The reception is very good, lets see how it turns out when I play it. The game's performance on the Switch is kinda bad though (Expected, but still shit).

Apparently the game has an underworld that is roughly the size of the Hyrule map.
I did not watch most of the advertising, but what I did see spent a significant amount of time on the sky. Inexcusable. The underworld isn't a place you wanna spend near as much time as in the overworld in. If the overworld is mostly the same, then why would you wanna spend the majority of time that comprises the new content lighting your path?

It's so good that they doubled down on imsim elements even more since BotW. I'll wait until the emu version is more stable and bugs are ironed out before going in.

I think the underworld is the most intriguing part of the whole game. It sounds like an entirely different type of adventure separate from what you do above ground.

I enjoyed Breast of the Wild Cunt when it came out, but they had better innovate substantially on that formula in Smears of the Kinkdom if they want my sixty dorrars.

One thing I wanted to see changed on this game was the stamina consumtion when running outside combat. It makes the movement very unconfortable. I actually tested it on the Cemu version with infinite stamina mod and it makes exploring the world on foot way better. I understand the limited stamina gauge for gatekeeping the climbing and the glider, but not for regular movement outside fights or any other "challenge" (The way it is on Elden ring is my ideal) . Unfortunately it works exactly the same as the older game.

In addition to breaking climbing, unlimited stamina in an open world Zelda would also make it too easy to escape engaged enemies.

In BOTW I would generally prioritize stamina over health upgrades (game was easy enough as it was) and knew which areas where you could capture hot foot frogs from cutting grass so I could make speed potions. Screw horses, it was fun to hoof it all over Hyrule while running at ridiculous speeds with a huge stamina bar.

I'm 50h in, AMA.

General stuff
Everything is formulaic save for Side-Quests. There are 15+ collect-a-thon Adventures to upgrade different mechanics (item slots, fashion, cutscenes, fairy fountains, armor sets...).

There are "single-mechanic build pieces" peppered all around the map; think Korok Seeds and enemy camps but not as obnoxious. EDIT: or maybe equally obnoxious.

The tablet skills are worse than in BotW. The one to join things together and build vehicles carries the game, and swimming upwards is useful for traversal. From the other two, the one to join weapons together is used exclusively for combat, and the time-rewind is reserved for a small handful of cases.

Vehicles are as janky as you expected, and as durable as weapons. They have their uses, and the game makes an effort to show you how and when to use them.

Almost all metallic weapons in the game are decayed, so fusing them with materials is the only way of accessing high damage or elemental properties. Some of the fusions are surprisingly useful and fun.

There is only one kind of arrow, you give it properties using materials. This makes them easier to come by, cheaper, and way more useful.

I still haven't figured out how to get to W I D E N D O R F.
I guess it's from the Castle Depths, but as I'm gimping myself to 4 hearts I get my shit pushed when I go in.

The main quest follows the same beats as BotW. I've only done the Rito one, and it didn't wow me. The "memories" main quest is less cryptic too.

The overworld
Same, but different. Every area has had its peaks and valleys touched up and feels kind of new. They've made an effort not to repeat quests and mechanics to traverse. The main hubs are still there, just with new quests and whatnots in them.

The towers now shoot you into the sky and allow you to skydive to zones deeper inside the regions.

Also, vertical walls are shorter. Thank god not everything is a stamina check anymore, and rain is not 10m of walking around.

Caves
The unmentioned addition that's probably the best one. You delve into caves in the overworld and it feels like a proper adventure. Some are large, some require digging, some have puzzles and secrets, and most have combat gauntlets. There are a handful worth mentioning, like the Secret Royal Passage.

Sky Isles
Getting there is half the puzzle. Once in, you get one shrine, minigame, or puzzle setpiece. I haven't found an exciting one yet.

Depths
I love the Depths, it's where I've spent most of the time. It's the size of the original map. It's mostly devoid of Points of Interest, and pitch black, so it's all about traversal and guessing your way before you run out of light. The first trips are daunting, moving around is guesswork until you understand the unexplained mechanics of how and where things are placed.

HINTS 1: lightning
There's an armor set that glows close to the first Depths entrance. You can also cook food that'll make you glow. Most building stations have a headlight you can take with you, even if your vehicles aren't road-stable.

You can chuck the light seeds without arrows. It's done with R then Up to chuck an item instead of the weapon.

HINTS 2: navigation
The map is a copy of the overworld, where rivers become obstacles and mountains become lakes and mines. Follow the statues to Big Mines, and they also pass by Lightroots. Smaller mines are not worth exploring before Lightroots unless you feel like climbing back up. Several Lightroots are placed under overworld shrines. Hot Air Balloons are cheap to make and can get you the height you need to get out of a mine.

Shrines
I've done the tutorial ones, and maybe 10 more. They feel shorter, I guess?

The Depths belong to the Yiga clan. There are also boss monsters affected by gloom, so any damage they deal cannot be healed with regular food. But nah, bosses still suck.

I have also found a temple entrance in the Depths, but I don't know if the game's supposed to have 4 (one per tribe), 5 (tribe + this one in depths), or 8 (tribe + tribe in depths) temples.

Is this releasing with a "Master Mode" difficulty? If not, I'll be waiting until Nintendo decides to charge money for a difficulty that should be included by default.

Feel bad for all the people who enjoy a challenge that played BotW on normal difficulty.

It doesn't. Gimping yourself to 4 hearts gives that same vibe, minus the new enemy attacks and the regenerating health. I get one-shot by most large enemies, and three-shot by the smaller ones.

Enemies in several areas deal "gloom" damage, which reduces your total health temporarily and cannot be healed with regular food. Ofc they added some food that can heal it, but you have to go find which one it is.

Why would you only be hampered by stamina when they discover you? That'b be silly. You mentioned Elden Ring. Is Elden Ring that dumb?

What you haven't played the game of the generation yet? What's wrong with you? Anyway I'm pretty sure your stamina drains in Elden Ring no matter what. I wouldn't care if it didn't because video game logic will always be dumb. They wouldn't be fun if they were hyper realistic.

Would have played through it multiple times upon release eight years ago. Dark Souls is played out and FromSoftware has gotten too comfortable. Waiting for a significantly bigger discount.

YOU'RE PLAYED OUT!!!!

Seriously I expected better of you. From Software is arguably the greatest developer in the history of the gaming medium, perfect in all ways. While I believe they hit their peak with Dark Souls 2 they are still churning out ridiculously high quality stuff that puts just about everybody else to shame.

He likely cares more about his money than the guy that bought a Steam Deck because some dudes made him do it.
