Shar-Teel is a solid choice. Either go dual wielding long swords (I prefer long sword and dagger) or sword and board to jack up her AC even more.
I need a thief though. I guess I could drop dorn and use Duel Class sharteel or Tiax. How good is Shar-teel at shooting? I used to use Imoen, but I'm trying to give her mage levels to cover Edwins weaknesses (that is to say, Divination school). Which is going to take a while because I started her off at level 6.
Apparently Safana is a good Thief/Mage too.

She can arguably be the best thief in the game. Get her early so you can dual her as soon as possible or by lvl 3. She does great as a backstabber or ranged.
Safana can be dualed, but she needs a tome. You need to plan ahead. I would just keep her as a single class thief if you take her.

Thanks. One of the good things about EE is that characters that join your party for the first time get a huge xp boost so they can catch up with everyone else, so I'll see how that goes.

So turns out in EE if you level up a companion you just recruited you don't get complete control over their levels. I got Shar Teel and the game dumped all 4 of her levels into fighter, instead of letting me put one into fighter and the rest into thief.
Oh, and if you do dual class you lose ALL of the exp you stored up.
So that EE mechanic is shit.
I guess I have to go Tiax after all.

I'm playing some Star Trek: Elite Force 2.
Such a great game, one of the very last to use the Id Tech Engine 3, pushing it to its limits, but also features improvements, especially facial animations and character models which look very good in contrast to today's uncanny valley graphics.
The Taravar 7 Attrexian colony followed by the Ancient Idryll planet missions are my favorite missions.

I played a lot of Elite Force 1 back in the day. I remember the facial animations on that one just being... not very good. I do have 2 on GOG, so I might give it a try later.

I like Elite Force 2 better than the first game, but Virtual Voyager mode is SO MUCH FUN. Not that the first game isn't good, mind you, but Elite Force 2 is just better.
Shame Elite Force 2 does not have a Virtual Enterprise mode, I think some modders thought about doing it, but abandoned it due to legal issues or something...
Going to pester Picard in his ready room, going to the holodeck, the shuttle bay, make some sweet love to Kleeya, things like that. That would've been cool.
You can interact with the crew in between missions and see various areas - Shuttle Bay, Sick Bay, Armory, Hazard Ops, Library, and, of course, the Bridge. But a Virtual Enterprise mode could've allowed more interactivity and exploration.

The only thing I remember about Elite Force 2 is that it was a total letdown compared to EF1, and I only played it like 10 years after its release.

It seems that NecroLord likes the fact that EF2 includes the Enterprise and some TNG cast, rather than the exclusively Voyager focus of EF1. I don't blame him, since Voyager is the worst of the Rick Berman shows (yes, even Enterprise is better).

However, Raven Software were in top form for Elite Force 1, whereas Ritual Entertainment is not in the same league when it comes to level design. EF2 has way too many of those generic bug enemies, and is also less Trekkian - likely a side effect of including the Movie Picard canon. There's a mission where the objective is essentially to get to Picard so you can give him a gun! By contrast, in EF1, there's a mission that ends with peaceful first contact with a new alien species, a much more Trekkian outcome.

When I played through EF2, directly after playing EF1, I found it either painfully dull or laughably bad. Throwing a gun to Picard was one laugh out loud moment; having a timed sequence in Engineering that ends with solving a fucking pipe puzzle was another.

On my end - I'm playing through Witcher 1 as part of a backlog delve. First Witcher I've ever played. I find their usage of the Aurora Engine interesting, since it is from the perspective of Polish Gothic fans rather than from BioWare or Obsidian. I can picture their struggles, trying to get the Aurora Engine to do action combat, with it ending up being a kludgy rhythm game.

I've had enough of arena survivor games for now, decided to return back to my playthrough of The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians.
Was thinking about abandoning it later anyway though until out of curiosity i decided to check out a different party composition with a bit higher difficulty. Long story short i am at the level 3 of dungeon again with a new party. Having fun.
bCZRiYM.jpg

My current party have a Duelant, a Priest, an Assassin and a Warlock. Liking this party a lot more compared to my previous one which consisted of Defender, Necromancer, Paladin and Elementalist.
Duelant is a pretty fun rogue variant of tank who relies on dodging attacks, Priest is way more reliable compared to Necromancer as a healer and her shield spell is very useful at keeping my Duelant alive, Assassin is a pretty straightforward DPS and Warlock relies heavily on DoT spells - very helpful considering the amount of single elite enemies in this game. This party is overall way more effecient at both dealing damage and staying alive.
Lack of warriors is not a problem. All loot is randomized and seems to be catered to my party composition, meaning that it's actually optimal to have two rogues or two warriors as frontliners compared to having one warrior + one rogue.

I just completed Underrail, it was an excellent game and it has one of the best combat systems I have ever experienced

You cannot rely on one type of strategy and the game provides you with a myriad of different ways to succeed in complex battles

And the game also has exciting and meaningful exploration, you find Easter Eggs all over the large map. The character customization really makes a difference around how you can solve certain quests and your specific build matters

The game gets a well deserved 80/100 on the globally respected " BruceVC game rating system "

I have now decided to replay the entire Witcher series and I'm starting with W1 EE

I have used this Modding guide

I beat Baldur's Gate EE.
It does get a lot better after act 3, but overall I preferred Arcanum or Morrowind.
Evil runs don't seem to be worth it because if you lose too much rep you lose a lot of character options, and the silly companion pairing system limits it even further. For some reason the best thief options aren't Evil; you either have to DC Shar-Teel (who I think might be better as a pure fighter anyway because of her silly high strength stat and the ability to use longbows), use Montaran (who's a multi-class and has to be paired with Xzar) or Tiax (who's also a multi-class and isn't that useful overall. I used him in Durlag for a bit and was a bit disappointed). Most quests give you rep anyway so unless you murder people for no reason your evil companions keep bitching.

The last battle was pretty intense and its a good thing I drank every potion I had first, but its still really annoying that there's no actual protection against confusion. I lost Shar-Teel because she got confused and decided to fight a Battle Horror in the temple of bhaal. Still managed to kill Saverok by kiting him around and getting Imoen to shoot him while my MC fought the Battle Horror that just killed Shar-Teel.

I'm just disappointed they didn't allow for summoning wand cheese like in the original, the fight against Sarevok was made fun to me because of that.

I'm playing some Wolf 3D and the Spear of Destiny missions.
Second major release of a little indie studio called Id Software, who would later go on to release two other indie and really underground games called fucking DOOM 1 AND DOOM 2: HELL ON EARTH.

Anyway, I would only recommend it if you want to try out and see the primitive, corridor and labyrinth-like beginnings of the FPS genre.
I like it, but many report it being really primitive. I do not blame them.
Wolf 3D paved the way for Doom, and is deserving of praise.

Speaking of summons, I do like that they last for a decent amount of time. Skeleton Warriors last for something like 12 hours and you have several of them active at the same time. Which is great, I love seeing that. Having most buffs actually lasting long than a minute or a few seconds is pretty refreshing coming from Owlfinder.
There's actually a lot of things I like about Baldur's Gate, its just that there's a bunch of little issues that negatively impact gameplay for me. Such as it being a RTWP game with no hold order, so you have to either have to lobotomize your party or constantly micromanage your mages so they don't try face fucking the demon lord in Durlag.

Speaking of which, I did like Durlag's Tower. I can see why people say its a great dungeon. It's been a while since I did puzzles in a RPG that were actually well designed, instead of being stupidly easy or stupidly obtuse.

I'll try BG2EE at some point and see if they made improvements. Apparently there's fewer companions but no silly pairing system, and if so that's already a good start.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Been mixing it up, and playing an unhealthy amount of games.

In Heroes of Might and Magic IV, I am progressing smoothly through the campaign. I will reiterate that this feels almost like a regular rpg when it comes to combat. Other than in the tougher fights, I use heroes to clean up the maps. Still ugly as sin, and still has a good soundtrack. I think I'm at the fourth campaign.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. I got this via Amazon, since I have a lot of store balance. This is a truly mixed bag. I already knew what they had done to the characters from playing Remake, but I thought, might as well keep going. The combat is (jrpg) fun. Boss encounters are cool, and over the top. The graphics look mostly good, as long as you don't try to zoom in and study everything close up. The soundtrack is solid, even if I always prefer original tunes in games. I haven't been bothered by the minigames. I have tried all of the ones available up to Costa Del Sol. The ones I dislike, I just do what is required, and move on. Surprisingly, I have taken a liking to Queen's Blood. At first, I didn't get it, but once it clicked, it's a fun little card game. The way most characters are portrayed are worse in Rebirth, compared to the original. This is especially true for Aerith. Cloud, and Barret are okay. The changes to story offer no improvement. Not that the original offered masterful storytelling. Exploration is another mixed bag. There is more to explore, and areas are bigger. I like the cities that I have visited, but the wilderness is just open world tropes of go to this tower to reveal activities, and said activities get repetitive after a few times. There is a combat simulator that has some extra encounters, which has had some interesting fights. Generally speaking, it's a solid jrpg, but they should have believed more in their ability to create more interesting things instead of open world shenanigans. (It's not true open world, since you jump to different locations through the story, but the loop is there.)

Romancing SaGa 3 Remaster. Probably my favorite game in the series. I beat it very early in the year, but I was already close to the end. Beautiful pixel graphics, top tier soundtrack, and fun boss fights. Sparking techs never gets old for me. First, I beat the weaker form of the final boss, and then I did a run where I beat the stronger version. That was helluva fight, but not actually the most difficult one. There are one or two others that offer a greater challenge.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Played some more with my brother, we played this and another game for maybe seven hours. Not a masterpiece by any stretch, but a fairly fun platformer, which is good played with another person.

Streets of Rage 4. Played some more with my brother, we played this and another game for maybe seven hours. Not a masterpiece by any stretch, but a fairly fun beat 'em up, which is good played with another person.

The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav. Typical Daedalic adventure game, with beautiful backgrounds, and I assume a sad ending.

Prince of Qin. I have wanted to try this for some time. My first thought while controlling my character is how slow he moves, even with running mode on. I like how the game looks, with nice pixel graphics. Soundtrack does its job, and voice acting is a bit funny, to be honest. I haven't the slightest clue how to build my characters, so I am pumping up all skills that lets me do more melee damage, and tank as much as possible. Combat feels like Diablo fare, only you get companions. I got the first one, but saved after that.

I also dabbled with the first Solasta expansion. Very early on. I picked a warlock, monk, barbarian, and a sorcerer. Not sure how viable this is, but we'll roll like this.

I just started playing Tunic. It's been entertaining for the most part, but it wants to be Dark Souls as much as Zelda and it imports one of my least favorite aspects of Dark Souls, which is having to trudge back to where you got killed, sometimes over a distance and through several annoying enemies, so you can just have another go at whatever killed you. It wants to encourage exploration and puzzle-solving, but at the same time it says "Haha, fuck you!" when you just want to explore and solve puzzles because there's combat that needs doing.
