Fucking game. Derp around for like an hour and then find out something you need that was infront of your face whole time.
Also, how the fuck do you collect Tenebrium?

I'm really hoping PoE's megadungeon will be 15 levels of complicated interiors full of traps, puzzles, unique encounters and secrets but in reality it will probably be just 15 tiny rooms with some orcs Hwal'ghugbs inside.

I'm noticing Party Animals casually walking from original portal in Homestead to one on the left, still inactive portal, where they disappear in the puff of smoke. We'll party like it's 483 BD when it activates.

Finished this yesterday night, such a marvelous journey it had been! Last dungeon gonna gave some trouble to most people, I forsee much crying and tear rivers. :) Also thank you Larian, for the eye bleeding I got when searching for damned buttons.

-Fights were not that hard generally, even on hard as long as you use CC and don't attack blindly. Most challenging ones are some bosses for me (Boreas and Mangoth) Deathkingths were pretty powerful (4000 hitting Death Punches O_o)but they only come in 2-3 and not with other enemies. There should be 1 or 2 in each group at last map at least. Also last boss should be a bit more mobile with more tricks.
-I don't mind random loot a lot unless I got robes with STR and plate mail with INT on it, all the time. Which happened a lot in this game, 2 of my party members used same boots and braces for %70 of the game... Sucks big time since pyhsical damage dealers really require good weapons and armor to be effective. My thief mostly CC ed a large part of first two maps because I only found green, shitty daggers.
-I was swimming in gold at late game, that is one of the biggest problems of most RPGs. There should be some meaningful gold sinks at least like upgrading the home plane, crafting artifacts (which somehow solves random loot) or some artifact seller. And I stopped stealing shit in second map, also left a lot of loot behind like golden spoons and plates.
-While I enjoyed the quests and writing, most the characters are uninteresting and easly forgettable. Main quest (one of them at least) is too epic for my taste while random quests are much better
-High level spells are mostly dissapointing, meteor strike and hail strom hardly hit anything sometimes (hail storm often hits nothing...) storm and earthquake is friendly fire fest, chain lightning is good but need to avoid friendly fire again. Witchcraft has the best ones, Death punch deals good damage and invulnerability is useful but somehow not needed. Also there isn't any high level spells for "melee" skills.
-İnvisibilty is quite powerful, espcially when used for stealing. That alone kills sneak and other thieving skills most of the time, I only used sneaking for damage boost in fights after a while. Lockpicking isn't that useful either since you can force most the doors/chests without breaking things inside.
-Crafting is fun and games but only shines after 4-5. Crafting small meals/potions hardly worth anything since there are lots potions out there to buy and gold is easy to come by. They also don't heal much and their buffs have a very short duration.
-Some talents and skills are less useful than others and most won't use them.

I really had so much fun with this game which most games fails to deliver nowadays. I hope for that they'll upgrade this formula with a more living world with day/night cycles, more interesting characters and more skills/abilities. I really look forward to play the next game either some exp.pack or completely new game. Hell, I'm even OK for some enhanced edition.

Will be fun to see PoE's "15 level" megadungeon [...] There will be fifteen tiny, shitty levels

Roguey could you preserve this for posterity

Also, Zeriel, what made you so butthurt? Half your posts the last month is about how you hope PoE will fail. You're like a reverse Roguey.

What a fukkin' ever retarted dialogue 'system'. Seriously? Rock-Paper-scissors where the computer cheats? It just made dialogue completely and utterly unfun. Complete and utter bullshit. Worst dialogue system EVER. I just end up relaoding 10,000 times b/c noway am I gonna allow lame ass shit like dictate if I fail. Why not an old fashion dialogue check? Such retartedness.

At least the combat is fun. But, dialogue is utter garbage.

One quick question since the manual and the so called 'in game help' doesn't tell us.. does thick skin stack with armour or will the game just give you the higher rating?

The story seems solid enough. The writing is okay. Characetrs have potential. But, any dialogue check is ruined by the fuckin retarter mini game. Made a billon times worse with the computer obviously cheating.

Character system seems to be good.
If it bothers you that much you can start a new game and set the AI to loyal, your party won't question each others decisions then. You still have to play the minigame against NPCs though and since you can fail/botch quests if you lose, might want to learn to win. I usually start out with rock. If I win, I just assume the AI will pick next what would have beaten my last pick. This works most of the time. If I lose however, I assume the AI will behave exactly like that, e.g. if I lost with rock vs paper, the AI will assume that I'll pick scissors next and thus choose rock. I will therefor choose paper next. Win most of the time.

It's still kinda retarded system, but it doesn't bother me enough to start a new game, so whatever.

Where there is yin, there must be yang.

Serious answer: I work from home, so I read a lot of terrible threads while waiting for stuff to happen. When people are shitting up the place with stupid, kneejerk criticisms that amount to bullshit, I feel it has to be counterweighted in some way. Roguey being a troll is fine, but there are an unfortunate number of people here who take her arguments seriously, which the rest of us then have to live with. I mean these days half the time it's not Roguey making these really dumb arguments ("lol PoE will have better gameplay fundamentals than D:OS") but other people who have somehow bought into her madness, which is alarming in of itself.

I can just not post for a while, though. Thank you for reminding me that is a better option, and that I am an idiot for not realizing that sooner.

Talking to him does nothing. Oh well. Fuck tenebrium. Have 3 bloodstones, so I'll heal the party with em instead.

he gives you a container to hold tenebrium as a quest item, that'll help carrying it till you learn how to handle it. Just be careful and let the one carrying that container pick any tenebrium.
You can learn how to handle it
from him as a quest reward or you can learn it from a book in that cultist camp at north where a bad mannered mage lives in.

Sure you don't have a bloodstone chest in your inventory somewhere which allows you to transport tenebrium safely? You should have one if you accepted the quest from Brandon.

Besides the rot doesn't actually do anything, ignoring the minor HP bleed which just can be healed normally, and will be automatically healed the next time you pick up a starstone.

Megadungeons are a good idea if you can anticipate their shortcomings when designing them.
I know Obsidian mentioned level exits/entries to surface levels as you progressed - kind of like Diablo I assume. With DOS, this could have been achieved with the pyramids and waypoints. Also, in PoE, the graphics are painted and pre-rendered, so I don't think we'll see highly repetitive floors...
Maybe 15 floors or more is taking it too far, but I'm longing for another Durlag's Tower/Watcher's Keep-like romp in a party-based RPG. It should be the most challenging and rewarding content in the game, while remaining optional.

As for the Phantom Forest thingy... It wasn't a bad move by Larian to skip the megadungeon. They were running out of money after all. But it was bad to not communicate it to backers.

I have 21 hours in DOS now and I'm enjoying it more and more, but it's almost entirely due to combat. Don't get me wrong; it's a million times more fun than WL2 and Shadowrun and is the most fun I've had with an RPG since MMX, and before that god knows how long, but I think I will be enjoying PoE a lot more. It will not be due to any megadungeon, but rather, everything (besides combat, maybe) being more to my liking.

Oh, and DOS uses the kind of gridless combat, not unlike ToEE, which I was promoting for TToN during the RT/TB combat poll and discussions. I remember someone on the TToN team saying, after TB had been decided, that this was the kind of TB combat they were going for (mentioning ToEE, not DOS). So hopefully, we'll be seeing a game which takes a good chunk from the best of both worlds - storyfag AND tactifag. But then again, Wasteland 2 was supposed to do this, and is always a grim reminder when getting ones hopes up for ToNN.

I thought after DOS we could all agree gridless is horrible and should never be tried again for our sake

I kind of like the gridless combat. I makes it feel less like a game of chess and more like a game of Tabletop Warhammer. In table top turn based war games it is my impression that gridless combat is the norm. You place miniatures and use rulers for movement and attack distances.

If you think Roguey is a troll 100% of the time and that there are none of her posts that have as much weight to them as any around here, then you have taken every ounce of the bait.

Thank you for reminding me that is a better option, and that I am an idiot for not realizing that sooner.

I dunno if I'd call you an idiot, you're a bro despite this, but there are plenty of people here who are just as bad as Roguey on the other side of the table, so I don't think your counterweight is needed.
