That almost sounds promising. If egosoft does manage to fix the game and salvage their reputation, it will be a resurrection second only to Jesus.

I would suggest that they would be living up to their reputation: releasing very buggy games and then taking a year+ before the game becomes viable.

Hasn't every X game followed the same timeline?

has any x game actually reached viable status as a game, as opposed to a pretty-looking and modable tech demo?

not to anyone that has some clue about game design or space sim/games in general. The company exists due to a low niche community of gamers that didnt had something as good to play (trading fleet/ space empire), so they closed their eyes and browse through that awful interface and HUD and imagined that its a great game. On paper always sounded great to me, EVE Online single player, first person camera, but the execution was always horrible, beside the purty space environments, even the combat was awful. I tried all games in the series for several hours, but i couldn't pass over the execution and broken core mechanics, and i was still thinking "is it something wrong with me or these guys are clueless" ...

Whats even more sad, they will still survive, because Elite and Sell Ships Online Citizens wont add such a complex management of your fleets or epic trading. So when somebody will make a polished trading/fleet space empire game, first person sim, these guys will be out of the business the next day...

eh, i wouldn't be surprised if shit like that eventually comes to elite as an add on, after capital and multi-player ships.

X3 was fantastic, fuck you all.

X3:Reunion was OK before they dumbed it down in Terran Conflict. Problem was, most of X3:R had already been done and seen in X2. The modding continued from where it had been left at X2, they did not have to do much from scratch IIRC.

When is the fucking price going to go down? I mean, what the hell? How many copies do they sell a month, five or six? I just want to look at cheap space porn.

So this expansion is still shit. Glad i got the complete x pack on steam before this shit was available. :smug:

Speaking of which, is there any point in playing the older games? It seems to me this series is just the same game remade over and over. Since i never played any of them, not sure if i should just start with the third one or go through the originals as well.

Jesus Christ, I was not familiar with this x-tended mod, but as I read the feature list, my dick just got hard. I have to find some time to try this out.

I'm holding up playing X-tended until they make an Albion Prelude version that works well and doesn't have bugs that the Terran Conflict version doesn't.

I don't understand why do they consider AP a secondary game when it adds some improvements to the gameplay.

Because AP improvements in UI dep (mainly bigger windows) is not really that much of improvement and pad support in XTC with something like motion joy works 100% and X-tended 2.0 is 2 years work for those people just from 1.0

Hell with pad i am faster in Ui than on K/m

So rewriting ton of stuff just for bigger UI menus is imo worthless.
X-tended also has more content than all X3 releases combined and then some.

Biggest difference in X-tended compared to for example AP is end game. In AP/TC your end game was more or less just trading empire and with AP homebase support maybe some small war.

X-tended gives you ability to completely build full economy loop witch means that you can make any ship and any station as long as you have faction approval. When you finally get last stage of faction membership you will be able to build anything.

So you are no longer buying ships from different races, you can now build your own destroyers, equipment docks, homebases and so on and game is balanced so when you start from 0 you can be sure that before you will take even M6 you will spend at least 50hours. Homebase is something more like 200-300hours and from that point you will have cash rolling to make a war with some race (which will cost like motherfucker)
