Yes, but you have loading screens (with "helpful" tips), that these walking segments usually disguise. And this - at least for me - partly ruins the immersion factor. At least it doesn't have forced unskippable walking segments.
I was having a lot of fun in the game for the first couple of days, but then the constant inventory shuffling just killed my desire to play. Had the same problem with BotW.The novelty might wear off eventually, but I'm really loving this game. I can't put it down. There's so much shit to do, and it's scratching every itch that I love about the Zelda games.
I'm trying to avoid any spoilers I can, whether it be mechanics, bosses, pretty much anything. A lot of NPCs, even the ones wandering the roads, will drop little hints about points of interest or special gear in the area. It makes horseback worthwhile when you can stumble onto rumors on the road.
My highlight so far
Was killing the frost hydra (or Gleeok) in the Tundra north of one of the horse stables. He pushed my shit in when I ran into him first and I made it a point to kill the fucker before I started my first temple. Got some better weapons, raided many caves so I could get ore to sell for the cold resistance armor in Rito village. You can find non-rusted weapons in the underdark being held by phantom guardsmen- definitely worth marking those dudes on your map for good weapon bases.
Anyways my fight with the ice dragon went much different the second time around. At one point he flew far out of reach into the sky and started raining ice shots from above. I hopped on one the shards that was now lodged in the ground and used the Time Reverse skill so it would return to the dragon and carry me up where he was flying, allowing me to rain arrows back at him and put him down. It was so cool that the dragon did what you never see them do in games-- actually use an aerial advantage to get an upper hand. And I love the fact there are probably a dozen ways to deal with that phase of the boss fight. And I love that there are just world bosses roaming around.
I've also made the discovery that just like in BOTW there are hot foot frogs in the tall grass around Rito Village. I will farm that shit forever to make 3X speed potions and book it all over hyrule.
The biggest problem with the shrines (in both games) is there's no air of mystery to the rewards you're recieving. You know there's going to be exactly 1 chest with a disposable item and a light of blessing. Since you're going in knowing what you're gonna get it makes it feel more like a chore. Some decent rewards would go a long way. Elden Ring did this much better. The shrines are so much worse in this one. In botw I would usually do them as I found them, but most of these ones I leave because they're such a chore. I have more than 10 shrines I found and never bothered to solve.

Man I hate this - because it's Kotaku and they are egregiously bad.
But they got blacklisted for not following review embargo shit, which is like the one thing I have to give them credit for. The fact that review embargo's exist, and "gaming journalists" follow them is fucking pathetic.
Do tell.Just realized what the trick is to figuring out where to find light roots when you can't see them.
It's really fucking stupid.
Alright, maybe the game actually explained this and I missed it, but here goes.Do tell.Just realized what the trick is to figuring out where to find light roots when you can't see them.

The whole Depths is a dark mirror of the overworld. Forests, mountains, lakes, mines...I also just realized something similar about the bargainer statues.
They're located directly beneath major religious sites. The big one beneath the Temple of Time on the Great Plateau, and several others beneath the Temple of Time up in the sky and beneath the sacret springs of power, wisdom and courage.

That was random. Who brought up Dragon's Dogma? Anyway very different games doing different things and all that. Elden Ring is a better comparison and at this point I'd say Elden Ring is the better game. Still loving TotK though. This Zelda is every bit as good as Dragon's Dogma
Nah forget all those games bro play Fallout instead broThat was random. Who brought up Dragon's Dogma? Anyway very different games doing different things and all that. Elden Ring is a better comparison and at this point I'd say Elden Ring is the better game. Still loving TotK though.
This is as tall as Link becomes in his adulthood? Just replace the manlet with kid Link then. He was much better.I visited Tarry Town and... well, now I'm really confused as to how much time passed between BotW and this game. It has to be several years at the least.
