i see this as nothing but a boon for all of us. it shows the viability (granted half comes from being a 'd&d' game and the other a mix of larian and the series name) of making a crpg. everyone and their mother is gonna hopefully start slinging shit at a whole heap of walls to see what sticks. the glut of crpgs of what i am expecting by statistics alone should guarantee a few gems

I think it's pretty good. My wife agrees, as she is also playing a campaign.

We ended up playing separate single player campaigns because coop currently sucks. There is no way for the split screen parts to be combined. Probably your programmers were jerking off to cuck porn instead of implementing core functionality.

What I dislike in BG3 is when mage stands almost in front of the enemy and spell misses with 65% chance. I find this so unbelievable.

TB is an abstraction. Imagine a hobgoblin is actively smashing you with a club and you as a mage are trying to avoid his attacks while casting some shit at the same time.

If you're a mage, you'd cast mirror image or simulacrum, step away from hobgoblin, and cast magic on it. I find this kind of realtime combat much believable and even harder.

So, I'm 20 hours in, just killed Minthara during the siege. Lost all tieflings but Zevlor, so... perhaps it was a better idea to assassinate goblin leaders in the temple.

First opinion - good, really good. Strangely, I'm getting really strong Dragon Age: Origin vibes. Perhaps, this game is what in perfect world Bioware would've made as DA2.

What makes it even better - I have no idea how to play 5th edition, so the game's really hard for me and I find myself cheesing through - like, killed the swamp hag and giant spider matriarch using my sword bard MC knockback attack, pushing them into the abyss. Now, after the siege, I'm still level 4 and actually scared to go and kill the rest of goblins. First I need fireball to be confident. Also, encountered a little bug - goblins in the temple are hostile, but those in the village still think I'm ok.

Another really great aspect is that "roleplay" spells, like mind reading, friends and other stuff actually matters and matters greatly. The game plays like you have an actual DM (ok, half an actual DM) with you.

Some of them must die for Tav to retain his sanity and thus be able to save the world. Their sacrifice will not have been in vain.

The DA:O comparisons are right. It's basically a sequel to it instead of BG2, and that's fine with me. The game is great despite some usual cringe Larian dialogue.

looool you know how there's a 100+ hp spider in some cave under the first goblin village you find? The one with the gnome on the windmill? Well, it just so happens that I gave Wyll the power to push enemies when he laded a hit with the eldritch ray thing warlocks have. So he hit the spider, and by chance, the spider fell directly into a chasm and died immediately. Free xp!

Neat, but Solasta has been enabling this same use of verticality since its release two years ago.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see Shadowheart is not as flat-chested with clothes off as she is with her armor on.Try looking at her from the side with armor on, it's really startling how conservative the modeler was.

You should have placed Shadowheart in githyanki girl's armor, after the latter suffered an unfortunate accident on the edge of a blade.

Which has better AC, anyway.

It's hilarious that the tits "transfer" with the armor.

I am doing a "good" playthrough, and the rationale of the Guardian about infiltrating the cult made me second guess myself, and if I should join the goblins and drow. So its a compelling, self interested, pursuit of power.
There's some cartoon villainy, but also some CEO villainy.

Sorry to suggest stupid shit, but are you sure your display is set to the right ratio ingame? I also have my scrollbar on the left hand side of the screen. Which itself is... well if there was a perverted game, it's that.

Oh, the aspect ratio's set correctly... It's not IMPLEMENTED correctly! That was it, it's missing the left hand objects, the scroll bar and the little button below it.

Amazing. Six fucking years, four hundred devs, and they couldn't get the UI to scale properly. The whole industry's getting lazy from indies to CDPR, you get 16:9 UIs with black framing, but Larian couldn't even manage that. No wonder they didn't fix the toilet chain, click listeners must terrify them.

It beggars belief that they still can't get a toilet chain system (for this is basically the same system) that doesn't remember the fucking order you had your characters in before you unchained them.

Nope! Its fucked. I had to respec Wyll because of this same bug. It "forgets" to use CHA as the base stat after the 1st summoning of the pact weapon.

I respec'd him to a Sorlock and he is a fucking beast now because of why they are also beast in 5E. Twinned Extended range repelling eldritch blast is nasty AF. Total one trick pony, but what a trick it is...
