Exactly, time is more precious than when i played wow "classic" at release. Even dungeons can take more than an hour... the nostalgia pull is huge for me to get into this shit again, but i have nowhere near the time for it.

Got invited to RFD. I arrive to the entrance, they're already inside. I ask if they can come out to help me kill Ambassador Something (they did it without me). Long silence, then they say "no we'll do it after the run". I say "after the run you'll all TP". Silence. "Can you just step out? He's just at the entrance". Kicked from the group.

It's not an unreasonable request that you made of them, but only further amplifies why you should always roll an important role (Tank or Healer, preferably Tank). In such a situation they would've had no choice but to do as you asked them. Being a Rogue you are the most easily replaceable class out there.

Level 34 warrior. Was a bit peeved about not being able to do WW at 30 so I tried farming mobs at 34 and got destroyed. The trolls rarely drop tusks, I killed around 7 and got two, and that's probably being lucky. Can't even reliably kill the elementals and they're being farmed by hostile ??s anyways. (Even the fucking water eles who's elemental water sells for next to nothing.) Went to Nessingwary and it's camped by 6+ 40-something allies. All the tigers/raptors/panthers around the area are dead and there's more roaming high levels that are causing me to idle at my corpse until 2 minutes have passed so I can rez and die again. Early leveling was cool but now I understand cleave parties, because this is fucking terrible. Layering was a bad idea, they should have had dynamic respawns. With layering you're still idling and running aimlessly looking for a single mob to tag, except there's not a bunch of people around you, only just enough so that you're still waiting for mobs AKA the worst possible population density. With dynamic respawns there would have been many more social interactions and simultaneously less downtime where you're wasting the sometimes-limited time you have to play games. Private servers were a lot more fun. Maybe it gets better at 40, although I probably won't have enough gold for my mount until high 40s. (This is with skimping on abilities, taking and selling all vendor trash, and never buying anything from the AH, by the way.)

Back to Scarlet Monastery for 6 more levels! Will probably take Ravager when I start tanking Armory and skip WW since it's really a rich man's luxury rather than a viable option on a leveling Warrior main.

Do you actually know how to jump layers? This experience you're describing feels almost nothing like mine (aside from Arathi elementals being camped out), and I have been playing on Gehennas during on-peak and off-peak hours.

Zoomers, my dude.

On private servers at least you were mostly in it with people who haven't been circulating through ELO and automatic systems not giving a fuck about establishing relationships with one another.

Dude, the "relationships" is a myth.

It' gonna be like this:
> "guys, this dude was an asshole and rude. kick him"
> "why are you not listening to me??? this is wow classic!"
> "guys???"
> You were removed from the group

Made a group wait literally an hour for everyone in my group to have a chance to pick up the book by the thousand needles lift for the RFK quest and not a soul left or complained.
Tank privilege I suppose.

I'm kind of bored now, though. Gonemeregan was dull. And I really should give Underrail another chance.

You can't barge in a group that's ready to go in an instance and expect them to help you with outside quests. Sucks, but it's hard enough to get an instance like RFD going and once the ball is rolling people don't feel like backtracking. Keep in mind that you don't absolutely have to do everything in one go and RFD has a ton of quests that are easy to miss, like the escort one inside, or the tubers quest from the goblin, which means you are expected to do the place a few times.

I wonder if people will slow down and do more of those runs when they level alts. I bet there will be a good deal of twink runs.

WW Weapon is a level 40 weapon quest. The final part is killing a tough level 40 elite mob. The only way to do it early on is to have friends to help you.

It's a rite of passage for warriors to get the damn thing at 30. Requires a great deal of planning and for the final quest you only need a 60 and it takes less than a minute, so you should be able to get one to help you (usually another warrior).

Then again, i'm autistic when it comes to this stuff. I managed to get Smoking Heart of the Mountain at 50 with my druid. I spammed the chat advertising what i was planning to do and after 15 minutes i got another druid who wanted it too to come with me. We then spammed for 20 minutes to eventually get a group that was clearing Blackrock Depths to agree to allow us to get in once they finished it. They also agreed to kill the elite near the forge for us before leaving. We prowled all the way to the entrance and waited for another 25 minutes until they were done, then one person in the group allowed us to join before leaving so we had the place for yourselves, and we carefully prowled our way towards the forge. We fucked up on the way there and used our combat rezzes, and then he died again while trying to cross the lava while i managed to get in there by an hair. Since combat rez was on cooldown, i told him i was just going to alt-tab for 30 minutes to eat something, so he just waited there in the lava and 30 minutes later i tabbed back into the game, rezzed him, and we then went to the forge and both got the damn thing.

This, my friend, is what true autism is.

Maybe but ultimately it's about learning how to catch the group in the right mood. If those guys were about to get in and you were the last fps asking them to backtrack was a bit much. What keeps a group together is the expected dopamine rush from getting loot, you have to keep that carrot going or the will falters and people start leaving. Backtracking is a death sentence for long instances and as i remember the re-spawn time for the Ambassador is also pretty long, about 15 minutes or so.

People are usually friendly enough but greed trumps everything. Gotta have to learn that and roll with the flow.

They made one run and then two of their people left. They made a NEW GROUP, to which I was invited, and then without waiting for me and the hunter went in. I was with the hunter outside when I asked for a little help.

I didn't sign up for a group that skips dungeon quests (just because they already completed them). If they skip this one, they'll also skip the escort, for example. Kicking me like we're doing mythic+ runs was a dick move, I spent 20 minutes running there. I will fight you as long as necessary on this.

No, I ended up soloing the Ambassador after being kicked out, but it took me about 10-15 minutes. I also killed a ton of elites for the other quest while waiting to find a new group.

You soloed the Ambassador? How? He is surrounded by elites and is an elite himself.

Unless they changed that on the patch classic is on. Last time i was there it was on a private server.

Pull them all, run away, hit ambassador one more time, keep running away. Eventually they all evade except the one you've been hitting. For hard elites I have advanced target dummies, but he wasn't hard.

When I see prices for water and what I have to gulp down as mage I realize what a moneysink that must be for classes that arent mages but rely on mana.

You can find a good pace with a Shaman even with some downtime if between groups of mobs. Really depends on what totems you're using and how much you're using your shocks.

I'm not sure how well it'll work now, but I found it a good move to load up as much as I could on the water globes from the water elementals in southern Ashenvale. They restore something like 850 mana over time, drop in 1s to 3s, drop almost all the time, and work well for soloing into the 30s or 40s. Back in the day I'd revisit there and burn through them to build up a stock and rely on Mages for the more level appropriate drinks later on.

https://classic.wowhead.com/npc=3917/befouled-water-elemental

Edit: Actually while I have this post on here I'll take the time to talk about how every single Shaman player I came across was total shit. We are duoing as Druid + Paladin with my brother and we've yet to see a single Shaman bother to Purge any of our buffs. They all run at us spamming Frost Shock and thinking that Windfury crits actually happen often enough to be relied on, and they barely use their totems either. Whole day of sitting in STV and this is how every single Shaman encounter has gone down. I weep to think how it is for players who need to group up with these Shaman in instances.

I'm amazed at how bad most of the Shammies are I've grouped with. I'm the only one so far in a few double Shaman dungeon runs that was earth shocking healers healing and doing other side things. Most if they even use totems just put the str totem down and leave it at that.

The amusing thing for me is the groups who even bother to expect it seem to think Forst Shock has no cooldown and can be spammed like mad, bitching at me to snare when we get fast runners and they've worked down several that bolt back to back. The worst was the rogues using their sprint while fleeing that made FS barely do anything after the warrior decided to charge the packs of mobs rather than pull them back to give us room from the nearby ones.

There's so many people leveling professions right now that the AH is completely saturated with low level crap. My plan to make money with herbalism is failing miserably.

It made the deadly blunderbuss dirt cheap so I'm not complaining. About the only thing I've managed to reliable sell has been copper ore. I'm just vandoring my leather stuff and any greens I run across, because there's always too many of all kinds up.

You really can't expect to be making money with something everyone else is doing like gathering, especially in an early economy. If you are dead set on gathering, I'd just go skinning and vendor the skins.

It's elites can't be done solo.

On Huntard they often can. In facet there was a whole questline on that Rhok’delar bow or whatever that was all about soloing elites, although they were more of a puzzles for very skilled players in that case.

Any of you guys using Questie? Do you think it would ruin the classic experience to use it?
The writing is actually quite good in WoW Classic. Some of it is barely-concealed homage (Sven quests in Duskwood) while some of it is quite well-written and serious (The Missing Diplomat, the quest in Burning Steppes from the troll whose wife was "captured" by ogres).

Not to mention Mankrik’s wife, Don Quixote/Mario and Luigi/Zelda in Ungoro.

And, of course, Green Hills of Stranglethorn :troll:

On a serious note, there were quite a couple of memorable questlines, such as Duskwood (Jitters, Legend of Stalvan [had to look this one up]), that little girl in a town at the beginning of Eastern Plaguelands, Western Plaguelands with those ghoul families, Tirion Fordring, Scarlet Crusade...

Ah, those pure, innocent times, when you heard “thot” your mind just went to “Thottbot”.

Absolute pro-tip on how to make gold in WoW:

Yes, I believe the little girl is a Redpath. I think they did a really good job with small quests in the beginning that set the mood, as well, like Clarice's pendant (Bitterness and overturning of values in Lordaeron) and A Husband's Revenge (going into the Greymane refugee camp like it's Scarface and merking some guy).
