It's got a lot of flaws, and a lot of the criticism of it I actually agree with. I don't hate it though. There's enough fun stuff in there for me to put up with the bad.

It's ended up being one of those games I just have around and dip into fairly regularly for a jag of ... that feeling of being in a cyberpunk setting.

As I said up-thread though, a lot of the charm of the game is dependent on the layout of the city being big and mysterious (helped by the day/night cycle giving areas different aspects when you come across them), but I have to admit that I'm starting to get over-familiar with some of the city, so it's starting to feel more and more cramped and the mystery is starting to wear off.

'twas a good run while it lasted though. Looking forward to seeing what they do with 2 (though I'm prepared for it being a woke pile of shite ofc).

The inordinate amount of cookie-cutter filler quests are one of my biggest gripes about it.

Also, come to think of it, the fact this game doesn't have a torch (or night vision) is really dumb.

Outsourced, if game had mall/cinema encounter level it would be short / episodic. But they wanted to UE5 wig-cher instead.

gave monowire a serious effort. Its weak but fun. Ofcourse you can just contagion while hiding behind the cover but it wouldnt be fun. Hence I think its best to compare against katana with control hacks.

Main problem with monowire is survivability. It would be easilly fixed if you could block projectiles. As it stands you must disable enemy eyes/weapons before rushing in, then soak a bit of bullets while you upload further hacks. This constant breaking of pace is annoying and it never gets better.
As you spread blindness, weapon explosions and broken anckles(from monowire) you will be able to survive any onslaught.
Melee finishers count as headshot KO for the purpose of spreading blindness further(highest tier of quickhack).
If you upgrade starter deck to the max, you get +60% extra damage from monowire.

Now here comes the part where its better than katana - bosses. You never run out of RAM so you just can max cyberware glitches upload. Also you dont actually stand in melee range, so you cant be retaliated. 2.1 introduced that bash to some enemy bosses that tripples you where you can die in instant, monowire can stay out of the range.

However, katana is much better against groups as you might not even be bothered with quickhacks. As ive learnt - overclock mode can be interrupted to recoved cd quickly. There is this cyberdeck that auto uploads blindness and wpn glitches in 8m during overcloak. You can just spam activation button to spread it for free while enjoying extra dmg with all weapons.

This is why I never tried a netrunner build. The constant menu-ing over every target looks like it gets really old really fast.
thats why overclock autoupload is so sweet. It is replacing old breach functionality.

Notably you were forced into 20int pre 2.0 to get tier5 hacks. Now you are good with 9. You would still likely want to reach 15 for overclock though.

I guess the whole upload during combat works better for smart weapons? You can do it while reloading for example.
Maybe I should have gone 9AGI with monowire, so you can upload hacks while dashing? That allows you to get full mitigation

INT is my dump stat in current build. He didn't even know who Rache Bartmoss was. Johnny almost had a fit.

i decided to give combat mods a go. After very long 2min research ive settled on hardcore22v2, went with katana.
Its quite surreal. Everyone dies on single quick slash so no finisher is ever going to happen. Red skulls need like 2 slashes.
If you start jedi blocking bullets then enemies will die to their own shoots faster than you run out of stamina. Assuming you keep at it for a while, lower hp pool means that they get staggered after each returned shot.
Grenades kill people.
Since enemies die on single strike, its possible to run very fast and clear room of people without alerting anyone.

As such it makes game easier for experienced player?

I got myself 4090 switching from 3090

What convinced you to switch, especially so close to the release of RTX 5080 / 5090?

4090 prices fell down. 5090 price will be so high that you can forget about getting one.

I think 5090 will be at least 2999 without taxes.

I might still get 5090 as i use GPU in my work but i'll have to see proper benefits. If it isn't at least 70% faster than 4090 then i won't bite.

So don't worry, it is going to be 5% faster, like every new generation in the last couple of years.

On the one hand, the tranny dude was so clumsily handled it literally made me laugh out loud when he mentioned his gender transition
Who?
I guess he means the bartender from Afterlife. If you go car racing with her,
she reveals to you she's a trans woman and asks you to help her take revenge on a killer of her husband. However later it appears it's more complicated than that - the guy died during car races and it's not obvious that he was murdered - it might have simply been an accident. Plus, you even have an opportunity to backstab her and are rewarded for it.
Ohhh I had no idea, I never started those missions. Ehh that's just weird.
easily missable yet one of the things most memed in an attempt to "prove" the game was woke garbage.

well then a bunch of things make no sense, like
I maxed out Tech (for crafting, what a joke it turned out to be)
and if you insist you are on 2.1 then its hard to take you seriously
The «maxing Tech» bit was poorly worded. Idk why I said that I was maxing it because of crafting, it makes no sense to me now that I re-read the comment. Rather I initially chose Tech because I remembered that it was connected to crafting pre-2.0 and I wanted to see what they did with the crafting systems. But soon I discovered that there's like 1-2 crafting related perks and crafting itself is not interesting.

Other than that I don't see how I am wrong. The amount of level ups and points is too much? I think it is. Or maybe the gameplay loop of driving around the map and doing activities is so samey that it starts to feel like a routine which speeds up the feel of the game.
The perks not feeling impactful? They don't. After reaching levels 40+ I'm still the same retard who runs around and clips people. I don't really recall anything from the perks drasticlally changing my playstyle or giving me incredible new things to do. There's just 2.5 pre-determined playstyles (open assault or stealth and you can mix in hacking and your preffered weapon type), and most of the progression system just gives you number boosts that reinforce those 2.5 playstyles. The most impactful things for me were probably cyberware pieces like Sandevistan and double jump because they actually did something.

Ultimately, I think the game is a huge missed opportunity, because they had a cool tabletop RPG on their hands and they just completely missed the mark on what made that TTRPG good for people that liked it. You can't be a drone operator or a techie who crafts makeshift weapons of destruction from the shit he finds somewhere in a junkyard, can't be a charismatic rockerboy that riles his fans up against his enemies, can't be a fixer with connections and clients in debt who will do gigs for you to pay you off. There's only one role — a Solo (with mixed in sliver of «netrunning» (no proper cyberspace included)). Your role is pre-determined, your story is pre-determined with little to no deviation from it, your options are mostly linnear. Where tabletop allowed players to immerse themselves into that gritty cyberpunk world and gave them a lot of agency on how they will interact with it, the videogame is just a glorified Far Cry style outpost clearing simulator that uses cyberpunk as just a set dressing. And that's fucking sad.

Finished it. Turns out Smasher had quite an overhaul in the 2.x patch, and is far less of a pushover than I remember from my first playthough. Notably uses Sandevistan quite a lot, to counter yours if you have it. Still nothing a fully charged Nekomata to the nadgers won't solve.

I still think the main story arc is a bit of a let-down, especially towards the end. Phantom Liberty did a better job.

may i suggest getting mod with free respecs and playing with throwing knives and optical camo. You would find it quite different

actually since 2.0 you are perk points starved through most of the game.
not like it matters because game is falling apart around lvl 12-15, when you start improving your gear towards purple tier. Difficulty curve just no longer matches your character.
