What are you talking about? I'm not familiar with earlier iterations, but the 2nd edition of AD&D already had rules for paladins that didn't follow any religion, church, or deity.

About monk, I never said that I'm a expert about that class in D&D. I just quoted pink eye which loves to play as an monk in pf:km, pf:wotr and kotc2, but yes, I know much more about D&D by reading its books and playing CRPG adaptations, played most of the Dreamforge Intertainment and SSI games than by playing D&D. My previous 3.5E high school table had lots of Pathfinder stuff mixed into. And OSR, I only played about 15 sessions then my group disbanded.

That said, I will probably consider BG3 unmodded average and modded BG3, good but now that I finished my NG+ in Elden Ring, I think that I will gonna check Solasta DLCs. Is hard to install mods in Linux for BG3? Because for PF:KM and PF:WoTR, was a bit tricky. Despite km having an Linux version, I had to use Lutris to run the M$ windows version and run the nexus mod manager that way.

BG3 is supposed to be a serious game where the PC has a literal fukkin parasite stuck up their ass trying to eat their brain and horrifically transmute them into some literal monster yet they have you using burning sausage to murder werewolves.... monsters that can only truly harmed by magic or silver. "Bht they're on fire volourn"... Any sausage that's on so much fire that bit can do real damage would fall apart. Lol

Seriously, it seems they are doing a passable (not great) job on the actual dnd system, but they don't know dnd or bg. Like I said before, it is clear they hate bg and dnd.

In the PHB? Yes, they were. However, 3.5 also brought to us Paladins of Tyranny, Paladins of Slaughter, Paladins of Freedom and so on, a paladin for every alignment, which is basically identical to 5e oaths. And that's not even actually 3.5's invention - it was done for 2e first, in a Dragon Magazine, officially.

And it was already decline when it was brought. In another thread was discussed how Gygax disapproved of this idea, because the Paladin was a very specific class with a very specific ethos tied to religion and good. That's how it was implemented originally in AD&D 1E, and the changes you mentioned were made in AD&D 2E, just after he was thrown out.
