version had no children.
:)

Good. That was the intro. Now the game starts to flourish

Besides the overabundance of ammo that I heard it was addressed, I hope they fixed the super convenient distribution of oasis in the wasteland and the rate the water was consumed.
It was amusing how each time when my party was nearly low on water an oasis popped up from the ground like clockwork.

So much could have been done with the water mechanic...
Like seeing on the map the range you could travel with the current water supply and plot a route from town to town or oasis to survive and not taking the shortest route every time. Upgradable backpacks that allows you to carry more water etc.
Besides radiation zones that seems a little far-fetched, you could have been limited by the water you can carry not being able to access parts of the map. Some thoughts for Wasteland 3! :)

Hang on, I need clarification on something: Australia's Rating System lists the DC as "modified". In our country, this usually means that the developer has had to basically censor the game to meet the classification board's standards.

Is this correct or did the rating board just give it the original version's rating.

devs on their forums said that explosives are going to work in DC just like in vanilla :(
Still linked to no skills and having 100% to hit.

I don't see what the big deal was about enemies being a pain to fight until upgrading weapons in LA. Of course as soon I opened up the LA map I went up to 8 points into outdoorsman so I wouldn't have to deal with random encounters. Additionally I have (or had since I already upgraded) two people with high-AP burst fire assault rifles, one good sniper rifle, and the bestest bursting energy weapon ever from the toaster. Three of those were able to one-shot or nearly-one-shot those cow-stealers with good damage rolls.

I imagine the complaints come from having a less optimal weapon loadout and/or playing above seasoned.

The synth pad is similar yeah. Look, everyone copies everyone in music, especially electronic music. I don't see what the big deal is.

So now that I've pretty much completed Rodia I can see why LA got a much better reception from the Fallout-ers. A spiritual successor to the conflict in the Boneyard, only better-executed (I'm sure there's some grog out there who will insist that being able to endure the reload-fest that is systematically stealing from all those hostiles and/or plying them with beer to lower their accuracy before the battle starts is better than the hand-scripted stuff here, but they would be mistaking an ideal for the flawed reality), and it's a social hub where you can play for a long while without combat. Plus even as a completionist, I only had to face two battles (the thing in the tunnel, and the fight against the four guys and their lackeys).

Looks like the next major hub is McComb's. Time to see what progress he's made since Fallout 2 and Torment.

I'm in the Canyon of Titan. If I swear to help the monk at Outpost 1 acquire nuclear waste for his holy hand grenades, will I be railroaded into supporting his faction? Based on what I've learned so far I'd like to support the militia, but they start attacking me due to my monk escort. Seems like the only other option is to kill all the monks at Outpost 1, but that doesn't seem very ranger-like.

I didn't do this, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't, no.

They're both terrible groups and you don't have to side with either.

I enter a raider camp and start looting their chest in the center area. An alarm bell goes off, and a group of 5 raiders sprint down to where I am. I'm sure the guy's statement was sincere...

Hopefully the alarm skill will be worth investing in after the Director's Cut.

Alarm disarm will never be worth it compared to other skills since the only places where it would be of consequence would be robbing things from social hubs, of which there are few.

Weeeell... a lot of stuff changed after I made my turnover. Not necessarily indicative.
(but really, the answer is: no progress. Possible backsliding.)
