Wait, that actually looks like a legit Battle Brothers clone, I can't believe I never heard about it. It doesn't even have a thread on Codex. Looking at the description and the reviews, it might actually be a hidden BB-like gem. I'm gonna play the shit out of it and report back.

Can you play a strictly good, evil-banishing, degeneracy-destroying Paladin of Helm and get as much acknowledgement from the game as you would if you were playing an absolute degenerate?

Fall-from-Grace says "Hello!".

This is "current year", so flavor paladin dialogue to the tune of "burn in hell you sodomites!" or "Your fiendish homossexual perversion has condemned you to violent death!" will likely not be available.

Still, every npc is killable so you can actually violently cleanse faerun from sodomy if you so desire(starting with most available companions).

The game's title changed. It was first called The Book of the Game, or something like that. Apparently, it sold super poorly, and the developer says that the name caused issues with Steam algorithm.

I'd say a little bit of envy, oh wish I was the guy that hit that node. And the classic for every single human being in this damn earth change, no one likes changing. This might imply they have to change and adapt to something new and we all know the common practice is to repeat something until its vomit inducing because everyone like their cozy non chaotic schedules.

My guess is in the region of 250k.

The litmus test isn't the launch day number but the number after a month. 90% of players will have dropped the game by then.

stupid take, does not apply. it's not based on multiplayer gameplay where every session is more or less a fresh experience, so why would most people NOT drop it after a month? i know i probably will, but i'll also return to it after a while when the burnout fades to see what i missed. a ~100 hour campaign game is simply not the same as logging on for an hour or two every other day to shoot virtual enemy players in the head.

multiplayer games are generally geared toward keeping player interest over time and have completely different content pipelines and economic models. all Larian needs is your purchase and they are good - but as we already know from DoS2, a healthy modding scene will keep the game alive for a long time to come. skyrim is a piece of shit but mods carry it to this day.

"most people"'s interest in anything is fleeting, especially in campaign style games where you are justified in thinking you've seen most of it after 1 playthrough or get bored near the end of it. it's a big undertaking to complete a whole campaign, which is not the case in other types of games where you just log on and play a few 15-20 minute multiplayer matches here and there.

Unlike certain older games, in this one you can't go through without combat. That has been established from the ea.

You can avoid a bunch of combat with dialogue checks. Just from what I can recall of the start of EA...

1. Can avoid adventurers going into the crashed ship with several dialogue checks, including class specific ones

2. Can avoid fighting thieflings that captured one of your companions

3. Can avoid fighting goblins in the abandoned village

4. Can avoid fighting other true souls

5. Can avoid fighting goblins at their HQ

6. Can avoid fighting owlbear

7. Can avoid fighting dog whose owner died

And that's just in the first two hours...

they've spent the last decade+ making technically and artistically inferior products, and they know it.

they've spent so long doing the bare minimum that they now rightfully feel threatened. they're ashamed because they know other people are seeing it plain as day. which is silly, because they could just stfu and congratulate Larian on their success and try to learn from it. also, many of them already have games in the works they can't even begin to change in time to bring them up anywhere close to par.

It will result in the same schizo rating games like Age of Wonders 4 got. Very positive because people play for 10 hours, leave a good review, then drop it. This is also how Wrath became so overrated. I bet you the quality will plummet after the first act.

The only problem with diplomacy'ing your way out of encounters is that you're missing out on loot and treasure afterwards. Is it worth it?

i'm sure there are exceptions to this, but you will probably be able to do peoples quests/play nice and then kill them anyway. also in EA you're able to pickpocket a lot of what people have on them, i guess not their armor or equipped weapon
