to be fair he is self admittedly autistic, so you probably shouldn't expect perfect logic, even though he has no emotions and thinks in binary.
Idk. I've met few people I can genuinely call autistic.

90% of the time, it's just a get out of jail free card for acting like a dumb asshole. A label mommy and daddy let a doctor slap on them to explain away their bad parenting.

You say that, but you're literally here every single day since forever
Great timeline.
reading through every comment and reaction spamming every negative opinion.
Only the stupid opinions. The hypocritical, bad arguments. Like yours.

I've criticized the game repeatedly and told people not to buy it. You're just asshurt that I called out your arguments as being shit a few times.
There are self admitted Larian fans here who are 10x less obsessed with defending the game than you
He says, posting here every day himself, crying about a game he admits he will play anyway.

Give it a few months. I'm sure you'll be defending BG3 with your bad arguments just like you defend Wrath of the Tranny.

If BG3 will turn out to have good parts, I will indeed defend these parts. Same way, despite liking some parts of WotR, I wont go to its thread to obsessively reaction spam everyone who says something about the trannies, since I'm not a butthurt pussy without morals like you, pretending to care about wokeness in one game that I don't like, to feel like a monocled gentleman, then disregarding it completely as soon as its done in a game I shill for. I was taught to be honest and say what I think, regardless of faggots being mad about my opinion, to be consistent in my morals, but also have the dignity to admit a mistake instead of doubling down like a little bitch. I will keep behaving that way, because unlike you, I have respect for myself.

I seem to remember them having some pretty lame takes. That and I think he liked Wrath of the Tranny. Meh.

I'll never get over the irony of people still crying about one tranny in WotR, while they simp for a game literally filled to the brim with wokeness and degeneracy. Larian fans gotta be the least self aware people on earth.

You were literally saddled with the tranny and her orcish "wife" for most of the game. Couldn't kill or even send them packing even after they had hissy fits, disobeyed orders and provoked losses.

In this game you can literally dismiss or kill everyone. Deficient comparison really.
My favorite part about Aneiva or whatever her name was is that I just assumed it was a tranny because she was SO UGLY and none of the other female portraits were. It was side splitting to find out I was right. Also I just didn't talk to "her" or the orc.

Also I just didn't talk to "her" or the orc.
Except they're central to the plot in the first act, and they still hang around in the story until the late game.

They're also both incompetent morons who are the reason for the demon invasion of the city. You can ask the orc about this and she basically says "gosh, yeah. how could we not see that? oh well.."

Written by Amber Scott, btw - the self-professed SJW behind Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear.

I know you guys are in your spar moment, but pointing out that the game at least allowed to replace them easily with Regill as advisor and kicking then into a corner for being inneficient with their emotions

I probably stopped playing the game too early to get to know Regill and his mythical basedness, but his art never filled me with much hope.

Why is his hair pink?

I played a little while after meeting Regill, and his memetic basedness basically comes down to the fact that he's the only sane man-thing in the game.

They were trying to write him to be Lawful Evil but ended up writing him Lawful Reasonable.

Never judge a book based on its cover dohohoho. But still gnomes in Paizo setting are colorful in general they basically follow warcraft universe color pattern convention. At least for Paizo credit they try to explain it and even add a contrast with the bleaching disease that Regill suffers from.

And what was this faggot's excuse?

I will give Paizo credit for coming up with lore explanations for their homosexual tendencies, but if lore didn't float for most people with Astarion's foppish personality, I don't think it should work here.

Unless Regill has a secret swastika tattooed on his bicep and lynches trannies in his spare time, there's no way he's redeeming this POS.

It's deceptive, he's so incredible I took him everywhere with me no matter what playthrough I was on. I beat WOTR once for Angel, Swarm, Lich, Aeon, Trickster, and got 4 chapters into Azata (this was right at released and the game was buggy so I couldnt finish) and 4 into demon. Regill is someone you always take with you.

The tiefling is a nothing burger regarding his story telling, he is your run of the mill Chaotic Neutral thief that is actually possessed by demon due to his demonic heritage and you basically make him either embrace it or destroy it if im not mistaken but besides appearance at least he don't try to shag your ass, the only companion that does that is the cleric if you show any sort of good willl or kindness in general.
Well Nazis and Commies are retarded in my book so there is that, but regarding Regill he is a really sober and methodical companion. The game categorize him as evil due to the fact he will kill his own allies if it means tactical advantage in the crusade. But it does a good job to show that he is not a caricature of victory above all else archetype so as Tyranicon mentioned he has really sober takes and approachs, he will do what its necessary but if possible he will try everything else first because killing an ally its still a resource expenditure.

"Good" characters in trannywrath were all annoying faggots basically. I was on a neutral/evil run before I got bored of the game just before the end of chapter 3.

Speaking of npcs, Regill and Greybor were alright. Wenduag and Woljif were tolerable. The rest were better off thrown under a bridge.

Hating on the succubus thot is nice, but like Tyranicon said, it seems like Lawful Reasonable to me.

The problem with Wrath of the Tranny is that it's so bad that even the briefest glimpse of normalcy is impressive to the battered-wife syndrome brains of its players.

"Oh, this character isn't a brain-dead tranny, a cannibal, a furry, a faggot tiefling or a hypocritical demonic whore? BASED!"

He seems ok, so for now I will retract my comments about his appearance, but I don't think he's worth suffering through the game for.

Well I've managed to reschedule my "Work from Home" day this week to release day.

Mind you I did that for Pillars of Eternity II and still haven't got around to finishing it...

Regil was cool, and that thiefling I don't recall his name was a thief. And everyone knows what thieves deserve.
I ended up running with Ember, cause she was cool, Camellia for permanent buffs with that mythic perk even though I knew literally from 5 minutes into the game what she was (absolute jokes of a failure these writers are). Greybor cause who doesn't like a bounty-hunting dwarf who knows what he wants, Lann because I killed the spider bitch and he was all I had at that point and his pet fucking rocks, I got the demon that wanted to be good, can't remember her name areshuale I think. She eventually became good so she got to live and, of course, Regil.
Overall an enjoyable game excepting that fucking trash crusade minigame.
I also pirated it. Obviously.

I think the worst thing about modern RPG companions is not that the writing is especially poor (writing has never been good in video games, with few exceptions), but that the characters themselves are brain-dead, one-note anime cutouts used only to soapbox a particular writer's deranged beliefs, whatever they are.

Every so often you come across a character that is believable, has trackable motivations beyond being a fuckdoll for the player, and everybody will chatter in on how great that character is.

This should be the standard, not the exception.

Truly, we live in times where content is wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle.

Well looking back were the original trilogy companions that much better? The most memorable ones were retarded meme characters like Minsc and Edwin. The romanceable characters were also poorly written fetishes, specially Viconia. At least they weren't faggots.

Torment and Kotor 2 had actual good characters, but that is on Avellone's bill(praise be upon him and all other innocent victims of feminist me too).

Baldur's Gate has always been a little too campy for my taste. Irenicus is the high point of the series when it comes to characterization and I don't think most people will dispute that. And even then, I think it's more the efforts of the voice actor (David Warner?) than the strength of the writing.

But... I did personally feel the old games were less soapboxy. The old characters were mostly just fantasy tropes instead of weird Critical Role-esque OC Donut Steels.

They were all tropes, yeah. Minsc was a cartoon character. Edwin was amusing enough and so was Korgan.

For the romances, I would say they were good for what they were. If you played BG1 and wanted to bang Jaheira, now you can. If you wanted Viconia, same deal - with a porn actress' face too. Aerie was virgin elf option, but she could try to cuck the player, since her head was basically empty - blame Avellone.

I liked Anomen's quest structure better, in that you could help or hurt him. And if the player character was a female, she could romance him - at least until she ruins his life and he rightly blames her for being the psycho she is.

Same goes for Keldorn and Nallia. Nallia was annoying and foolish, but had a pretty involved questline.

Cernd and Valygar were Ambien.

I'm actually missing this here... I would rather have the old one-note stereotypes than these romanceable gender-fluid annoyances with convoluted backstories.

Karlach and Minthara seem like trope characters with simplistic backdrops. They will probably be some of the least annoying ones. It is still hard to fill those 3 companion slots with this game's roster though(Minthara requires you to be stupid evil so she is out).

Back then video games were niche, like if a game sold 1 million copies it was a huge success so they had a little bit of experimental nature charm. Nowadays you have entire business templates developed for games in general and things got so bloated production wise where you see the absurd of such statement: Oh so if you wanna see a sequel this game must sell 10 million copies.
And this change in the business structure affected a lot the AAA games where they mostly become a really bland and neutral experience most of the time and by consequence writing. Oh people love soapbox shit, ok lets shove it down their throat instead of what is the identity that I want for my game?

Make the Codex Great Again! Pathfinder: Wrath
Aerie would openly and shamelessly FLIRT with everyone who has a penis, and in fact, is a romance option if you're a gnome.
Probably because Quayle had a good influence on her. Aerie is custom made for LG Gnome Fighter/Illusionist CHARNAME.
