I just zoom in on them and try to click somewhere around their hips or feet if they're a swaying enemy.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
At what level should I try the Fabulous Five robot cave quest?

That depends if you want to rescue cannon fodder Fabulous Five sent or not. If you use them like canon fodder then level 5-6 is enough.

Level 6 is enough even if you want to rescue them because with the remote control, the robot's weapons can be deactivated and he becomes a static lumbering bucket of XP.

The content seems like a mixed bag. Sounds like there are some good encounters, levels, and puzzles, but also very poor directions about what you should do and where you should go (different from handholding; it almost sounds like they designed this game to be used with a quest compass only they took the quest compass out), occasional progress-halting from doing things the way they didn't and breaking scripts, and some long-winded, awful writing. I suppose the lack of Rhianna Pratchett script-doctoring is to blame for that last one, guess they shouldn't have let her go so soon after all. Too bad the American woman they hired to co-write wasn't enough. :P

It seems like that to me as well. I've played for a few hours and had to look up this:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/230230/discussions/0/540734254933715987/ (read the third post)

A lot of the other quests seem equally as vague. Essentially you'll be told about a giant robot you have to kill, or a sunken ship you have to find, or a lighthouse, but you won't be told where exactly those things are. You're supposed to bushwhack around the countryside hoping to stumble upon the leads you're given. Good thing the map is limited.

Ugh. I didn't have any problems finding any of those things, and I have no words. The decline must have really taken root. :P
Exactly, they even tell you the general direction of the lighthouse iirc. So you know, just explore in that vicinity...

In general, like I said earlier, for me, personally, this is the first game in more than 15 years to make me interested in "full-fledged" isometric (non-TRPG) RPGs again. So there's that. You just need to know just how much I prefer first person RPGs these days to appreciate that :P

At the same time, I also couldn't disagree more with all the Baldur's Gate comparisons that pop up. This game comes from an almost entirely different design school, and with an entirely different structure. In its interaction mechanics, it pushes CRPGs forward as a whole -- my expectation bar for W2 and PoE has been really raised much higher now due to all the neat things this game has/innovates on -- but with regard to its structure, I see it as an evolution of the 1980s RPGs like Ultima or Deathlord. It's pretty exciting. It's also great that, while building on that "old school" mentality, it generally does its own thing with regard to structure, exploration, interaction, etc., instead of being just a carbon copy of anything. That's also impressive and laudable.

Unfortunately most people namedrop BG2 as a comparison because they have no fucking clue what they are talking about and just goes with what's cool. Considering Swen has always said that U7 is the biggest inspiration, it's very very few people who actually hold it up to that.

Terrible, terrible things those Death Knights... Thankfully they have a weakness...

A grid would have served this game well.

Fuck no, this works like heaven. The targeting things can be fixed without raping it with a grid.

To be honest, I don't really mind the BG comparisons that much, as long as they help sell the game. There's also some truth to those, in the sense that it's the first great "full-fledged" iso RPG since the late 90s.

It's just that it makes it so obvious that game journos don't really have a clue about the CRPG genre as a whole, and therefore don't have any proper perspective either. No surprise there, of course.

Afaik, you can attack the snowman. He wants to get the rabbit cause it chewed on his nose.

BG2 and D OS comparisons. Both look generic fantasy with party and dialouges. I'd compare them if I didnt know better.

Pretty mad at Larian right now. Legend of Weresheep quest:

At the end of it, the spirit had told me I could find the body near a tree in the phantom forest and that it likes stardust. I'm now in the Phantom forest, am 90% sure the only tree you can interact with is the one it meant. Spend a shit load of time throwing stardust all around the tree, nothing works, try stuffing the nearby rabbit hole, nope! Okay, maybe it is another tree ... spend awhile walking the forest throwing stardust at any prominent looking tree. Nothing. Fuck it, I'll continue and see if I come across anymore trees (I can feel the game ending coming, so am doubting it). Proceed to finish the game, note that I couldn't get the Madora quest to resolve either, so maybe it's bugged like that one? Cave in and look up the quest online. It wanted a stardust flower (which you have to mortar/pestle to get stardust). Fuck you, spirit said stardust, journal said stardust! I demand this be patched asap! (The shame of looking up solutions is unbearable :negative:)

Damn good game though, really enjoyed myself . Anyone who is done/~ Level 20 should go fight Ardu (the cat wizard, I think that was his name). Now there's a "fun" optional fight.

Really, a long attack animation that does 1 damage per hit and costs him 2 AP, so he does it like 3-5 times per round ... were they trying to bore us out of killing him?

And a question:

Is it possible to find the Codex for the rich codexer's?

Guys, I have set "rotate camera" to Right Mouse Button - do you see any disadvantage? Context menu in inventory screen works, also loading inventory screen after right click on characters to the left... I like it that way.

Just give me goddamn hexes

Fixed that for you.

D:OS movement only needs 4 things to be perfect.
1: Click-to-confirm movement/spells as an option if you're deathly afraid of misclicks. (I don't mind it as-is, but some people might).
2: The dotted line for movement should be colour-coded to indicate if you're passing over any surfaces.
3: Enemy animations should sway less about during combat. Sometimes I have to wait for an idle animation to stop before attacking if I want to hit. (This ties in with #1)
4: Circles around people should have a small indicator arc showing what counts as their "backstab sweet spot". Since enemies vary their poses, it's not always intuitive where your need to stand. 0AP to make minor adjustments is nice and all, but if enemies are clustered together, you risk AOOs while adjusting to find the backstab pixel.

All of these things are minor enough that it should be possible to patch them in. Right, ForkTong? ;)

Seem i got a bug there, 3 flaming arrow, 3 explosives, 2 charms and not a single dmg done, doesnt even proc combat :o or do i need the pet talk ability?

Sent from my crappy rooted Hipstreet Flare

you have to have pet pal for the quest reward at least: speak to the rabbit afterwards and he shows you an alternate way into the castle.

Codex book Underlord Imp talks about? I found the Codex Pestilential or something book that increases Intelligence for the price of Perception. I talked to Underlord and the other Imps that follow me around with the book in the inventory but it didn't do anything so I don't know if that was the one or not. None backer.

I don't know if this helps other classes but with the archer I used to press CTRL before shooting so I don't miss click.

And a question:

Is it possible to find the Codex for the rich codexer's?

Could you elaborate?

The Codex is a (semi-)random item for those who've input the Codex backer code. What do you mean by "rich Codexers"?
Dunno if that has anything to do with it, but I found a
Codex of Pestilent Thoughts book or something, +1 INT -1 PER

Yeah I know about the item one (I never ran into it unfortunately), but I mean:
The Codex imps mention losing their Codex, that they stole from the demons. Just wondering if you ever run into it. By rich Codexer's I mean the ones that got their names in ;)

Oh, I see. Unfortunately, I don't think the Codex thing has any further meaning or significance. :P

I think Larian also kind of dropped the ball on the Codex vs. Watch thing. I've only seen it mentioned by the imps a couple of times, but at least from where I'm at in the game, it doesn't have any convo/scene of its own.

Still, I can forgive them for that, if only because they actually bothered to voice all of the Codex's named NPCs (myself included :P)
