That "umad" macro Menck posted a few pages ago brings me memories of somewhere else something like this happened, but worse, for the purges were much more arbitrary, as they included even people being blamed for alts under proxies without any real proof, and the END OF RINE happened much sooner, included collective bans of people under the same sub-group and it was only because of two "umad" macros in the thread where that whole drama started, rather than a concerted and massive effort to suicide by cop. That was a watershed in those forums, because it actually divided the oldfags in half because of how terribly their admins handled the incident(worse than in here for the reasons mentioned), and caused a mass exodus shortly after. It was one of the greatest Internet dramas I ever witnessed unfolding, over twenty users abandoning their accounts and migrating to another forum.

I've seen websites with thousands of users shut down over bad moderation because everybody got fed up and made a new message board. Not to say this rises any where close to that level.

I think it's pretty much a fact that mods are human and use their own biases when making decisions. If a mod hates you, the only choice is to find a new message board. There really is no point fighting against them unless they have pissed off a lot of people. Even then it seems like too much effort to me.
