I'm playing Ghost Recon Wildlands. Squad-based shit is not really my thing, not having played one in this tactical subgenre since the first Rainbow Six PC games, which were hard as balls. This seems very simplified and dumbed-down compared to those early games but I think that's just what I need to get back into it. It's just okay... I like going in there with my squad mates and murdering cartel goons in the turd world. It combines open world (massive), GTA-style driving/hijacking, and Metal Gear Solid mechanics into a fun soup but I expect I will grow bored (or get overwhelmed by difficult gameplay though it seems easy so far) eventually and won't complete it

Your time will be far better served playing Metal Gear V

Been there, done that. Time for new sensations.

Edited: sometimes it's the scenario and not the genre that influences my decision to play a new game. I wanna kill cartel cunts... kill, kill, kill! So I got GRW.

At one time Ghost Recon was my very favouritest game and I could not get enough of it.
I'm almost afraid to try it again after all those years...

It's kind of popamole these days compared to the early Tom Clancy games, of course, but I like all the toys, ie the drones. Was actually surprised that when I sent one in to scout out a camp, I got too close and was flying around the heads of a group of camp guards like an angry gnat and they shot it out of the sky and went on alert. I expected the AI to be dumb as dildoes and not even notice it buzzing around their heads. Sometimes you have to make your own fun in these things. I liked the Splinter Cell games so kind of wanted a squad-based variation on that.

So, I was fighting some Berserkers somewhere between Hive's Vain and Shek Kingdom territory, and after fight I have see the shout nearby.
Turned out lost worker drone, who was eaten alive by skin spiders. So, I fought with them, and after that I found the guy. He had no arm, so I patched him up, Ruka picked him up, and I went to that village. On the way there I got attacked by ugly goose things, but nothing spectacular that bed for a day coudn't solve. There I bought bed for a lost drone, bought best mechanical arm I could buy, give him a bit of food. When he woke up, he stand and went somewhere. That's all I could do for him...
The last thing I saw was that lost drone tiny figure, being dissolved in the dark and acid rain...

Playing Shadowrun Hong Kong for the first time. The matrix sequences are a kick in the balls though. I just roll through combat, but the NPC decker isn't exactly great at their job and it takes me way too many tries.

I would necro a thread and bitch about it there but it has all been said when it comes to this point apparently

I always think I like Morrowind, want to play it, install it. Then I get bored after like 5-10 hours. Every single time. I think I'd need to go into a truly deep LARP mindset to really love it.

daggerfall yeah, arena not so much, lol.

I don't see your logic, though. daggerfall is better for LARPing therefore larping isn't required for morrowind?

Playing Dead Island Definitive Edition. I've tried to get into this game several times before and quit fairly early every time. This is my first time playing the definitive edition though, and the engine upgrade makes a signficant difference. I'm actually enjoying it so far. It's not great, but it's a decent time-waster.

I just bought Mass Effect Andromeda since it's on sale and at around the price whereby even if I only get a few hours of mediocre entertainment I feel I'll have just about got my money's worth. Same thing happened for DA2 and Inquisition at about the same price and I ended up enjoying both of them to a reasonable extent (although I'd never play either again). Lets see how this goes...

I've just sat through the intro and am beginning to think I made a terrible mistake.

Playing dishonored on hardest difficult. Magic is OP, you can breeze the game with it, which is a solid downside (especially stop magic). I didnt see a point in not killing enemies since we have a nice crossbow and a gun (grenades and other stuff too).

The level design is top notch with verticality done well. And the steampunk setting is engrossing.

Still a very solid game.

Today, I played Biomutant after not playing much for the last few weeks. I'm just mopping up the map before going for the main story. To mix things up slightly, I've been changing weapon types, but most of the time, I stick to a rifle and some sort of two-handed weapon. I wish there were more magic, or more ways to transmute your spells. That would have been great.

In Digital Devil Saga 2, I am fighting the angels. Managed to defeat Uriel on my first go. It got a bit sweaty, though. Party was at level ~45. I had to revive some of my characters a few times, but mind charge plus bufudyne made short work of him in the end. 16 hours in, having a blast.

Other than that, I must probably have played more than thirty demos in June.

I heard the game is best enjoyed as a stealth experience but I see your point: why have awesome weapons and animations if it's main design is as a stealth game a la Thief? Solution: play both styles. That said, I'm ashamed of myself for not having played any of the games in the series but I have them in my queue so will someday pig out on them.

Still playing GR: Wildlands and, man, is it immersion breaking at times. Sometimes a map will be swarming with high-level enemies then when you accomplish your objective stealthily, not dispatching any of those enemies, you get a cut scene and all of the enemies magically disappear instead of having to sneak/fight your way out. I played MGSV with a mod or two that made enemies almost one-shot you and increased detection distance and that game was 1000X more immersive but GRW is just barely compelling enough so that I keep playing though the gun-porn aspects seem wasted since my early-obtained modified AK47 with a sniper scope seems able to deal ridiculous amounts of damage (I can take down a helicopter with just a few bursts (!)... at least the Far Cry 1-4 series required you to use an RPG to do that... won't comment about Far Cry 5 since I tried FC5 and it was so bad it drove me right into the arms of GRW). It's practically a faceroll at this point.

Returned to Caverns of Xaskazien 2, a roguelike.
I am usually quite terrible at those, but i actually managed to score a victory as an Alluman worshipping Dogman Tomb Rider.

I failed to notice when or why but at a certain point my intelligence and dexterity stats were swapped. I couldn't use any decent ranged weapon despite my expertise in archery and i just couldn't fight anything starting from the twentieth dungeon level. I was relying on stealth skill, wallpass spell and my dogmen nose perk to avoid all enemies while frantically searching for trinkets in order to sell them to smugglers in exhange for gems which can be exchanged at the temples for exp.
Two times i was very close to dying and both of those times i was saved by the Alluman's blessing that gives you a 50% chance to ressurect at the temple with half hp.
I was wondering how the hell i am going to dispatch the final boss until i found a nice double spear trap kit with 6 charges. These and one other trap did the trick.

Was intrigued by the game for a while. Finally decided to try a "demo" of the game last weekend. Fucking loved it. I wished for a sale soon, and fortune smiled upon me not a week later. The Lord delivers. Survivalcraft games have been my shit lately, and this is one of the slickest. The rate of craft progression is just right, resources are fairly easy to obtain and you don't need tedious amounts to build shit. Highly immersive world, the contrast between the waterworld and the dry safety of your lifepod is palpable and convincing. Beautiful and elegant designs of flora and fauna, color palette. Tech design's are cool and tasteful and it's gratifying to get that next vehicle or diving gear that lets you explore further out and deeper down. Shades of Metroid Prime with all the scanning of technology and creatures you do, the visual design of the alien world and lifeforms, equipment progression-based exploration.

Path of Exile

A monkey button pusher Diablo2 wannabe. You know what it is. Playing co-op with a friend. Running a Duelist, focusing on evasion, dual wielding, attack speed. Frost Blades main crowd attack, with Double Strike to burn down beefy single enemies. Hadn't played the game since it had 3 acts. They added a whole bunch of shit since then, it's kind of overwhelming.

Fallout New Vegas - My first and probably only playthough. Fairly bland and boring in my opinion. It has it charms but it doesn't hold a candle to Fallout 1 / 2. Heck I even enjoyed Tactics better. At this point I just want to complete it just so I can say I did.

Finished Yakuza 4 remasered, quite an improvement compared to 3.There are 4 playable characters in this one, including Kiryu, each one with his own unique fighting style. They are interesting new characters especially Akiyama and Tanimura,Saejima as a character and fighting style is probably the weakest. The story is mostly good although it gets a bit overcomplicated for its own good and just trying to have a final boss for each of the 4 feels forced.Graphics are a bit better than 3 but not some great improvement.A good but not great entry in the series.Recommended

Wrapping up the Metro Exodus DLC so I can finally close the book on the game for good, It's weird man. I played every Dishonored before I touched Thief, and upon returning to the former after beholding the latter I had only an improved opinion. It feels like the opposite is true now that I've beaten all 3 STALKER games and gone back to Metro for a replay.

Anyways, with the Steam Summer Sale on I've decided I want to try something new, and I want some opinions. I'm a stupid gaijin and I wanna get more into JRPGs, and I'm looking for some good entry-games to existing monolith-franchises. Yakuza 0 I already own, Final Fantasy IX is currently in my shopping cart, The Legend of Mana remaster looks neat, the cultural osmosis of Nier Automata is inescapable and everyone seems to like Persona 4 and SMT III. Oh yeah, and Dragon's Dogma.
